I'd argue Kieran does more in the back ground than is often noticed or realised. He keeps the horses fit and healthy and cared for and I'd say that's a very important task for the gang.
Wow. I love these lists but I hate that Kieran is ranked so low. He's one of the only other ones who does frigging chores (The others such as Charles do some, but Kieran is always doing them). He also looks after the horses ALL THE TIME! He can't leave camp for fear or being captured and so does all he can in camp, whereas some other people such as Micah or Bill sit on their backside when not doing missions.

Arthur’s contributions are in the thousands in just the time we see the gang, and he was with the gang for many years before that. He definitely raked in more money than Strauss and also is the top gunslinger for the gang which is why he’s in ever single robbery in the game, he’s easily number 3

Yeah. I feel like he underestimates them too much. He doesn’t see what they are actually doing around camp and the richness they add to the story. Mary-Beth is the best councellor and reader in the gang, Tilly is I guess the best Dominos player and the best laundry worker, and Karen helped with a heist and is a great scam artist.

I guess because in Chapter 6 there is nothing much to upgrade. That is why we see some of Susan’s worst attributes, outside of killing Molly for supposedly ratting out the gang after she drunkenly claims she did that.
He treated poor Kieran the same way. Dude is doing everything around camp, along with John and Charles, and he’s also taking care of the horses and keeping them very healthy
I think the people who help around at camp deserve more recognition, the girls (except Molly, she didn't put in any work, her job was just to look pretty for Dutch) are the ones who make the place into an actual home. Obviously stuff like robberies and gunfights will be more impressive and get more attention, but someone doing regular household chores is still vital tokeep the camp running. Cleaning, washing clothes, helping pearson, taking care of the horses, Imagine coming home after a day of horseback riding, hunting and fighting. You'd be happy to have a fresh pair of clothes, a clean and tidy space to relax or sleep and something to eat.
In my opinion the top 3 should be Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur in that order, Dutch because he’s the leader, Hosea because he keeps Dutch from going too far (in the beginning anyway), and Arthur because he carries the entire gang on his back and is hands down the most capable person in the gang even after he gets sick. Love your list though bro keep at it 👍
Yeah I just put Arthur lower because in real life I don’t think he’d be doing all these missions while everyone else sits on their asses all day and that’s more due to him being the main character of the game. I still think Strauss and Pearson are just as important in the gang tho
@@RedDeadTierLists fair points and I agree about Strauss and Pearson being more important than a lot of people realize but also the reason Dutch and everyone asked Arthur to be on all the jobs is because they recognized he is the most reliable member of the gang (and because Arthur is controlled by the player lol) Strauss even mentioned in chapter 2 that he tried getting other people to collect debts but they couldn’t do it as well as Arthur.
Seems like Abigail is the one in charge whenever there are members that needed medical attention, just like when Davey was injured, and eventually died, she's the first to take a look. When John was saved from the mountains, she also nursed him to health. She had also participated in Saint Denis bank heist (quite a crazy plan, they should have gone with Karen tbh) Kieran, even if you dont take him to missions, he takes care of the horses of the gang. Like he's the stable hand. Lenny helps with the missions or scouting of the gang. He also participated in train robbery and even gave you the tip of a gang hold weapons for sale. His role is pretty much like Bill, Javier and Charles.
Imma be honest... Arthur should be number one or at least number 2 behind Hosea because he is the guy who actually gets things done. Even if you count only the canonical things he does to contribute, he does or is involved with pretty much at least 40%-50% or so of everything the gang does to make money or fix problems. The dude even keeps this up while slowly dying to a terminal desease. He hard carries the gang ngl
I mean yeah, but again in the game, I would say they give a lot of the tasks to Arthur because you're playing as him. Most other members in the gang could do these jobs, but Arthur gets lumped in because it wouldn't be a fun game if you just missed out on a bank robbery or something.

