And Walter makes one for him in the finaly so he can be free.

@@mariades1423 He took a bullet for Jesse that ended up killing him, risked his future with Gus by running over his men to save Jesse. He let Jane die to save Jesse from a overdose, maybe some of that was for him but the intention was clearly for Jesse. It was also evident he didn’t care at all about the money, as he executed Jack right before he was going to talk about it, plus he already gave his family money. And again, after the fight with Jesse, Walter calls his own son “Jesse”. So yeah Walter did care about Jesse, maybe wasn’t the most perfect and honest relationship but it was definitely a thing. (He whispered Jesse in the car when Badger and Skinny P were talking about him, right after he threatened Gretchen and Eliott

There's an interesting tension between scientists and engineers. Scientists do the basic research that establishes the foundation for engineering, but can get lost in theory, endlessly researching more shit and accomplishing nothing. Engineers take what scientists discover and turn it into something that is actually useful. Walt is an engineer, whether it be drugs, bombs or machine guns.
In rare cases, such as Archimedes, Avicenna (Ibn Sina) or Leonardo da Vinci, you get both. But in general, that is the divide that has characterized science since it began.
My father is an engineer. He can take apart and put back together a motorcycle, flawlessly, with his eyes closed. I admire engineers and feel they are underappreciated, because while scientists built the foundation for the modern world, engineers are the ones who actually *built* the modern world. They take theory and actualize it.

Just realized something. The motor for the machine gun turret is a garage door opener. But the key fob he uses to trigger it is a car key fob. I know those are probably more recognizable, but I wonder why they didn't just have Walt use the garage door opener (make it into a key chain if needed) rather than using the car key fob. Still a great and memorable scene. Cheers.

Walt is smart enough to use a machine gun. With his sick, old and dying body, there is no way he can rush in with an assault rifle, to take on the entire gang even if they have pistols only. Basically, he is using the leverage of a robot, to help him shoot down bad guys.

On top of being a Master Chemist, Walt built:
a car battery out of plastic tubs, sponges and copper,
a bomb out of a material from a kid's toy,
and a remote swivel to support and auto-fire a M-60.
He also founded a multi-billion-dollar company called Gray Matter.
Yet, he chose to produce Meth.
