I found out I had CKD as an incidental finding. I had back pain. My wife, an FNP, thought my back pain could be kidney stones; she told me to get an ultrasound from my NP. No stones. RENAL CYSTS! Simple cysts. I had a GFR of 76 when a year prior it was 94!
I had schlerotherapy, all three cysts drained, collapsed, nuked with alcohol….and 6 months later they showed full return on an MRI.
I have proteinuria, but my EGFR now is 84. I’m on a low protein diet.
I would LOVE it if you guys could do a show on renal cysts and how they fit into all this. Mine cause me major pain. 6 cm cyst is no joke.
Kidneys are a mystery. I’ve gone my whole life not drinking, 30 years no beef or pork, don’t smoke, not a doughnuts and soda guy, mostly plant-based…..but genetics got me….

I suspected that I had CKD a year ago when I saw my urine foamy. As lab test this year I was sentenced to CKD stage3 from my diabetic
A ultrasound reveal was diagnosed with hydronephrosis. I had a CAT Scan done to see what else. Kidney stones were ruled out. Still a mystery. Still get discomfort that comes and goes.
What about pain and sore in the kidney?
I fried my kidneys using prework outs and whey also i drink coffee GFR started dropping was 67 i got an ultra sound and they said my kidney are the right size and blood flow is good no blood or protein in my urine does this mean i can recover?

Pls help in my case. 270mg protein in urine(24hr urine test). Bp-125/85. Hemoglobin 17.7(Negative JAK2, normal EPO, normal LDH).
USG abdomen clear. Blood and urine tests are clear(creatinine, albumins in serum/urine normal). A very dull back pain that comes in a while. What's still causing the protein leakage? Protein leakage happens ONLY AFTER WAKING UP FROM SLEEP(during the day its entirely normal). What could be happening during my sleep which is affecting the kidney to lose proteins after i wake up.
My Nephrologist says not to worry unless protein loss is above 500mg. But i think there could be some other underlying reason that's causing the leakage.