He also, if you interact with him while he’s brushing a horse in the center of clemen’s point camp, he will actually ask for burdock root to make medicine for the horses, and accurately gauges their health. He clearly knows a lot about them. That’s his main thing, horses. His other main activities throughout the day are: -doing random chores -sitting at a rock near the hitching posts
Arthur deserves number 1 If anyone else dies or leaves the gang then they’ll find a way to push forward and survive despite the loss (even Dutch, hell they might have survived if not for Dutch) but if they lose Arthur the gang will crumble in like 2 or 3 weeks
Swanson donates to the box according to the ledger. Most of them do, except for Dutch and Molly. Also, looking at all the crazy medications in the game, having a morphine connection seems to me valuable for a gang of gunfighters. Tilly does all the laundry which I consider a pretty valuable service especially considering the sanitary conditions of the time. Pivotal for keeping the gang healthy. If it wasn't for her everyone would have contracted Arthur's TB. It is frankly astonishing that she didn't get it when you think about it. Plus, she does guard duty at the campsites. She is also endlessly hopeful and chill. A better spiritual leader than Swanson ever was. Camp guards are Bill, Karen, Hosea, Lenny, John, Tilly, Javier, Sadie, Grimshaw, and Sean. People who don't patrol are Dutch, Micah, Arthur, Abigail, Jack, Swanson, Trelawny, Mary-Beth, Molly, Pearson, and Uncle. It seemed to me when I played that Bill, Karen, Lenny, John, and Javier guarded most. It's hard to bring in money or food when you're stuck patrolling half the day away. Bill complains about it all the time. Uncle entertains everyone, there is value in that. But I agree he is a parasite. I followed him around camp one day in Horseshoe and all he did was drink throughout the day. Took an hour off to play banjo. He went through about 4 whiskeys and a few beers then crashed. Kieran taking care of the horses is equivalent to an auto mechanic today. No Kieran, no getaway cars...or somebody else has to do it. Kieran shouldered a burden nobody else was fond of doing except for Hosea. And he knew a few tricks that made him better at it than the rest. Kinda like Ralphy the mechanic in Mafia I, if you know that game. Lots of parallels between those two characters right down to their personalities. It's too bad the devs didn't think to do something negative to the horses in Lakay & Beaver's Hollow after both Kieran & Hosea were gone. Maybe have The Count get sick. He also has dialogue stating that he helped a lot with the Grays and Braithwaits situation. He was a crucial part in chapter 3, and helped with nearly every mission.
Personally I don’t like Bill. He was extremely unintelligent and just not nice. He played a small role in the death of Sean Macguire who I liked. He was also willing to kill Arthur in the last mission, whereas Javier couldn’t bring himself to do so. He is also a bit of a creep as shown when he’s around Kieran.
Micah is not lower than Shawn and Charles. Peeps also forget how many times John gets captured/injured, basically a liability in his younger years. A lot if not all the bigger take scores come from Micahs missions 😈 off hand holster, stagecoaches, your first Lancaster repeater, etc
Abigail Should be higher, yeah she has to take care of Jack but she does things in the background we don’t see, all while having to take care of Jack, she mainly does cleaning and other chores that Arthur or any of the men aren’t doing. My opinion is that if they’re in the gang they have a use that Dutch or Hosea thinks is useful for the group. The thing is you say the women aren’t “useful” because they don’t rob or kill people. What sense does that make? The gang is more of a family. When Micah says they need to cut the dead weight Arthur fights back against it because he knows how useful everyone is. The fact is there’s more to this group than robbing and killing. Idk this video is just weird. The only creative thing you can do is make red dead tier lists. Like cmon dude.
I think you dont put enough weight on the thinks the woman do around camp. They are basicly the housekeepers of the gang. They wash clothes, they tidy up, take care of animals etc
I disagree with the rankings of some of the gang members, Jack shouldn’t even be on the list at all since he was only four years old, what contributions could he do? Also, Kieran and the women do a lot around camp, you must not stay in camp a while
Idea for a video: missions ranked by soundtrack. Maybe not all missions deserve to be in the list, so it could be a top 10 or 20. But if you want to include all of them, I'd be really happy.

