Cool. Didn't know about widening that bottom hem this way. I'd recommend pressing the side seam open tho. Will make the seam look flat and like the original seam. !
This was hella helpful. I was just wondering tho, why remove the waistband in the first place if ut just altering the rest of the pants? Is it so it matches up w it in the end?
Awesome video! Have you tried sewing the inseam instead of the outseam? I find it's a lot less tedious and then you don't have to restitch the waist band
Wondering if temporary hem tape would work for the time being. Got a pair of cargo pants and for the time being want to use hem tape that you can iron on.
Great video! Quick question, could you do this with a pair of semi wide denim? Like not crazy baggy, just a bit wider than a regular pair. Would anything change? Thank you!
in my experience old machines are less likely to break if anything... less plastic parts and if they are somewhat well maintained will run forever. otherwise good video great idea!!!
That was sweet 👍 so at the bottom of the needles when your doing the thigh tapper you just flare the sewing out above/at the knee to the edge of the pant? Pretty obvious I guess but otherwise you’d just stop at the end of the pins 😅
@@alex_schenck could you perhaps share what the techniques are called for repairing the hoodies? Can I find a tutorial elsewhere? Or did you make it up yourself? Thanks :)
Well taught - clear and straight- forward. Using the right size needle (#16/100 for denim) is more important even than your sewing machine.
great video, i’ve always wondered how your pants always have a perfect fit. going to do this once i get my sewing machine !
Appreciate that!

Awesome video! Have you tried sewing the inseam instead of the outseam? I find it's a lot less tedious and then you don't have to restitch the waist band
I did do it that way for a while but realized it isn’t as accurate and doesn’t look as good
@@alex_schenck true, i just find it easier for my purposes
great video! do you think it would for with chino-like textures? im afraid it will rip the pants too fast
You could try I have no idea tho I’m no expert
Great video bro, can you show us how to repair garments like the hoodies you do or denim
I prob wont for a whilleeeee
just what i needed thanks mate
Ofc!
After you cut up the inseam and match the sides to give the bottom hem more room..do you just sew a straight line up to where you stopped opening it?
Yes exactly

@@neo2190 cause straight legged ones don’t flatter a rectangular body shape.

Most likely you could yes
@@alex_schenck thanks! As they are already a bit wider than straight fit, do you think I still have to go gradually outwards from the knee down?

We need more vid uploads I've watched every vid atp
Can i hand sew my pants following this tutorial or use a sewing machine without overlock?
Yeah it would just be longer process

nice job, how much time does it take approximately?
This takes me around a hour without recording
Anything you could specifically say to a tailor if you’re not interested in doing it yourself to get the same/similar results?
im wondering too
Why is this specific only to 501s?
Be waaaaiting for thiss

What are your sewing machine settings btw?
I’ll have to check because I have no idea lmfao
That was sweet 👍 so at the bottom of the needles when your doing the thigh tapper you just flare the sewing out above/at the knee to the edge of the pant? Pretty obvious I guess but otherwise you’d just stop at the end of the pins 😅
Exactly yeah I would just take the taper a bit past the knee then gradually go outwards
how long would you reccomend the pants to be? should it go under your feet when youre barefoot?
Yeah!
I’d say about a inch and a half longer than regular inseam
sick dude thanks
why do you have to cut off the waist?
To sew the top of the thigh
Why not use 505?
W vid, am going to try that and absolutely ruin some test jeans lets go
Ahhahahah

Not doing all that I‘m just buying a pair of 517s stay safe tho
🫡
517s do not fit anywhere close to perfect out the box lmao
older machines that are metal are actually better for use on denim just look up ur machine before you use it
Use denim needles and they won’t break.
W
Better to buy Levis 517 bootcut...instead of going through such a lengthy process
Agree but people wanted the vid lol
@@alex_schenck yeah, but I did get an idea of how bootcut pants should really fit. Cool tips

What a waste of time/energy. Just buy a bootcut jeans😅
Why buy an extra pair of jeans when you can alter a pair so it fits you well?
my pfaff made in eastern germany will sew through 5 levels of denim stacked.
