2005 LR3 with 208,000 miles here. Replaced suspension, brakes and a ride height sensor. Truck runs like a dream. Added Xlifter and its a freak of nature off road.

2006 LR3 with 205k miles; owned her since 08. Preventative maintenance is key with these trucks. My list of repairs is a mile long, but I love her. The 4.4L jaguar engine is bulletproof. However everything surrounding it is a plastic nightmare. I've slowly overtime replaced coolant hose T valves with brass fittings. I always carry tools and replacement parts when overlanding. Underrated aspect of the LR3 is the cargo area folds flat! Perfect for sleeping, no need for rooftop tent. Put that money toward Lucky 8 upgrades ;)

@@ryanhood721 agreed 100% - slept in there multiple times, otherwise I leave it flat for the dogs - I can’t even remember the last time I had the rear seats up. Beast tow vehicle as well. Like you said, the key is the know the vehicle and fix things before they become a huge issue - I’ve replaced two alternators and one starter but NONE left be stranded because I knew the subtle symptoms before they failed, even if they only gave you a few hours.
I do love the 4.4L AJV8 though, absolutely wonderful engine.

I loved my LR3. I clocked over 250k miles on it before it got totaled. I plan to keep my LR4 for over 250K as well.
If you would like, I can fly up there and drive this one home for my son.

One for sale up here with 367,000km, looks good still. 2006-2009 is the 4.4 and 4.2 engines, likley the best engines ever made for the Landrover. To bad they screwed up the 5L, otherwise it could have ben a longer stretch of years. These trucks do not like weak batteries and complain a lot when you have a bad battery.

    • @Lucky8

It was definitely not happy without a battery

06 with 210k miles, towed 7,400lbs through mountains in 100 degree heat multiple times as well. Horse trailers, travel trailers, landscape trailers, etc.
Replaced suspension, air compressor(s), about to replace my second HVAC blower motor, 2 alternators, a starter, water pump, tstat housing, etc - BUT that’s all to be expected, and none of it really surprised me. Love this thing.
About to get a D5, 4th rover in a row.

@@Lucky8 the deprecation is incredible - it’s a revolving door though, that’s exactly why I got the LR3 12yr ago, and why I bought the DII before that. A ton of bang for the buck.

I traded my 06 LR3 140k miles that I had for 10 years for a 2018 Disco 5 as a safer more reliable family car 3 years ago. It went for ~$4k which was tough after many great years with it. Little did I know I could have just left it for 4 years and it might have even improved in condition 😂 It's probably worth more now with all these awesome videos people are putting out about the LR3

Are you happy with the D5? Just found a mint HSE in the awesome metallic orange launch color w/ tow package and roof rack for an insane price. Not sure I can resist. 210k on my LR3 is pushing it for a daily driver / commuter.

Loving it! The steering is tight, it handles well, and accelerates quickly. The seats are very comfortable. You can relax on the way home with massage/air seats and a crisp sound system after a long day in the office, or load up a family of 5 and go on an adventure pretty much anywhere in comfort! I got a extended warranty for 5 years and 115k miles just in case... All the components are expensive

The most reliable Land Rover ever in the US. The rest of the world has a lot more reliable diesel Land Rovers, like the Series, Defenders, Disco 1 and 2 and the old Classic Range Rovers with the diesel engines.
I do own a Discovery 3 with the 4.4 V8 made for the European market though, lovely vehicle!

I don't remember if I said NAS vehicles or not, but that was my intention at the beginning of the video.
I'm thinking the series with the 2 1/4 is as close as you can get to liability with the discovery 3 for NAS

The only thing I hated about my 2005 LR3 was the ignition. Has anyone fitted a keyless start on one of these? I currently have a D5 but would definitely pick up one of these if a push button start was capable. I know the D4 has push button but the LR3s and the 4.4 engine were more rugged and reliable in my opinion than the 5.0.

I own 2 land rovers 07 lr3 hse & 04 D2 the lr3 has a suspension fault that just won't go away c1A20-64 means slow to raise air suspension work perfectly until i upgraded the suspension with all new components control arms air suspension, valve blocks air compressor its been a nightmare but i won't swap out for coils i like the air suspension my 04 D2 i also love it because of soiled front & rear axles no air suspension easy to lift 4.6 runs great but when it fails i plan a 5.3 ls swap i often wonder why nobody ever done a 4.4 lr3 engine swap you think it be easier sense engine coming from a land rover, both rovers i paid 1100. For lr3 600. For D2 both still fun to drive without have today's average car note of 850 and up money saved buys upgrades and tons of fun 😁

You may wanna check your air reservoir for leaks that would explain the slow rising vehicle of all the components have been changed.
And I don't think it would be easier to put the 4.4 in the D2 that's crazy
