In all fairness..... it'd be kinda odd to go to a a Tenacious D concert with the mindset of "Gee, I wonder what kind of band this is?" Jack Black actually has even better command of his voice than he did in early D years. Even though he drives his voice at times, you can also tell he takes good care of his vocal instrument.

Either they never bothered to learn good vocal technique and they simply rely on their youthful vocal health and power, causing them to constantly damage their voice with each performance, (in the same way NBA players decline when their athleticism fades-some adjust their game, some just get worse and retire), or they party too hard and wear out their voice that way. Jack has obviously taken voice lessons and is purposefully doing things on stage to take care of his voice and maintain longevity-much like LeBron. Good call.

Jack's not exactly and old man but he is in his fifties now and it's def more common for singers voices to be worse in their fifties compared to their 20's. Even with your lebron comparison he will most certainly reach an age where he is worse at basketball than he was when he was younger.
Why does the crowd singing along so loud and killing it bring a tear to my eyes? Maybe it's all the good memories to Tenacious D and seeing other people that probably feel the same. So glad to see them killing it still to this day.
