- Raiden from MK9 has made many controversial choices. And today. We're going to look at them. And laugh at it...or defend it???
This has always been an interesting topic I wanted to explore. And hopefully the comment section will be filled with fruitful and civilized discussions....hopefully XD

Shinnok isn't dead. Just decapitated.
Hey, it's the British version of Angry Video Game Nerd!
Raiden just blinded him XD
He Just sleep .
If I unsubscribe and resubscribe will sonichaxd still get shocked???
Shoa kan isn't dead just blinded
Clearly, the 'he' in "he must win" was referring to Reptile in the first fight of the tournament.Raiden missed out on the best possible timeline resulting from that outcome.
BASED
Yea i hope raiden gets at least 5% smarter in mortal kombat 1
We already seen Reptile winning in Mortal Kombat 4. It gone really well.
Then in this timeline we got movie where Reptile defeats Liu Kang and instead of techno we got traditional music from Zaterra😂
@@SonicHaXD about the mk vs dc universe IN MY OPINION.
Raiden was Affected by the rage/cringe you can see his eyes glowing a bit yellow as well as superman
"This was all Kronica's fault, Lui Kang. She conspired to force us to fight each other so i would defeat you. And not just in this timeline, but every timeline!"
"Unbelievable, Lord Raiden, that...Wait. you win every time? In every timeline? I dont beat you even once?
"No, Lui Kang. You get folded back savage every single time. Like a lawn chair, chosen one."
"Shao Khan was throwing you around like a toddler, Lord Raiden. He bodied you. When i fought him i turned his ribcage into a bay view window. Wouldn't that make me stronger than you?"
"That's not how these games work, Lui Kang. Stop thinking logically and trust in the Elder Gods."
“It’s like rock, paper, scissors Liu Kang. You beat Shao Kahn, Shao Kahn beats me, I spank your ass blue.”
@@pearsemolloy9656 😂
"We don't have Power Levels in this universe Liu Kang..."
Wasn't shao khan amped by the armageddon?
Looking at the fights, they seem to be pretty even and raiden's victory is probably kronika's ensuring it somehow, because with enough timelines, liu kang should've won some normally
@@thelastmlg2699 Lui Kang probably should have won all of them. Shao Khan was powered by Armageddon at the start of 9, but wasn't at the end of 9 when he still beat Raiden like a redheaded stepchild. Inbetween, he got fisted by Lui Kang. He also lost to Kitana later, but the power levels may have been different cause of time travel. Either way Lui Kang has never lost to Kitana in any timeline, and has apparently never won against Raiden.
Future Raiden: Lui Kang win, Lui Kang win, Shao Kahn win
Past Raiden getting the message: 👁️👄👁️
He might actually get the message at the start of the invasion. At first he wouldn't know what's going on and what he's past self meant, after lui kang wins, he starts to slowly understand, but he still needed conformation, to see if he is right. Liu kang wins again, only then does he know what it means, it might even prevent Liu Kang's death.
Sounds like a fucking cheat code, I love it
Kung Lao was 100% ready for that fight, he proved it in the preliminary match. Shao Khan murked him 'cause _he was a real threat._ Let me re-iterate that: *_Shao Khan was afraid of being killed by Kung Lao._*
Razor Boi deserves just as must respect as Scaly Boi.
Just like frieza to the saiyans
It didn't help that the person that shared the same name almost ruined his plans last time until Goro put an end to him. This time he made sure another Kung Lao won't be ruining his parade.
@@djgabucaythat’s completely different hell it wasn’t even a surprise attack he fought the sayains
Maybe he knew he could survive being punched but was afraid of being cut in half or decapitated
🎉😅😅😅😅
"Kahn must merge" might have also led Raiden to concluce he needed to let Kahn win the tournament.
That might still be interpreted as "win the tournament"
Perhaps "invade"?
@@thelastmlg2699 same problem, lmao.
The message must be sent to the Raiden post-MK2, when Outworld already invades
Tbf, "he must win" could also be applied to the tournament in the same way. So the original message messed up cuz he wasn't even talking about the tournament
@@rosestar1324 It could but the fact that he didn't say "Kahn must win" doesn't carry the implication he should let Kahn win the tournament, because Raiden naturally wouldn't assume that.
Additionally on point 2. There's no heckin way he could have predicted Sindel or any of Shao Kahn's lieutenants to be THAT powerful. That was a pretty unique circumstance.
"I've turned my back for five seconds!"
Additionally, this has been pre-retcon Sindel in his visions, not the empowered by Shang Tsung's soul.
