If you use distilled water it will reduce the amount of buildup on the element. Fill it with the vinegar but scrub some of the loose stuff off first so the vinegar really can get in there & work it's magic! Also don't be surprised if you have to let the vinegar sit for alot longer than ½hr if there's alot of buildup.
The amount of time and money you spend on just soaking with vinegar makes spending money constantly on bottled water ridiculous. 30 min to an hour of sitting on your butt while it soaks is nearly no work and almost free. It's like spend $10 on bottled water vs 50 cents of vinegar.
Very helpful! I got the og model of this from a yard sale and the previous owner must have never cleaned the heating element so it was just full of build up! Your video both showed me how to clean it and what it was supposed to look like! Thanks so much!
This is the most fun I've ever had watching a cleaning tutorial 😂 the humidifier in my house is somewhat sketchy so hopefully this can make me feel better about using it!
I also learned a trick if you take two teaspoons of lemon juice and add it to your humidifier tank it will deodorize the water and it will give your house a nice fresh lemon scent
Thank you so much very helpful. I was about to clean my humidifier after 2 weeks using and it grossed me out from all the minerals and water deposits inside. Tho I didn't use distilled water. Is it better to use filtered water or distilled?
Is it a bad think if I used a wire brush to scuff most of the buildup on the warmer? It’s got some shiny spots now. That won’t electrify the water will it?
Once a month I put my humidifier in my garage and I plug it in ...I add two cups of water and two and a half cups of vinegar and I run it for 1 hours.... And then I just take it apart and rinse it and it has saved me a lot of time on scrubbing.... Every time I run my humidifier I put a couple of drops of lemon juice in my humidifier tank.... It deodorizes the water and gives your house a nice fresh lemon scent
You crack me up!!! So fun! So cute! You actually get me excited to clean my humidifier!! Quick question... could you recommend a larger humidifier to moisten a larger area? My bedroom is huge and I think my Vicks is a smidge small. Thanks!!!
Good to hear from you, glad you are enjoying the videos!! No ma'am I don't have any specific humidifier recommendations. If I was in your situation I would just shop on Amazon like everyone else looking at the ratings.
I got the same model but ion have just regular distilled vinegar I have apple cider vinegar at hand will that work if not is there another way to clean it
My humidifier has a much smaller hole and i cant get the film off the inside...particularly on one side of it. I have a crane cone shaped one. Any tips?
Bought the same model about a year ago. Using it for humidifying my houseplants, now the thing is leaking water. Took it apart the other night and cleaned everywhere, alot of gunk came off the heating element area, and it's still leaking? Not sure what more I need to clean or fix
Not only are you using the exact same humidifier I have, the tutorial is great. Letting mine soak overnight, it was pretty calcified. How often should this be done?
Those are great tips BUT (just an FYI) that is a vaporizer, not a humidifier, hence the heating element. Regardless, I still found this helpful for cleaning my daughter's humidifier, so thank you.
@@CleanWithConfidence A vaporizer has a heating element and creates steam to add moisture to the air, so it can actually cause a room to feel warmer, or even muggy in certain climates (like where I live in GA). A humidifier puts cool mist into the air by way of a small high-speed fan that wicks up water particles.
@@CleanWithConfidence this helped my Christian friend tommy story so he and hos special nephew bobby story can learn to clean it out and tommy said he likes how you act with the video camera and i added yeah hes like our friend david drewry duncan with the video camera
You didn't use bleach to clean the base and tank? I had a Sunbeam warm mist humidifier and used bleach for the tank only once every month or two and didn't have any trouble with mold growth. I think mold growth is just a problem for cool mist humidifiers.
I normally use vinegar but mine looked very bad when i took it out for the season. I cleaned with dawn and vinegar. Now I’m letting a small water and bleach solution run through it, on slow, outside for a couple hours.
I don't know where you live but vinegar doesn't stand a chance against our hard water. It did absolutely nothing against the calcium and lime build up. Muriatic acid did the trick tho, in 1 second. And rinsed out several times with baking soda. If you do this, do it outside with respirator and rubber gloves.
The humidifier enthusiasm is really getting me pumped
Ha! Awesome!
Your having a slow day? 😂
The timing could not be more perfect. I was just looking for an easy way to clean my humidifier. Thanks, great job! :)
Happy to help!
Yeah, Covid.

Totally agree!!!
I find a stiff bristled brush helps to get the built up stuff off of the element after a soak. sometimes I do a second treatment.
I have the same humidifier. This was very helpful! Ty 😁

I’m glad I only have a two part one, I just need to clean the filter separate from the other two
What make & model is your humidifier? I love that the tank has a big opening where I'd be able to reach my hand in. Mine sux & looking to replace
Thank you for the informative video! Should you disinfect with bleach every week?
How often would you suggest cleaning it?

You have fantastic energy my man! Question, I don't have vinegar handy, but I do have rubbing alcohol. Can I use that?
The rubbing alcohol wont work. You need an acid.
Very interesting…it helped a lot…good instructions..

I would clean every week....I just cleaned mine after about 4 months... wow the scale...I had like inches of built up stuff in my dome element
Clean and let dry out every day.
It worked thanks for the tips keep it up
Happy to help
Great timing about to do mine as well. 😀😅
Can you use not distilled white vinegar?
I got the same model but ion have just regular distilled vinegar I have apple cider vinegar at hand will that work if not is there another way to clean it
I wouldn't recommend apple cider vinegar because that stuff is very expensive. I would just get a jug of regular vinegar from Wal-Mart for cheap.
Does this work with warm and cool humidifiers?
Yes
Great video, very informative!
Thanks! Happy to help
Thank you for doing this video

Which humidifier have you got I’m trying to look for one to get but I’m not sure what to pick
great enthusiasum. and nice shout out to Dawn dishsoap.
Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
how often should i clean?
Question if you use a humidifier daily, how often she it be cleaned ? Once a month? Once a season?
Thats a variable because it depends on how hard the water is where you live. If you see that heating element crusting up its time to clean it.
@@CleanWithConfidence understood! Lol I was gonna be extra anyways and use essentia water but thanks
Very helpful thank you

Glad you found the video valuable!! You just do it when needed👍
If you only use distilled water in it there should be waaaaaay less calcification.
Good video! I like to clean my bathroom with Bar Keepers Friend.
Yes I have used that quite a bit on glass shower doors!

Yes👍🙂
This helped a lot man thanks 💯👌🏾

My hole is not big enough. What do I do? Mold inside the tank.
Thank you so much bro, good video. Blessings! 🔥

The vinegar did it’s job after 45 min thank you. But the other item specifically the one that goes on the bottom and the tank was filthy.
Amazing videos like always. Keep going :)
Thank you!
Thank you!

One thing you forgot to mention/show, how did you remove the scum from the heating element? Otherwise good tutorial.

why vinegar and not bleach?

Thanks for technical info...sort of common sense....but they both humidify the air thus increasing humidity.
Mine is only 3 weeks old. Not sure I would need to do this.
You do

Even if instruction manual just says to clean with water?

No ma’am. Bleach is nothing more than a disinfectant. It’s not a cleaner.
I have the same humidifier and cant get that heating clean up its like a stone already

Yes if vinegar isn't working you may need to go with an even stronger acid!
Mine is pretty bad, leaving it soak in CLR overnight -
