    It is possible to see that you have put in the hours to have chords and melodies flow effortless from your fingers. The whole step bends behind the nut is something I've found a bit challenging to do, at least to be a seamless part of my playing. I think I just answered the challenge myself in my opening sentence 😄 And yes, I will be cheering on you getting the P90 shaped humbuckers for your Les Paul. If the P90s no longer do it for you, it would be interesting to hear how such kind of humbuckers would sound in that guitar. Extra bonus points if you can get them into the same kind of covers that you have for the P90's. Thanks for the music and the lesson. Always a treat 😊

    Fine playing as always kid, the old Tele sounding as mellow as ever, as requested here is a couple of stories . 1. A monkey and a hyena are walking across the Serengeti together, the hyena says " I'm braver than you ", monkey says " no you're not, I'm braver than you", just then a huge lion jumps out from a bush and starts mauling the hyena and the monkey shoots up a tree, when the lion goes away the hyena says with his dying breathe " they you, I thought you were braved than me why didn't you help me ? ", monkey the " with all that laughing I thought you were winning ". 2. Two Dockers knicked two boxes from a ship, when they get back to the pub they open them up, one of their mates asks what's in them, the first box has bottles of coka cola, they open up the second one and their mate asks what's in it, one of them tells him things, he asks what do you mean things, he says "THINGS GO BETTER WITH COKA COLA ".

    Thank you, Paul. This might seem weird, but thanks to you, I feel confident about playing music on electric guitar again. Because of the "trends" on social media, I felt like I had to just play 20 seconds of a show-off lick, but from you, I regained confidence that playing music is still accepted. I hope to feel confident enough to upload something soon. And of course Tobias and Casper helped too.

    Paul, Thank You so much for these excellent videos, Your views are right up my alley. You explain things well. I have dropped out a bit from music related vids but I recall one where you seemed to have hit a rough spot and were frustrated with feeling like you weren't advancing at one point. It has been perhaps 9 months and wow... you have progressed my friend. Thanks for the education!

    Humbuckers on the goldie just might be the ticket, Paul.
    If you were live, on stage I'd say no, but what you are doing these days, the P90s are just too unruly. Put them in a box to keep as original equipment and find a sound you like.🤙

      @@paulstaffordcook8799 Hey Paul. Thanks so much. After 40+ years of playing more or less rock, this is absolutely interesting for me. The older i get, the more i am into clean/edge of breakup sounds. Also a big fan of Tobias Hoffmann. Even the big stars like Tom Bukovac and Tim Pierce are talking about this topic sometimes. Greetz and all the best. ✌🏻

      @@CarstenGoekeYes, if you imagine plucking 2 notes in harmony, plucked very lightly and extremely cleanly, so as they ring out unobstructed…… they just hang in the air. Maybe add a touch of SLOW vibrato and it’s gorgeous and full sounding. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, imagine smashing out a bar chord….. all 6 notes collide and compress, and the beauty is just absent.

    I honestly don't think you are any less talented, just lacking a couple of key structural insights to how it all fits together as I think I have said before. Tobias and Casper have a theoretical edge on ya, but that's all. Dim7 transformations and chromatic movement through a key (1, 5 of 2, 2, 5 of 3, 3, 5 of 4 and so forth) opens up the whole world of being able to navigate through any given progression in seemingly miraculous ways to the uninitiated.

    • @paulstaffordcook8799
      @paulstaffordcook8799  Місяць тому

      Thanks Mooseymoose. The way you explain it here actually perked my interest. Now I’m not gonna run off and study theory, but I do like the way you’re putting it across about structural insights that the likes of Casper and Tobias might have. As always, cheers for being a regular here on my wee guitar channel 🍻

    • @mooseymoose
      @mooseymoose Місяць тому

      @@paulstaffordcook8799 I think it’s not so much studying theory exactly, though it requires a basic level of understanding. Major scale construction, diatonic chords in key etc. but those more advanced key insights are simple but not obvious to most players. I would estimate about a weeks worth of work on a couple of ideas would yield major results.

    Please please just go buy yourself a Hum Debugger pedal by Electro-Harmonix. It absolutely will 100% get rid of the P90 hum. It saved me from turning away from my P90 and single coil guitars and brought the joy back. It does not negativity affect the tone in any way.