@Buck Honestly, I was just happy my main boy Johnny survived and was the ONLY character to be in all three parts of this Netherrealm trilogy and survive.
I need to talk to the EG's, and just bc I'm too shy to go alone, lemme bring the strongest fighter there for comfort
@@monitaylor9859He could have wanted someone who was actually involved in the tournament and the cheating events to speak but Lui wasn’t given an opportunity due to the fight
Sindel wins because the writers were full of bullshit that day and they said "She must win"
To be fair to Future Raiden, if he said “Shao Kahn must win!” Present Raiden might’ve thought he needed to let Shao Kahn win the Mortal Kombat Tournament…
And if he said, shao khan must break the rules
@@max20009822 That would’ve been a lot better lol
Same outcome either way. Whether Shao Kahn won in MK1, 2, or 3.... it would've ended in a merger regardless. And neither Raiden nor the ElderGods could stop it.
The loophole in MK3 allowed Shao Kahn to merge Earthrealm with Outworld. The Elder Gods couldn't intervene. Raiden wasn't in the game (not even in UMK3), because Earthrealm was no more, and thus Earthrealm's protector God got yeeted into the void.
The only way to stop it was for Kitana to reawaken Sindel's memories, and thus turn on Shao Kahn, and for Kahn to be defeated (in MK3's case it was Liu Kang who did it). Allowing the merger would be the dumbest thing to do. "Future Raiden" / Raiden from that timeline, would be well aware of this. The problem is that the writers didn't.
@@EndoScorpion he was in MK Trilogy though which was technically the true final version of MK3 but with everyone playable in the original trilogy era.
No thats the problem.
If past Raiden let Shao Kahn win the tournement, Then Earthrealm would be lost.
Future Raiden was thinking of the illegal Invasion Shao Kahn attempted after losing TWICE in a row.
THATS when he had to win.
He probably attempted to send the message right before Kahn started the illegal invasion but being beaten by a sledgehammer can cause some inaccuracy in relating a message through time.
If I was Raiden, the message I'd send back would have been "He must break the rules".
Shao Kahn already broke the rules by killing Kung Lao without initiating Kombat
@@dougtheghoul2845 And Elder God do nothing about it.
How is that different tho? It’s still vague as fck.
He must break rules and merge the realms
I would say "make sure shao kahn is dead". So instead of just letting outworld keep the body after Liu Kang won, you just disintegrate him
"Win the tournaments, lose the invasion" would have been the perfect thing to say
This one is not too bad XD
The stupid thing about kung lao's death was that the tournament was technically over so not only did shao kahn kill him not in kombat but raiden could fight kahn, which was why he started charging a blast but then stopped when Liu kang tackled him, we could have had a raiden and Liu kang vs shao kahn, not only would it be cool, but the players would have a tag team fight on their side for once in this story
Yep, such wasted potential!
Funny thing is, Raiden was ready to throw down when Shao Khan killed Kung Lao, regardless of the rules
No the final kombatant was Shao Khan not Kintaro. Otherwise the Elder Gods wouldve gave the signal that it was over. He reacted out of anger not because he could fight
@@ShakaZ3D but if Shao can just sneak behind the opponent without initiating a tournament fight, then Raiden can turn Shao to dust without initiating kombat either. Too bad Liu Kang got him first
@@electrichat I agree. I wanted Raiden to put a hole in Shao Khan's chest when I first saw that scene
You should do a "reptile sucks", with his downgrade from a hidden boss to a common enemie with the inclusion of the other downgrade from being a elite bodyguard to cannon fodder henchmen.

Btw I agree, while Raiden has had his dumb moments he definitely isn’t all to blame for all the bad that has happened.
You were the last person I expected to be a Raider defender.
Now lets play Tomb Raiden.
@@secondaryfront Lana Cnoft is my favorite character.
7:30 One thing to note about the Sindel massacre. The only reason Shao powered Sindel up with Tsung juice was because Raiden killed Motaro, which he didn't do in the original timeline, based on the fact it seems he only did so cause of the visions. So the massacre is his fault in an indirect manner at least.
I wouldn't really say it was a fault of his just he killed an Outworld invader
@@Yougotcaged102 That's why I said indirectly his fault.
The massacre is not his fault Raiden was unaware of Sindel resurrection nor knew of her heading towards the cathedral to try and kill them all when he returned he was in shock with what happened when he was away and I don't know why he took Liu Kang with him.
