interesting to see how many of these indicate that many rooms used to be just slightly bigger makes me think they went through the game with a fine comb to make sure that each room "felt" right and made minor adjustments
I have gotta say my life is in a downright terrible place right now and seeing a new biospark video in my feed was like a little beam of relief shone down on me. Maybe that sounds dramatic but it was just nice to be blessed with a little treat when I'm in dire, dire need of little treats.
5:39 definitely that beta room in release the BG1 layer has a spot for a morphball tunnel actually this makes me think this room connected to that weird data room from the beta the room was revised and the lower wall was pushed back and then the data room was revised and the morphball tunnel was blocked off
Yeah, it's really interesting that they left the tunnel but blocked it off. I guess they left it as a way to entice players to bomb there, but they could have just made the floor cracked instead
I wish we knew what kind of software the games were made with, it might shed some light on some of this stuff. I feel like, for instance, a lot of the machinery you see in the background was dragged in as the full set and edited afterwards, which would explain why they extend so far into unseen areas. Probably copied and pasted a lot of stuff to be 1 tile higher, like with a lot of the plants.
i get some of these are dev testings, but some of these i feel like are intentional with the game design and how the bosses are destroying the station so some things are intentionally out of place, but that’s just my 2 cents
0:40 the top gray blocks are for when you break the speedbooster and crumble blocks there why they are there on the top and bottom for both hallways idk also theres another unseeable tile behind the BG0 layer
~0:39 My first thought is that this looks like the floor/ceiling of an elevator... But not quite the kind you normally see in Metroid. I'm probably overthinking this, but maybe it *was* an elevator before they decided to have you Shinespark instead?
Looks a bit like the "hatch" on the left, except without the shading detail. Could've been the first rendition for the backround tiles for when you shinesparked through the hull there. Either that or a possible "door" of some kind.
I think the grey blocks outside the restricted sector are from those assets being reused and some textures being covered instead of removed. Where are they from originally you may ask? Why, lower sector 4, of course.
Been watching your channel since I was a kid, really fascinating stuff. Also, really hate to get off topic but do you have a full res image of your channel background? I want to use it for a desktop bg but the version I can download off YT has a bit of JPEG crust
Wouldn't all those extra sprites result in a lot of wasted memory throughout the game? Also, what is that little radar thing next to the map in the beta screenshots?
This video shows that Fusion was clearly the devs' first rom hack. They should have waited for MAGE, then they wouldn't have had these errors.
Don't listen to this guy he hacks GBAtroids
Who had “biospark uploads a new video” on their 2024 bingo card?
Not me!
not me at all
My boy is alive
The king returns with more obscure Metroid Fusion facts!
Can't wait to get educated!

Amazing that you managed to align that perfectly

pretty cool that you can squeeze out more fusion content even years after the game came out
i always wondered why you can suddenly see those fences when you walk through certain doors! very neat

I'm so glad you made a new upload! Thank you!
this game won't ever stop to have content to show, thank you biospark for this
The legend is back ! I watched your videos a year or two ago and I'm glad you came back to show more cool facts.
And when the world needed him most, he returned.

Wake up people! Biospark just posted.
The hidden BG2 in Sector 4 Room 7 was likely made to cover up space that the rounded corner tile would make.
Ah good catch, there are 3 pixels on the corner where the BG2 shows through
Keep in mind that some cases of background elements extending further into walls could be a case of using transparent tiles.
Long time no see! Glad to see new biospark content, I had wondered where you went and I'm glad you came back! :)

Top 5 hidden tile jumpscare
⚠️Scary alert⚠️
Dude I played the whole game in Nintendo switch online
Protip: Don't watch this after taking a metric fuckton of acid
THE KING HAS RETURNED
or it‘s his son that we don‘t know about

idk
also theres another unseeable tile behind the BG0 layer
The rare biospark noti, you love to see it. Thanks again for MAGE.
Oh neat! I wonder how well someone could use these as a basis for a "Beta Fusion" hack, it'd be neat to see a recreation of that stuff!
Que felicidad, new Metroid Fusion content. 🥵

3:19 looks like sector 1 room 27 was copy pasted from room C? (or vice versa)
the door frames match up and the first bit of grass sprites do as well
Holy cow, new Biospark!
Oh snap you’re back
man,you love this game
My question is how did he find these. Was he looking specifically for things like this or did he stumble on it as a result of something else
I wrote a level editor that lets you toggle each background on and off, so they're easy to spot if you turn off BG1 and look at each room
holy shit he's back
Rare Biospark upload :O
the king is back
omg the legendary biospark is back😀

when biospark uploads a new video, im full of joy
you're alive no way
0:44 Those tiles appear after you destroy the pb tiles I think
wonder if any of the sector 1 bits matches up to that beta map screen stuff i did
Bro finally posted!
Commenting so my comment goes down in history till the next video in a few years.
Very interesting!
Idk about you guys but that's definitely me when the layout was different
How much space could have been saved on the cartridge with all these extra tiles?
Not very much, actually. Space isn't really an issue for Fusion. The game is 8MB and GBA games can be up to 32MB
Been watching your channel since I was a kid, really fascinating stuff. Also, really hate to get off topic but do you have a full res image of your channel background? I want to use it for a desktop bg but the version I can download off YT has a bit of JPEG crust
Awesome
Oh cool! Subbed.
Wouldn't all those extra sprites result in a lot of wasted memory throughout the game?
Also, what is that little radar thing next to the map in the beta screenshots?
Not at all, it's only a few extra bytes for each one
The SA-X detector that wasn‘t used because SA-C encounters became scripted
See you in 2026