About Pearson, I recognize his good cooking contribution, but if he doesn't cook, the other members can just go hunting and bring back meat to eat. they wouldn't have starved without Pearson

in my opinion sadie should be a bit higher. She had a pretty quick turn-around from being sad about her husband to being helpful to the gang. Especially with how she rounded everyone up after the failed saint denis robbery, and made sure they had another place to stay at. I also think she did a great job making sure colm got to swing, and getting john out!!
but the thing is, she was pretty useful to arthur, john and abigail but not so much to the gang as a whole, like.. me playing as arthur, i was barely providing resources and money for them, I’m always out doing missions for random npcs and the times i got back to the gang was just to keep the story going through missions. Sadie was great helping the main characters, but not so great helping the gang, just like my Arthur

I don't see Trelony as a full member of the gang, he's more like an associate, independent, a friend of the gang who joins up sporadically to carry out works. Kieren even helps with the horses and Bill brings a lot of money.
So your argument for ranking Lenny lower is that Lenny has low self esteem and doesn’t think he is good enough even though Arthur literally corrects him immediatly. Lenny pulled off so many of his own jobs, escaped lynching to help Micah, guarded Colter as everyone was inside in the night.
Arthur and hosea were the two most important figures in the entire gang. Arthur is the brute, the muscle of the the whole show, and hosea is by far the most wise and cautious of the gang. Dutch was just a psychopath being kept in check by hosea.
Agree that Hosea is being the most important for the gang. Hosea is the intelligence, Dutch is the charisma, Arthur is the muscle. When Hosea dies, all goes out of control, since Dutch cant handle things himself.

I'd definitely put Strauss lower. Despite how much he gets talked up by Micah and Dutch, he really doesn't get them that much money. I never once saw a donation from him in the ledger. The funds from his money-lending are almost negligible compared to most of the heists. Aswell as that he almost singlehandedly removes the "Robin Hood" reputation the gang may have once had. He also does absolutely no work in camp.
Near perfect list! I agree with Hosea being #1. He was truly the father figure to everyone in the gang, even Dutch. When he went down, there was no coming back.

They've gone on jobs with the men and solo jobs as well, which is all mentioned throughout the game

My favorite thing about the list is the respect for Pearson, but he's too high for me. He relies on Arthur and Charlie and the other practical members of the gang to go hunt, don't hear him going to find provisions. He's up there but should be top 10. Many terrible takes otherwise. 1. For Arthur to not AT LEAST be top 3 is insane. We play the game from his perspective because he is the No. 1 gun that this gang has. Any major killing or robbing that happens if it's even only one ally they look for to go do it's Arthur. Dutch uses him as his no. 1 option to handle his most important plots because he can't go too far with the price on his head. Many missions go down with him being "the best shot" in the gang. The main brain trust in the gang for any decision before Hosea dies is Dutch, Hosea and Arthur. Speaking on the jobs on the gang, THE NUMBER ONE job is to do the raids, robberies, enemy gang and law attacks and have most of the gang in tact. Van Der Linde gang can operate like they do because of Arthur being the head gun. They don't have to get the numbers like the O'Driscolls. He's no. 1 to me but could've accepted at least no. 3. Sean is way too damn high. He had a couple schemes himself but not more than Lenny. He had to force himself on the stagecoach job they set up in the new Hanover camp. He died before Lenny for a reason because he wasn't as sharp. Hosea being a voice of reason and a good planner doesn't make him no. 1. It's great to have reason and smarts but he's not a bank manager, this is a gang and none of his perspective would hold height in a traditional sense without the gang dynamics making it happen. He's a fine no. 3 to me but I could accept no. 2. He and Dutch being the long standing heads of the gang deserves respect but at the time of this story I think Arthur's 20 years made him the most important
It's super presumptuous to me to say if we weren't playing as Arthur then other members would do some of his missions. We have no evidence of that, most of that they did without him is while he was sick and we see how stupidly destructive that was.

Yeah. I feel like he underestimates them too much. He doesn’t see what they are actually doing around camp and the richness they add to the story. Mary-Beth is the best councellor and reader in the gang, Tilly is I guess the best Dominos player and the best laundry worker, and Karen helped with a heist and is a great scam artist.

I guess because in Chapter 6 there is nothing much to upgrade. That is why we see some of Susan’s worst attributes, outside of killing Molly for supposedly ratting out the gang after she drunkenly claims she did that.

I think the people who help around at camp deserve more recognition, the girls (except Molly, she didn't put in any work, her job was just to look pretty for Dutch) are the ones who make the place into an actual home.
Obviously stuff like robberies and gunfights will be more impressive and get more attention, but someone doing regular household chores is still vital tokeep the camp running.