That's a little far fletcher to claim it was his, it's like blaming the taxi guy for dropping off an axe murderer
@@Ashbrash1998 No he killed him. There’s a cutscene after he saves Johnny from dying by Motaro’s hands. And Khan gets pissed at Shang so he takes his soul and lets Quan Chi handle the rest.
I never blamed Raiden for what happened in this timeline. He did the best he could with what little information he had. He clearly feels immense guilt for his mistakes and gives his divinity to Liu Kang without hesitation at the end of MK11 because he believes that Liu will do a better job protecting Earthrealm than he did. Looking forward to seeing his and Liu Kang's roles reversed in MK1.
16:47 is one of my favorite parts. Editing is 👌🏾
17:51 Quan-chi still has UwU on his back and I can't take that seriously anymore. Thank you Sonic
I’ll never forget how in MK11 when kotal meets past Raiden he tried to absolve himself of outworld and earthrealm having a shitty relationship by acting like he didn’t try to invade earthrealm in mkx.

@@kowx8649There are already 2 of these.
@@vaggos2003 I know
17:20 thats an interesting idea. Seeing as Liu Kang was already distrusting of some of Raidens decisions. Having Raiden FINALLY relent at the end and let Liu Kang handle it would cause Liu Kang to distrust him a bit going forward. Almost like "i still think youre crazy based on earlier decisions." Which i think would make for some interesting drama between the two in 10 and 11.
Yes and that would lead to another MK Armaggedon and maybe a different one where Human Liu Kang will have to face Blaze instead of Taven.
I feel that Raiden being right all along was necessary for the story though otherwise he would have looked like an absolute clown making him a joke for the rest of the series.
What would have worked better is seeing Raiden relent on Liu Kang's demands only for "Kung Lao" and Quan Chi to teleport in and fight Liu Kang. At the end of the fight we see Liu Kang tired as he dropped "Kung Lao" as Raiden fights Quan Chi. Shao Khan then approaches the portal, causing Liu Kang to notice and turn away just to have his neck be snapped by Shang Tsu/"Kung Lao". The rest of the cast show up and fight off the two as the events unfold as they did.
I wonder if the time vision ability is something Dark Raiden specifically studied as his hidden ace in case he didn’t come out on top in the Battle of Armageddon, or even earlier as a backup plan to overcome Onaga. This seems exactly like the kind of extreme measure Dark Raiden would be more than willing to exploit, and it explains why young vanilla Raiden can’t use it, because he hasn’t looked into it yet, and considering how it works out at the end of the day, it makes sense why he wouldn’t later on in the NRS trilogy.
I think the reason Liu Kang died in MK9 is that, given how ontop of being electrocuted he also appears to be on fire, Raiden didn't strike with lethal force, but it was still enough force that it disrupted Liu Kangs fire as he was charging up his attack making him he consumed by his own flame and Raidens lightning
Same
So basically he died because of his own power and Raiden combined
Okay see, I personally always thought the reason Raiden accidentally killed Liu Kang was because when he used his lightning to try and stop Liu Kang, it mixed with His fire that he was preparing to use and it basically overloaded Liu Kang and that’s why his body was scorched
The more I think about it. The more I agree XD
I actually do like Raiden from mk9 and onwards. It just sucks that they took out Dark Raiden from mk11's story
Raiden is actually one of my favorite characters

2:04
That guy hit the nail on the head perfectly.
Seriously the elder gods in this new timeline are like that one little kid on the playground that invents a new game, but always changes the rules so that he never loses even if they make no sense.
I believe the technical term is "Calvinball".
@@Apathy293 i understood that reference
@@Apathy293 Calvin and Hobbes fan in 2023? Nice
That and they got killed by Cetrion so they really did suck this time, but to be fair its likely they were doing dumb shit in MK9 and MK11 because Cetrion was constantly messing with them for her mom
Well, then again, you have to think about it logically, Armageddon Raiden was about to die, so he probably didn’t have time to pick a specific time to send back the message, while I think “Kahn Must Merge” is the more logical message to send back, you got a remember you didn’t have any time to pick a certain point and send it
Maybe he should've said "don't let Lui die in deadly alliance" 🤣
Maybe just "Kill Shang Tsung"
I think the reason why the visions are used as a last ditch effort is because rewriting the past completely erases the raiden from the future from existence because his timeline gets changed. Plus the chance that you make a worse future by accident
Could have easily been where he needs the Shinnok amulet thing to send messages to the past. Mortal Kombat X would have excuse of the amulet doing hot potato among the cast and Raiden not knowing the amulet can do that. Mortal Kombat 11 excuse of not using amulet to send message to his past self after learning the power would be fear of the amulet corrupting him
When Raiden said "He must win", he meant Mokap should be allowed to merge the realms of manual keyframing animation and motion capture. Which is why with every new MK game, more and more motion capture is utilized in gameplay, cutscenes and fatalities
17:20 About the final boss in story mode and Liu Kang defeating him. I agree with you about that, but let’s do a little change. MK9 have a tag-team mode. So why not make Raiden AND Liu Kang vs OP Shao Kahn? In my opinion that would be great
"I personally think the one to blame, is the one who murdered him" amazing quote right there
18:36 I think what they meant with the "payment" is that shao kahn can easily take the souls for himself but Quan Chi agreed to help him only if he got those souls to help with the resurrection of Shinnok.
