Hello, good video, well explained ,i have had my Icom ic 7300 for over 14 months and also bring it mobile, never thought the fan was to loud, maybe some models are louder than others,i have the 6 and 4 meter bands if that helps, thanks from Rotterdam
Thank you Ben. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know that all IC-7300 have the noisy fan but mine sure was loud. I did a couple other fan mods for guys and they said it was a huge improvement. Thanks again for watching. I have two more videos going up later this week. Please check them out. I really appreciate the feedback. 73 Dave, NI9M
Just a follow up, got the parts (NF-A8) and only 3 wires, wired up as per video and did not work, what did work was red to red and black to black, yellow wire not used, maybe they have changed the wiring so you need to check yours out when you get it (I am in the UK)
Do you think if I leave the original socket in the rig but cut the red and black wires and connect them to the yellow and black as shown in this video, this will work??
@@Andy-hk4wn in the one i got the yellow wire was not used only the black and red, just check the voltage and polarity. I know some have reported different colours on the fans.
Hello Dave, could be my eyes but when I compare the video - the part where you show the 2 pigtails side by side, ridge up - with the pigtails in the URL you provided I see that black and red are reversed. Correct? 73, good DX Gust ON6KE
My apologies Dave, I had it on there but I must have done something to remove it. Here you go: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NWD5NTN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Ok but we do not hear that "noise' and do not hear that new "quite" fan. Also, we do not saw the new fan current. It is very important. If the same size fan is much quieter how it could cool better? So, maybe new video could explain all. Thanks.
Noctua is the Queen of high efficient super silent cooling fans. I replaced the original Fan right away after DHL dropped off the Box at my door.
CQ, Well done Dave! Easy to follow. Thank you for taking the time to post it up! Looking forward to more. 73's
Thank you, Rick. I am slow but more are coming.
Thanks, i followed your instructions and changed my fan. What an improvement!
Yes, it makes for a nicer radio. Glad it helped and Thank You!
Thanks, have ordered the parts
Great instructions for a very useful mod!!! Robert K5TPC
I bought the fan in black, noctua nf-a8 pwm chromax black

Mine is also not loud and does not come on often.
@Dave Belville Hi,I will have a look, 73 from PA1LEG,

Thanks. Same here, tried with yellow but no results, then i tried red and black and it worked great. Yellow does nothing on NF A8 model for this radio
Dave, what gauge wire did you use? I to want too save the original fan "in case of a return" thank you
Hi Rick, According to the specs on the pigtail I used, they are 22 AWG with silicone insulation.
Thank you!
Do you have a link for the pigtail?
This is what I used. High quality and you get five. Thank you.

@@placeholder152 I don't think I am the Dave you meant, but no, the black and red are not reversed. In the video black to black and yellow to red.
HA, it was Dave Belville I was looking for ! Never mind, problem solved, thank you Dave (Nelson) :-)
@@placeholder152 Yes they ARE reversed.
So - where’s the promised parts links?

It doesn't cool better or shift more air, but the Noctua fans are quieter because they use aerodynamic blades and extremely quiet motors & bearings.