In my opinion the top 3 should be Dutch, Hosea, and Arthur in that order, Dutch because he’s the leader, Hosea because he keeps Dutch from going too far (in the beginning anyway), and Arthur because he carries the entire gang on his back and is hands down the most capable person in the gang even after he gets sick. Love your list though bro keep at it 👍
Yeah I just put Arthur lower because in real life I don’t think he’d be doing all these missions while everyone else sits on their asses all day and that’s more due to him being the main character of the game. I still think Strauss and Pearson are just as important in the gang tho
@@RedDeadTierLists fair points and I agree about Strauss and Pearson being more important than a lot of people realize but also the reason Dutch and everyone asked Arthur to be on all the jobs is because they recognized he is the most reliable member of the gang (and because Arthur is controlled by the player lol) Strauss even mentioned in chapter 2 that he tried getting other people to collect debts but they couldn’t do it as well as Arthur.

Seems like Abigail is the one in charge whenever there are members that needed medical attention, just like when Davey was injured, and eventually died, she's the first to take a look. When John was saved from the mountains, she also nursed him to health. She had also participated in Saint Denis bank heist (quite a crazy plan, they should have gone with Karen tbh)
Kieran, even if you dont take him to missions, he takes care of the horses of the gang. Like he's the stable hand.
Lenny helps with the missions or scouting of the gang. He also participated in train robbery and even gave you the tip of a gang hold weapons for sale. His role is pretty much like Bill, Javier and Charles.

I mean yeah, but again in the game, I would say they give a lot of the tasks to Arthur because you're playing as him. Most other members in the gang could do these jobs, but Arthur gets lumped in because it wouldn't be a fun game if you just missed out on a bank robbery or something.

He also, if you interact with him while he’s brushing a horse in the center of clemen’s point camp, he will actually ask for burdock root to make medicine for the horses, and accurately gauges their health. He clearly knows a lot about them. That’s his main thing, horses. His other main activities throughout the day are:
-doing random chores
-sitting at a rock near the hitching posts

Swanson donates to the box according to the ledger. Most of them do, except for Dutch and Molly. Also, looking at all the crazy medications in the game, having a morphine connection seems to me valuable for a gang of gunfighters.
Tilly does all the laundry which I consider a pretty valuable service especially considering the sanitary conditions of the time. Pivotal for keeping the gang healthy. If it wasn't for her everyone would have contracted Arthur's TB. It is frankly astonishing that she didn't get it when you think about it. Plus, she does guard duty at the campsites. She is also endlessly hopeful and chill. A better spiritual leader than Swanson ever was.
Camp guards are Bill, Karen, Hosea, Lenny, John, Tilly, Javier, Sadie, Grimshaw, and Sean. People who don't patrol are Dutch, Micah, Arthur, Abigail, Jack, Swanson, Trelawny, Mary-Beth, Molly, Pearson, and Uncle. It seemed to me when I played that Bill, Karen, Lenny, John, and Javier guarded most. It's hard to bring in money or food when you're stuck patrolling half the day away. Bill complains about it all the time.
Uncle entertains everyone, there is value in that. But I agree he is a parasite. I followed him around camp one day in Horseshoe and all he did was drink throughout the day. Took an hour off to play banjo. He went through about 4 whiskeys and a few beers then crashed.
Kieran taking care of the horses is equivalent to an auto mechanic today. No Kieran, no getaway cars...or somebody else has to do it. Kieran shouldered a burden nobody else was fond of doing except for Hosea. And he knew a few tricks that made him better at it than the rest. Kinda like Ralphy the mechanic in Mafia I, if you know that game. Lots of parallels between those two characters right down to their personalities. It's too bad the devs didn't think to do something negative to the horses in Lakay & Beaver's Hollow after both Kieran & Hosea were gone. Maybe have The Count get sick. It would have fit into the story line perfectly to have the horses decay along with the gang.