I was about to say I think because Shao Khan's forces killed them he gets reign over their souls much like how he held Edenian's souls prisoner inside Ermac. With Shao Khan killing Kung Lao, Sindel killing everyone and being the reason Nightwolf died, and Sindel being Shao Khan's wife meant he owned her.
However you could counter argue this with Liu Kang, since he died by Raiden's hands and yet somehow Quan Chi was able to make him a revenant
I think it’s because they were killed by Sindel so he was able to claim their souls
Raiden is the heart of why MK story stuff is so fun.
Then they completely ruin it in the later games via evil Raiden, then killing him off 10 mins in the game.
He is like the second protagonist besides liu kang
@@masterzombie161agreed,i kind of miss old raiden now ngl.new raiden is like a knock off liu kang
10:10 I thought it was obvious that the reason why Liu Kang died is because their powers combined with each other. Raiden shoot the lightning, he was safe, but Liu Kang was holding the flame in his hand. It combusted, burning his body with combination of fire and lightning. If Raiden was covered in lightnings and Liu Kang shot his fires, the same fate would have happened to the Raiden.
It truly is an accident and no one's fault. No one could foresee that the combination of fire and lightning would be like Chidori and Rasengan clashing.
14:05 - “Cause, the Elder Gods don’t give a sh*t.” I always loved that part. Nice video, by the way.
I knew that you'd defend Raiden in MK9 Story, he really did his best. And being honest, of all the characters in MK9 and their decisions, Raiden is not THAT stupid compare to others like Bi Han waiting until his last second to tell Scorpion that he wasn't who murdered his family XD
Bi Han already told him in mythologies (and its cannon to the lore) but Scorpion turn a deaf ear
@@osirisjojo6876 it's right, it's right
@@osirisjojo6876 I don't know if mythologies is still canon though considering MK9 is a reboot.
@@InitialPC No its a retelling of mk1 to mk3 since it begin at the aftermath of MK Armageddon so it is cannon. Its just that ed boon doesn't care and the writers aren't passionate about. They're only there for the green
@@osirisjojo6876 It's not a retelling, it's a reboot.
For example, Cyber Smoke is no longer canon because they changed that.
I freaking love Raiden! He’s the best and he acknowledges his mistakes and learns emotions and how to use them. Like compassion and love 💕
You are beautiful
If he learns every time he still messes up then it means nothing
YEEEEAAAASSSSSS BLUNDER GOD RAIDEN BEST BOI
I love your take of what if "Liu Kang lives/revived in MKX."
In fact I wanna see Liu Kang leaves in Mk9 finale rather than got killed by Raiden and become exiled.
It could be much more interesting conflict in MKX story as he abandoned Raiden and Elder Gods, until eventually meeting the "Kids" to mentor them and decide to aid them, giving Liu Kang a second chance to trust Raiden once more.
Dark Raiden should've said "Shao Kahn must Die"
I loved the bit of Raiden saying he beat the shit out of Liu Kang in every timeline and I also cracked up at the lighting sound effects16:19. This game can really be summed up as the Raiden and the elder gods being really shitty at their jobs. I legit feel bad for Liu Kang as he put his full faith in Raiden and well look where it got him and the others.
Wait a minute
If it's specifically Khan's death that resolves everything and splits the timeline. Then shouldn't Dark Raiden have just said "Kahn must die"?
Like, if Raiden had just let Liu Kang fight Shao Khan at the end and Liu Kang won and killed him, would that not have resulted in the same outcome?
Hell.
If Liu had just ensured Khan's death in their first fight. Just OVERKILLED him. Make sure he was never coming back, would that not have resolved everything?
I fail to see how the Elder Gods intervening made a meaningful difference.
