This was really helpful. I set aside a piece 6/4 of hard maple months ago (and I have several cutoffs of black walnut) with the thought of making a music stool for playing guitar. Your stool is the perfect design - with legs a bit longer. Your video was a great find. Thanks.
THAT'S why we watch UA-cam woodworking videos Jason, to watch a fellow woodworker take us on an honest and humble journey of crafting, sharing his knowledge, without all the fancy pants stuff that plagues YT these days. Thank you mate, what a lovely build too! I learned a couple more tricks too, like the blue tape trick marking out those butterflies.
My first videos are garbage. You keep the work in shot and really clear up the details. A true how to. Great job. I’m going to have to step up my game.
Very nice project. Now I want to make me a stool to 😆 I like your editing as well. Clear explanations and details, no annoying music. Keep up the good work!

Superb , some great ideas shared - your technique for cutting tenons and the jig for leveling legs. For a beginning woodworker these are very useful. Thank you all the way from Chiang Mai , Thailand.
Brilliant detailed video jase , really shows all the work craftman have to do , amd why its fair to charge a strong price , lovely finish also, top man top marks 🙏👍
Your third video?!?! You just TRYING to make me feel bad? Dude, it was fantastic. Stools are one of my favorite projects of all time. Quick and so satisfying. Keep up the great content! Cheers!
Great build --great video --Thanks, hope for more. JMHO if you slightly chamfer the bottom of the legs it will help with splintering, just a thought. Once again GREAT BUILD.
Great video. You've done a great job of narrating the process you used to create a beautiful stool. Please stick with the youtube channel. I am sure it will take quite a while to gain traction, but you certainly have what it takes to get there.
Nice project. I would be interested in the overall sizes of the stool. Liked the jig to get the 12'' length of legs accurate. Is this why you called it a footstool! !Cheers. Jim
Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. The stool seat measures 465mm x 270mm and stands 300mm high. Yes the jig is very handy. My stool is a 'fireside' stool, saves my knees in the winter when putting logs in the burner 👍
What I like most about your project is the hybrid method of power tools and hand tools. Seems very pragmatic, using which ever one is best suited for the particular task.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, power tools can be great for speeding up the work process when possible. I always use my hand tools for best and finish work. Thanks for watching 👍
Based on the editing and quality of your video, I would have never guessed that you are new to UA-cam! Kudos my dude, kudos! Also, I love the design you made and you have inspired me to do some of my own.

Jumping into the van, driving over there with the four legs. I think you forgot something. Stopping to buy your dad a couple of beers.
Ha ha, yes! That would have warranted a couple of beers 🍻👍🏼
nice work! I like the way you solved the leg-leveling problem and the way you used the 25 mm bit to mark the end of the leg and make a testing jig.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching 👍🏼 I’m hoping to put my next video out soon.

Good build. Stools like that are classic it looks simple but the splayed legs can get tricky. No wobble either!
Thanks. Splayed legs can be tricky but with some time and patience they will turn out fine. 👍🏼
Nice stool, I’d happily have that in my house 👍

I liked your methods. Curious about the bow ties, are they angled, or straight walled.
Straight walled, but a little chamfer on the edge with the chisel helps to ease them in 👍🏼
I was wondering if someone made a video that shows how to contour for the buttocks. Hate sitting on flat wood.
