nonsense !in the early to mid seventies you couldn't turn on a country station without hearing one of his songs or turn the tv on a variety show and see him..he was honored by 3 presidents ...performed at gw bush's inauguration ..i dont see him as having been underrated in his heyday !
I’ve loved all the music Johnny Rodriguez has ever put out. While very simplistic in his wordage of the songs he wrote. There was so much meaning in every way imaginable! Thank you for being the great artist you were for country music.
This song playing on an a.m. radio in a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner driving down a country road introduced me to the great Johnny Rodriguez way back in 1973. Fifty years later I am still listening to his music and still loving it. Long live Johnny's beautiful music.
I went to school with this gorgeous hunk in Sabinal, TX, in 1969, I've seen him in concert three times, and give me the opportunity and I'll go see him again. Talk about the crush I had on him! If he ever looked my way, I would blush. Oh, that doggone shyness I had at age 15. If I had it to do again, I'd push that shyness aside and go after this darling man!
God this is great to listen to .i grew listening to this with my mom .todays country isn’t country not really sure they have a name for it .but it sure isn’t country
Maybe he was put to the side by one thing and one thing only because he was a great singer maybe better then some American or Texan or any country performer just because he was Mexican.

One of the best voices in country music history. Terribly underrated.
I agree 100 %.

@@davediamond7228yes I agree. Click on any older country song and at least one person will say they were underrated.
@@davediamond7228well as I say all the old greats are underrated ask someone under the age of 30 who a lot of the greats are they can’t tell you
From my home county Uvalde in Texas
Country Music Hall of Fame...... Don't shun this superb artist! So many hits through 40 decades!!!
Damn shame he doesn't even get in the rotation of current Country Music radio stations. He has such a great voice.
They would have to actually play country, on country stations these days to even consider having him on there.
I was a little kid but I remember the 70s being awesome.
They were. Seriously. I miss them.
My Dad Loved this song I enjoyed the smile on his face when it came on the radio. God Bless Dad
So talented and brought so many good songs yet CMA ignors him...
Love you, Johnny!

Saw him at the Western Swing in Houston Tx in 1980.
The Wishing Well club in Pearsall Tx in 1982.
This is the sweetest love song and of course Johnny's beautiful voice❤
He should be in the top ten
Also Marty Robbins
Riding my thumb to Texas 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Awesome singer! So many great great songs!❤❤❤❤
A great real classic country music 🎶🎵 singer great songs.
Some of my best years and memories are from singing his songs in the 70s❤
He had an amazing voice. It makes one wonder why he didn't have more success?
He spent 15 years signed to Nashvile Majors. He had 15 straight top 10 hits, from the age of 21. He did pretty well for himself.
She's got you I got Mexico
Sorry Lefty & Merle but Johnny owns this song.
My thumb misses you😢😢😢
I seen him in concert in 1988 at the funny farm Bakersfield California
That was a great year because brenda brass was born on March 29th an angel was born thank God for you 🙏 🙌 ❤️ 😊
Riding to whereever I need to to find peace❤❤❤😢😢😢😢
great song
Handsome ❤❤
There's another version with Tom Hall singing on it, that got plucked off the UA-cam s. Was kind of a devastating loss for me.
❤adorable....
Oh I love it!
😂😂🎉😢😮😮 great singer 👨🎤 🎤 🎶 🎼 👏
❤️
Put the musicians back there in the dark

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤>R
Sedona ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Thinking Clint Black liked this tune quite a bit. "Better Man" is just a straight rip of it.
What showcase is this? Is there footage of Tom T Hall performing as well?
From 70s -80s show That good ole Nashville music, taped at Opryland. I have no Tom T Hall footage.
Those pickers really fucked up the song