He also has dialogue stating that he helped a lot with the Grays and Braithwaits situation. He was a crucial part in chapter 3, and helped with nearly every mission.
Personally I don’t like Bill. He was extremely unintelligent and just not nice. He played a small role in the death of Sean Macguire who I liked. He was also willing to kill Arthur in the last mission, whereas Javier couldn’t bring himself to do so. He is also a bit of a creep as shown when he’s around Kieran.
Micah is not lower than Shawn and Charles.
Peeps also forget how many times John gets captured/injured, basically a liability in his younger years.
A lot if not all the bigger take scores come from Micahs missions 😈 off hand holster, stagecoaches, your first Lancaster repeater, etc
Abigail Should be higher, yeah she has to take care of Jack but she does things in the background we don’t see, all while having to take care of Jack, she mainly does cleaning and other chores that Arthur or any of the men aren’t doing.
My opinion is that if they’re in the gang they have a use that Dutch or Hosea thinks is useful for the group. The thing is you say the women aren’t “useful” because they don’t rob or kill people. What sense does that make? The gang is more of a family. When Micah says they need to cut the dead weight Arthur fights back against it because he knows how useful everyone is. The fact is there’s more to this group than robbing and killing.

in my opinion sadie should be a bit higher. She had a pretty quick turn-around from being sad about her husband to being helpful to the gang. Especially with how she rounded everyone up after the failed saint denis robbery, and made sure they had another place to stay at. I also think she did a great job making sure colm got to swing, and getting john out!!
but the thing is, she was pretty useful to arthur, john and abigail but not so much to the gang as a whole, like.. me playing as arthur, i was barely providing resources and money for them, I’m always out doing missions for random npcs and the times i got back to the gang was just to keep the story going through missions. Sadie was great helping the main characters, but not so great helping the gang, just like my Arthur

Arthur and hosea were the two most important figures in the entire gang. Arthur is the brute, the muscle of the the whole show, and hosea is by far the most wise and cautious of the gang. Dutch was just a psychopath being kept in check by hosea.
Agree that Hosea is being the most important for the gang. Hosea is the intelligence, Dutch is the charisma, Arthur is the muscle. When Hosea dies, all goes out of control, since Dutch cant handle things himself.

I'd definitely put Strauss lower. Despite how much he gets talked up by Micah and Dutch, he really doesn't get them that much money. I never once saw a donation from him in the ledger. The funds from his money-lending are almost negligible compared to most of the heists. Aswell as that he almost singlehandedly removes the "Robin Hood" reputation the gang may have once had. He also does absolutely no work in camp.
Kieran easily was important he was basically doing chores for the whole camp, he cared for the horses and caught fish for the camp.

he finds a bunch of leads, his biggest being the chapter 3 stagecoach robbery where he also fought with the law in one of the more intense missions.
My favorite thing about the list is the respect for Pearson, but he's too high for me. He relies on Arthur and Charlie and the other practical members of the gang to go hunt, don't hear him going to find provisions. He's up there but should be top 10. Many terrible takes otherwise. 1. For Arthur to not AT LEAST be top 3 is insane. We play the game from his perspective because he is the No. 1 gun that this gang has. Any major killing or robbing that happens if it's even only one ally they look for to go do it's Arthur. Dutch uses him as his no. 1 option to handle his most important plots because he can't go too far with the price on his head. Many missions go down with him being "the best shot" in the gang. The main brain trust in the gang for any decision before Hosea dies is Dutch, Hosea and Arthur. Speaking on the jobs on the gang, THE NUMBER ONE job is to do the raids, robberies, enemy gang and law attacks and have most of the gang in tact. Van Der Linde gang can operate like they do because of Arthur being the head gun. They don't have to get the numbers like the O'Driscolls. He's no. 1 to me but could've accepted at least no. 3.
Sean is way too damn high. He had a couple schemes himself but not more than Lenny. He had to force himself on the stagecoach job they set up in the new Hanover camp. He died before Lenny for a reason because he wasn't as sharp. Hosea being a voice of reason and a good planner doesn't make him no. 1. It's great to have reason and smarts but he's not a bank manager, this is a gang and none of his perspective would hold height in a traditional sense without the gang dynamics making it happen. He's a fine no. 3 to me but I could accept no. 2. He and Dutch being the long standing heads of the gang deserves respect but at the time of this story I think Arthur's 20 years made him the most important
It's super presumptuous to me to say if we weren't playing as Arthur then other members would do some of his missions. We have no evidence of that, most of that they did without him is while he was sick and we see how stupidly destructive that was.
