Hands-down one of the best songs of the 80's, and maybe ever. I've listened to this song RELIGIOUSLY since it's release, and it still gives me shivers today.
Saw them with me Rock n Roll Mama at small venue at the old expo 86 club Vancouver. Right in front in front of the Stage, Mind Blowingly incredible. This audience were too young n dumb to get it. We got it! Wooh. You're Alive & Kicking.❤❤❤
Totally agree I am 53 years of age and love this song and the original video when it came out, the guitar is the Master and this song. And that is hard to do on a song that has every moment is incredible.
I'm not a member of the Cult , but if I was I would be pissed off by that statement . The only thing those bands have in common is that they're both from England and they came out in the same time period . One band made high quality rock and roll , the other was a shitty pop band . If you're going to think that way you may as well throw in Wam and all the other crappy pop music from the 1980s .
@@Notasheepleandneverwillbe I can see that your repertoire of music is extremely limited and I am sorry you feel that way, cannot say I have heard of a band called Wam the only one I think you are referring to is Wham, which I was never a big fan of.
Depeche Mode has always been popular and well known. I am a hobby DJ for almost 30 years now and the wonderful thing about Depeche Mode is that everbody knows them and almost nobody hates them. Which means I can play a Depeche Mode song for all kinds of different crowds and won't get complaints, everybody is at least cool with them. That's an incredible feat.
The Cult and Ian Astbury are still awesome after all these years! I will never get tired of their music. Keep of the touring, folks still enjoy seeing bands from our youth!
The song truly changed the 80s. It bridged a gap between metal and alternative and even got played at dance clubs. Alternative becoming mainstream does not happen without this song.
IT IS A PRIVELEGE TO BE ENTERTAINED BY ONE OF THE GREAT LEGENDARY ROCK BANDS OF THE 80's, 90's, AND BEYOND❣️ THE CULT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN FABULOUS AND REMAIN SO TO THIS DAY❣️ CFFC❣️
saw them twice !! once when they opened for Billy Idol !! man did they ever rock the place hard that night !!!! but I haven't seen Mr Duffy in a while and I'm a little shocked at his appearance !! seems to be struggling a tad !!(not his playing) - hope he is ok !!
@@YesItsReallyKeith THEY'RE DOING GREAT AND CERTAINLY NOT SLOWING DOWN ANY. JUST BEFORE DOING THIS FESTIVAL, THEY FINISHED A VERY EXTENSIVE AND SUCCESSFUL EUROPEAN TOUR. THEYRE GETTING READY TO CELEBRATE THE 40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DEATH CULT. THEY WILL BE IN LOS ANGELES ON OCTOBER 23 THEN ON NOVEMBER 6 WILL BE STARTING THEIR UK TOUR. JUST RELEASED A NEW ALBUM, "UNDER THE MIDNIGHT SUN",. TOWARD THE END OF LAST YEAR. THEY ARE TRULY AN AMAZING LEGENDARY BAND❣️
They absolutely killed it.Ian and Billy are amazing and that rhythm section is so solid and pounding.I played drums to this in a 90s band for a couple years and nobody ever gets tired of hearing this.
I was at this event. The crowd was made up of mainly teens and 20 somethings with blue and green hair wanting to see green day. Most probably never heard of this band before. I on the other hand had a great time.
@@danzig5871 I was there too! I love them and I was so excited that they ended up taking social distortion's spot when they weren't able to play at the event. I'm a teen and classic rock is my favorite genre. I do agree though the crowd was kind of dead but I did see some hippies dancing to them which made it feel more like an actual festival lol.
I saw them support Simple Minds, Milton Keynes bowl 86 and they were quite rude to the crowd and at the end of their set said ..you all will be back next year when we will headline.. they never did lol
Thanks for posting. One of my fave bands from the 80s. Fortunate to have seen them four times. I was pleasantly surprised to see Berlin is covering She Sells Sanctuary as they tour this summer.
The Cult sound really incredible here...idk if it's the sound system but it's the best live performance of this song i have heard from them, in these later years. ❤️🔥Thank you for posting it.
I still blast Southern Death Cult, Death Cult and The Cult's music at home and in my car to this day. Been listening to these guys since the 80's. Glad to see them still hammering at it! SDC, DC & TC RULE.
Got to see them in a club in Michigan that was so small, there were tables with waitresses. Also saw Satriani, Kings X, and White Zombie play there early in their careers, to crowds of about 200 people. Gawd, those were the days!
wow, to be honest give me the choice between Social D and THE CULT and i'll take THE CULT every time!! I've been listening to them since the LOVE album first came out, and its great to see them still rocking.. Very glad audiences still appreciate these guys and the genius that their music is.. She Shells Sanctuary is one of the best tunes ever!!!
Love this band religiously , Favourite album ELECTRIC , the Shame is not to many people have even heard of the cult here where I live Melbourne Australia
🥁 still jam,n, to this, since it came out till 🥁 last night, many more sessions 🎶to go 🥁 (absalutely awesome tune🎶 ) from a absalutely awesome band.👍😄✌DEFINETLY ONE OF MY TOP TEN TUNE,S EVER!!!!!
oh man i love the Cult! They still have a lot of power today in their concerts when i compare this to the live act that i saw in Germany in 1985 where they played between Talk Talk and The Cure, only the stage is bigger *smile
Ian is a gem. Touring w/him and the Holy Barbarians in 1996 was a life experience. 🤘🤘👊 --Plus: keeping alive Nigel Preston's final drum part, with The Cult (and one of the great "drop back in" fills, of all time!)! -although the drummer doesn't play it, here! 🙄🙄🤦🤷 (well, kind-of: He executes it in the wrong place. "Loose fits" 😛🤷....) ....
First saw them live in 1986. Seen them all since, from the Stones to Kiss to Black Sabbath to AC/DC. That gig is still one of the best I've ever seen. Incredible band. God don't you just love music!
I'm 65. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. The Cult is a great band and they nailed it with this song.
I'm 53 and I agree.
This would have been great to see.......I'm on the opposite side of the state & had no idea they were there 🙁
Ian sounds amazing! I'm 53....love the Cult!
61, and I’d love Fire Woman. Ian sounds great. ☮️🌸
Don't forget Billy Duffy on guitar, without the guitar riffs/guitar there wouldn't be the same cult sound
Hands-down one of the best songs of the 80's, and maybe ever. I've listened to this song RELIGIOUSLY since it's release, and it still gives me shivers today.
100% agree..bought the 12" long version when it came out in 85...still play it regularly...best song ever..🤟
Exactly