The merger of the realms didn't really have fuck all to do with it.
Liu Kang did fight Shao Kahn in the original timeline and both times he survived. The idea here is with the power of the elder gods they could kill him for good.
@@fightingmedialounge519 But if the initial blast from the Elder Gods could only tickle his tips, does that not imply that Liu kang could have potentially destroyed him?
Seeing as he already won without their power
Or is this a thing of like. Even if his body is destroyed, he could still come back. But the Elder Gods took his soul when Raiden killed him or something?
I mean, if Liu Kang turned into a Dragon and vored Khan, would that not be "killing him for good"?
@@JarlCrimson sonic is saying that more as a joke. The blast itself is meant to depower him to make it easier for Raiden to kill him.
The idea is more suppose to be that after raidens beats him down like Liu Kang did initially; they would finish the job eradicating him completely.
Probably not considering both the original mk2 and 3 had Shao Kahn explode yet still be alive.
Raiden's amulet was connected to the shadow realms which have a direct relationship with the power of combatants, and at the end of Armageddon they were basically at massive amounts of power and when raiden did that he probably didn't even think it would work, it was basically a "I will defy you until the very end" move, also another theory, Shao Kahn became stupid in the new timeline because raiden messed with his brain smh.😂
The ending was the true cherry on top.
This video made me realize Liu Kang being revived and deciding he's done fighting for Raiden or for the elder gods and goes to live in solitude, only to hear Raiden went Dark Raiden and he is the only one who can stop Raiden so comes back to fight would've been much interesting than what revenant Liu Kang does in MKX and 11
In general, I have some crazy theory, but I will still express it. Why is Raiden so special? Why exactly is he a "compact hourglass" and why exactly can he restart the story just because of his amulet. What is the point. What if this very amulet was given to Raiden by Cetrion? What if Cetrion, knowing about her mother's plan, and still hesitating between evil and light, decided to hedge her bets and give Raiden a chance to change everything with her intervention in time. Perhaps Cetrion Amulet endowed Raiden's amulet with such abilities thanks to the fact that she is the daughter of the titanide of time and has a particle of her abilities. I know this is complete nonsense, but.. Perhaps this explains something. Besides, it makes Cetrior not so useless..
Sorry for possible mistakes, as I wrote the text through a translator
Snake's cameo was hilarious and loool at Pain's theme appearing 😂
I love the helluva boss reference at 16:12
I think the reason Liu Kang came with Raiden is because Raiden, at the time, believed Liu Kang was to win, so he wanted to keep him close.
Although I highly doubt NRS knew what they were doing in 2011.
The writers over there haven't known what they were doing since MKvDC.
or maybe to show liu kang that elder gods were trustworthy because he thought they would have actually helped
@@HawaiianMaugaMain kind of pointless to only show him.
I feel like the reason Liu Kang was with Raiden during the Sindel Massacre was because realistically liu kang himself would’ve probably beat Sindel and the writers wouldn’t know what to do next
Nightwolf would have beaten sindel if writers acc remembered he can do his death beam without suicide and can teleport inside it lmao, along with other abilities. It’s the fact the writers were stupid in writing how they went out
4:03 I agree Raiden was given a huge burden to carry, and him trying to save and help as many people as he possibly could while dealing with the whole timeline resting on his shoulders shows how good Raiden truly was.
9:35 what if raiden just teleported lui kang away and teleported back by himself, leaving lui kang pissed off by himself, then raiden just comes back with the dub leaving lui kang speechless 😂
I love how Raiden was smart enough to come up with that whole plan to warn his past self on the verge of death, and yet he wasn't smart enough to realize that, in the comically vague way that he phrased it in, the message pretty much doesn't mean anything or help anyone in any way. Even if present Raiden could somehow tell that he was referring to Shao Kahn and they let him 'win' the tournament, he could have just merged the realms without breaking the rules.
17:32 That Girei do hit hard.
This is quite shocking! I'm sure this will be lightening up my day!

This may have been the biggest cinematic plot twist I have ever seen in a long while and I'm all here for it
You know how to subvert everyone's expectations better than Ruin Johnson.
Idk if this was also mentioned but Sindel's massacre? It was literally an ambush. Nothing had happened for the past few chapters so it's not Raiden's fault he thought nothing would continue to happen to them until then (this could also be a lapse of his judgement), and he trusted the Earthrealm Warriors to be able to defend themselves, they did pretty well all things considered. Raiden was as shocked as Liu Kang to bear witness to it.
