Cleaning your Humidifier CORRECTLY

Cleaning your humidifier is a hassle but is is also very important. You should be cleaning the device vigorously at least once a week. Otherwise you may observe a buildup of this pink slime like you can see in this video.
You really want to clean the humidifier often. This is how it is don:
1. Empty the tank and the basin of the humidifier
2. Rinse the tank 2-3 times with fresh water
3. Wipe off any buildup of the pink slime as good as possible
4. Fill the tank half full with water
5. Add 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar
6. Close the tank and shake it vigorously
7. Fill base with water and 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar
8. Let tank and base sit for at least 30 minutes
9. Empty and rinse tank and base with fresh water
10. Wipe off any leftover contamination
11. Refill the tank and restart the humidifier

Very nice video, I know people who are discouraged to buy a humidifier because of the weekly cleaning but this is so easy takes less than 5 minutes of your time!!

I have the very same Humidifier and being on a well system I get a fine sediment inside my container. In cleaning the base I found a good stiff paint brush works better that a sponge will. Disinfecting the container is easy, but getting the fine stuff in the bottom of the container is a challenge! Fingers and brushed won't clean the bottom of the container, but I found something that works great. Put a quart of water in the container, then a cup of uncooked rice in with it. Shake it vigorously for a few minutes then pour the rice and water out of it. It works kind of like sandblasting and gets the bottom and inside sparkling clean! It doesn't hurt anything inside and removes things that regular chemicals wont. Be sure to rinse the rice out before refilling the container for use.

I like this, other people say 1 cup of vinegar, which seems like a lot. I have three of them, so it seems like I was also running out of vinegar

I follow your video exactly every time. Unfortunately the tank of my humidifier is growing pink slime that I can’t reach to wipe out because the opening is too small. I’m thinking at this point I just need to toss the thing and buy a different model entirely so I can reach inside. Any advice before I throw the thing out?

I just learned that putting hydrogen peroxide in the water keeps it clean and keeps you healthy!!!!!!!!

If u put 3 4 drops of attar in it. Whole room will be aromatic