Right in front in front of the Stage, Mind Blowingly incredible.

You're Alive & Kicking.❤❤❤
As Mr Astbury would say "This is not a concert, this is a spiritual gathering'.
Totally agree I am 53 years of age and love this song and the original video when it came out, the guitar is the Master and this song. And that is hard to do on a song that has every moment is incredible.
There isn’t a sound system in the world that can play this song loud enough
You ain't neva lied.
Didnt you write that on another video about the same song ?.....But youre right !!!!!!
Could be I don't even know 🤣🤣@@fencer39
You got that right!
Truth❤
It is good to see bands like Depeche Mode and The Cult more popular now and more people appreciating their music.
Not only that, they still sound the same as when I was in my early 20's in the 1990's.

Great band
And billy!!!!!!!
True that one.
Billy's playing is as sharp as...ever. Fantastic.
I'm 79. This song makes me feel goood! I love The Cult.
P E A C E !
The Cult is a great band. I think they made an entire album called 'Peace', then scrapped it and recorded 'Electric'.
I'm 50 and my daughter is 31, we use to cruise around in my Ford escort with her in a car seat listening to that cassete over and over
That’s so great to hear, did it with my kids too and they all love rock 🤘🏽🤘🏽

If it wasn't this, it would be another one, don't be silly.
I can't imagine that too many people were disappointed when The Cult was the replacement act. 🤟✊
Probably not but Social D is a fucking killer band. Prayers to Mike and his health issues. Sucks.
Replaced who?
@@w.d.hilton6383 Social D. Mike Ness has cancer of the tonsils :-(
Look of the crowd would say otherwise
I like SD but if I had the choice I’d go Cult 💯 of the time.
The Cult after all these years still bring it!! Great band!🔥🔥🎸🎸
Looking forward to seeing them in a couple of weeks in Dublin
Wow!!!! The sound when they play live, the band, The Cult does not disappoint!

That white Gretsch! What a fantastic sound he has.

I saw them in April 1986 perform this song in a small club with around 500 people in Syracuse NY, Epic!
I so very much LOVE The Cult! She Sells Sanctuary is one of the best Rock & Roll songs EVER!
Why aren't these people not going crazy and dancing this song is so great and FULL of energy 😢
I was at this event. The crowd was made up of mainly teens and 20 somethings with blue and green hair wanting to see green day. Most probably never heard of this band before. I on the other hand had a great time.

The Cult rocks. Always have. Always will.
I feel so fortunate to have seen them open for Billy idol in 1986. They rocked.

Woo freakin' hoo! Great band, brilliant frontman. Still kicking it after all these years!!
Fire woman. Blasted my mind and sun king and of course sanctuary. TIMELESS
Holy poop! Ian hasn’t lost anything! Voice, showmanship, interaction with the audience…and he always says “thank you”. He’s pretty awesome in my book
They were fun to see live. I'm so glad that I went
Way better than the 100th with a very *******SAD******* Billing of Elton John for a Biker Rally...That was STUPID on HD part. FFS.
One of the greatest bands ever. Still love to drum to this song.
Awesome! I love that guitar, his Gretsch White Falcon signature model. Rock on Billy!!
I used to stand with my walkman listening tô The Cult at tube station entrance while giving away school leaflets..it was London 1991
Unlike so many of the singers from their era who continue to tour, Ian still got them chops! He has not lost one step. BRAVO!
Hottest summer there too, I see. Keep warm. (Great number)

This song never gets old for me. I hope to see them one more time before they stop . They deserved more success than they received .
Still adore this song... I remember back in '86 sitting in my room inspecting all of the symbols on the album artwork of 'Love' while it played.
Hell yes !!..me too...loved 86 👍
