Gloves or no gloves, never apologize for having a working mans hands. It's hard to hear you still in so much pain, hopefully it's getting better and easier. Nice to see you again, get better soon George. Keep the videos coming! 73!!
for those that care, Noctua actually makes an all black fan, instead of the kinda ugly Noctua brown. search the part number he provided and add chromax to it.
I have had to check mine to make sure it was still running ! Icom should make that standard ! Getting beat up just doing simple projects ! I bet there will be no head level sharp edges in the new shop !
Hi George, glad your getting better slowly but surely, Coincidently, re the fan? I did exactly the same mod on my Diamond GSV 3000, I had to put one of the resistors in line to bring the speed down and have found the fan moves the same air at half the noise level of the original. keeps the GSV cool at all times and a nice fan, I spotted that someone had posted on QRZ how good these were and he was right. Cheap at the price and I can heartily recommend it, eBay has em!! BTW, I just got the Superstar 7000DX back after a year!! Still up the creek with lousy audio so it will be heading your way when your in better shape. Cheers bud, take care and all the very best.
Good video George the 7300 g8 radio , i have a powerzing m60l 60amp psu in the shack and when that fan comes on you think its going too take off , wodering if this fan youve installed would be any good for this model of power supply i have !
Great modification George. I’ve been after one of these for a good while now but can’t make up my mind should I buy one or the new Yaesu ftdx-10. There’s not a lot between them now price wise especially with the Yaesu cash back offer.
FTDX10 is a better receiver in every single regard Alan. And I do mean in every way. Roofing filters. Just with that you're talking performance from $3000 plus radios. Then the contour and notch and noise reduction is truly in another class. Makes no sense to buy a 7300 if you can afford an FTDX10. Makes weak signal work alot easier with it's tools.
Gone to the dark side,,, BRILLIANT ,,George been using all the digi modes for years
Hope you are well mate!
OUCH! Hurts just to look at that. Hope it healed up quick for you George. Great mod. Thanks for the post.

nicely done. I do not have any fand noise and no over heating. I have about 4 bars of heat. No where close to Red. i do like the clock battery idea.
cheers!!!

It is one of those things you don't pay much attention to, until you notice it, then it starts to bug you. Then it annoys the hell out of you.
Never noticed till I started at the ft8 Bob. As I always have the cans on otherwise
Still a nice radio. Plenty use them on 11m over here :-)
Love that radio Fred
Hi George... I liked that shelf screwed to the top of your rig. Is that home fabricated or a commercially available accessory?
Julius K4nal
Hi Julius. I made it from some scrap sheet metal. Just stuff lying around in the shed
did you make the platform over the top of the 7300 yourself or bought it to fit it..?
I made it.
what changes did you make? I see for the usb port of the icom 7300 two cables???
That's where I passed out the cables for the external backup battery pack.
I'd be curious to see what could be done with the 7300 in regards to AM performance
I don't use AM so I'm not of any use there,

All you need to know it the size of the fan. They do all the sizes there is as far as I know.
@@GeorgeEI7KO Cheers ill look up that manufacturer