The writer's just have a hate boner for Raiden istg

My best part in mk11 is the chapter the show the flashback between Liu Kang and Raiden fighting 🔥
To quote a comment in your "Revenants Suck" video: "Remember kids! Always consult with the Elder Gods"
You should rename this video to "In Defense of Raiden" That way people are more likely to watch it since it's a rare perspective (and the correct one in my opinion, poor Raiden)
Shao Kahn isn’t dead. Just dead
5:22 It would have literally as easy as just making Raiden go "Kung Lao, watch out!" moments before he gets his neck snapped, it would have shown Raiden at the very least tried to warn him.
He would have snapped his neck before you could even yell out his name.
To be fair, Raiden also could’ve interrupted the Lin Kuei kidnapping Kuai Liang the same way he did for Smoke
Finally, someone else sees my point of view on Raiden!
I always interpreted Quan Chi line as that everyone who dies in the invasion either is absorbed by Shao Kahn or used on Ermac by default so Quan Chi took a deal to take Earthrealm souls from either Shao Kahn or Ermac
I’m not a fan of how quickly they reset the time lines as they did, but at the very least it will be interesting to see how Liu Kang takes the mantle and how he bears Raiden’s burden. Maybe he’ll poses the memories MKX Liu had, or at the very least, have access to those events thanks to the Hour Glass.
Either way, I heard Raiden will be returning in MK1 so we’ll see how it goes. Maybe they’ll use this clean slate as a chance to start something better with their characters
We saw what looks like to be a human Raiden in the trailer, his appearance concerns me.
I have 0 faith in the story.
They have proven to be incompetent, 0 substance.

PS.: I can't wait for people to be question and meme Liu Kang's decisions in this new timeline. Simply the Chosen One, the MK Champion, the one we for sure can count on to protect the good guys. After all, that's a certain thing us MK fans do all the time when it comes to the lore XD. And Liu Kang is my favorite. He is such a cool and badass character in his Fire God design =)
We should actually have an
“Elder Gods Sucks” video
Can we just get an mk game where 4thsnake plays everyone
Do an MK9 and MKX tier list. The MK11 one was probably my favorite video on your channel.
15:29 a wee little Gigimon 🤣🤣🤣
9:20 There needs to be an MK game where the heroes, including Raiden lose faith in the Elder Gods and realise they don't help anyone and consulting them is pointless.
Ever since I was a kid i hated raiden down bad but now that I’m older and you brought up these mentions..I’m more forgiving now to raiden
I wish you had more content to work off cause you ARE SO FUN
I think the part where Raiden goes to Quan Chi and the latter says how Earthrealm's souls were Shao Kahn's "payment" is referring to Shao Kahn ensuring the deaths of those warriors to allow Quan chi to turn them into revenants for free
For the people on the Kung Lao neck snap, it is important to remember that the riders do stick to their own rules that even if Raiden saw it coming, he could not do anything as far as I remember they stuck to it that he cannot fight unless he is directly challenged. Even better, when Lao dies rate in immediately goes to attack but Liu Kang beats him to it
I did not expect the 4thSnake face to look like that, he looks like the nostalgia critic.
8:45 OMG these are the same words he said against shang tsung in aftermath. And also that is the opption where he dies. Really ironic
having The4thSnake do some bits in your sucks series reminds me that maybe you should bring in underdawg for one of them, the three Kombat Kings would be hilarious in edited video format
1:40. I think raiden here should’ve said *“Win without victory”*. It’s still cryptic to decipher. But it makes sense that considering one of the basic rules of MK is that one realm must win 10 tournaments in a row in order to merge with another. Shao khan lost the last 2 tournaments. And the kicker as to why shao khan was killed by the EGs, was because of the principal of MK is that someone needed to be directly challenged (or declared by the host), which is why raiden took the beating by shao khan and didn’t fight back at the end of the game. While invading another realm was fine, shao khan couldn’t merge because no one was strong enough to challenge him since liu kang died. Hence why the EG say “you merge without victory in MK. “
Say had raiden not killed liu kang and liu challenged shao khan, that would be fine by the elder gods and they would not have interfered. Meaning if liu kang had lost shao khan would be able to merge or liu kang would’ve continued the original timeline (somewhat slightly altered). Even though there was no tournament involved.
Also to back up my point: if you look at the 3d era of MK games, the elder gods did literally
(Directly) nothing when the realms were at stake. Because raiden challenged the DA; shujinko challenged onaga; and the pyramid of Argus was essentially an arena where all the kombatants were to challenge each other.
