It's actually pretty strange that they're playing it in the original key, ever since the tour after Agents of Fortune was released they've been playing Reaper a whole step higher because it was easier for Buck to sing higher. I wonder why they brought it down for this show

through the 60s and 70s, when I was a kid, I wanted to be a musician. I was in bands, nothing great, they always broke up for one reason or the other, mostly frustration.. but after a while, I started to realize that, it is really hard to be able to put yourself in that mood to want to play well. You can go to your 9 to 5 job and get through the day not feeling well, being in a bad mood, being preoccupied, having off the job life changing things happen to you and your family. but a musician has to feel like playing every night. You have to be in that tropical mood. And that’s not easy to flip that switch. I have been playing guitar since 1964. I’ve been about 10 different bands. I’m gone through dozens of guitars and amplifiers, I got tired of getting home at 4 AM smelling like an ashtray, only to have to go to work at 6 AM sometimes to my regular day job. That gets old.. I have a lot of respect for professional musicians now more than ever. I saw BOC in conceret in London 3 times between 1977 and 1981. The years have flown by and it’s quite a shock to see them in their seventies! This song brings back so many happy memories of a different Britain, a different London, a different ethos and an age of much more liberty.

Just saw them in February at the Hard Rock in Hollywood with Deep Purple. Both bands were awesome. They've been two of my favorites since the early 70's and they still rock!
@@clemclemson9259 I didn't say "under Rated". Others did. You yourself have often been referred to as "under Rated". I remember seeing Bakerloo several times including at South Birmingham Poly, Henry's Blues House and Mother's, Erdington , where you opened for King Crimson , standing in for Thunderclap Newman, who were banned from playing owing to the age of their guitarist and licensing laws. You have always been an impressive guitarist including with Humble Pie.
I saw them in 1976 at Rich Stadium (Buffalo) when The Reaper was hitting the charts. It was an amazing concert. Opening act was Ted Nugent, he had 30 stiches in his leg from a chain saw accident was still crazy, next Was Skynard when Sweet Home Alabama was just hitting the charts, Blue Oyster Cult was the head liner. An amazing lazer show with tons of fireworks. 60,000 people! It was awesome!
Buck like to slip in some pregnant pauses before he goes off. Unreal. $10 6 bands Anaheim stadium, all day and night, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Edgar Winter, Think Metallica was one of the warm up bands, By the time Boston came on I needed a caretaker. Good thing we had auto pilot back then.

These guys have been Rocking it out forever and they are like fine wine they just get better and better with age. I’ve seen them five or six times in my life and never ever have I been disappointed. When they first made this song famous and were on tour that year a bunch of us went to the Aragon to see them and they were touring with the Green Laser in the show and this song went on forever and ever and depending on what chemical influences you were under that night it seemed as though you had gotten drawn into this mesmerizing zone and just got better and louder and better and that’s it you were hooked and I have been ever since and as I’m printing this I’m thinking back and remembering all of those places. Later that same year in the fall at NIU again with the laser show. Saw them a few years later in Chicago again. Madison once. Rockford twice of which once was at a large bar and it was a killer show to be that up close and personal and every show has been great but that one at the Aragon really hooked me. It was a great night. Dam we had some great Rock and Roll years ago. Five or six decades of music that I don’t think will ever be matched again as music and mainly the music industry itself will never be anything close to what it was then. There will still be good music but never the same as it was. We have been lucky to have lived it. 🐢
Just saw them at NYCB theater on Long Island they were amazing!! last time i saw them was 1982 with Foghat !! Timeless Buck still has it!! Long Island Legends!!
Big BOC fan here as well. Donald 'Buck' was always a favorite of mine. Beautiful tone and melodic playing style. Bucks Boogie, Last Days of May and others. Only saw them once live in 1977. Do they still finish with Born to be Wild? Once I heard 'On You Feet or On Your Knees' live album. I started buying BOC albums. Great live band.
I had the pleasure of attending the black and blue concert in KC Mo.. great concert before Halloween 🎃.. guys walking through the crowd in Long dark robes for the b.o.c. occasions!!
Saw them on that tour too at the then brand new Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. They came on first but i thought they blew Sabbath away They had a 50 foot paper mache Godzilla in the wings that popped out during the song!
I am 62 and it seemed like yesterday that I was looking straight up at Darma fronting the band at the Oakland Coliseum. It had to be 1978. Those years just fly by. Such great memories. This song in particular was my favorite for years. More Cowbell!
Still amazing after all the years ... i did get the 75 live Album "On your Feet or on your knees" from my german uncle in Chicago when I was about 15 years old. It changed my musical experience and until now I love them, cheers from Germany
Darma He’s a killer. “Be careful with that axe”. Your musical iconic rock n roll masterpieces , and the way you gave them to us live those magical moments are more precious than gold such amazing mysterious metal. The way you just killed it. I am humbled and grateful to see Buck just killing it. My first show at 17 was 1979 in LA. Long live Blue Oyster Cult 🎼♥️🙏🏻
BOC FOREVER!!!!👍👍👍👊👊👊💪💪💪😎😎😎 In my humble opinion and being a BOC since about 1981, their last three albums do not get enough credit. These albums are simply OUTSTANDING AND REALLY ROCK!!!! Richie also does a TREMEDOUS job!! I give all the credit in the world!!! Hopefully he will continue keeping BOC's music alive for a very, very long time! 👍
It's a sad joke because bands like BOC aren't included yet rappers and pop stars are there. Like everything it is probably political in a nature. By this I don't me the governmental type politics. I do agree that it would mean a lot if these artists got their earned entrance into the HOF.
Remember seeing them in winterland SF and the whole band sat in the front of the stage playing acoustic guitars. Awesome then saw them two day later in Stockton and they were even better. They had a love for Stockton because KJOY played whatever there first hit was and attributed much to them playing the song when no one else would.Hand held laser lights. Gotta love SOFT WHITE UNDERBELLY
I saw them with Pat Benatar when she was at the peak of popularity back in the day. Aug 14th at Iroquois Amphitheatre with Kansas, which is one of my favorite venues. On a Sunday night, it would be a great time to see this man who still plays with heart & soul, good Rock n' Roll!
Less of key musicans. They really need a keyboard player to do many of their songs-true to the album version. If there is a keyboard player, I may not have seen it. I think he did some looping with his guitar.
Every time I hear the name “Blue Oyster Cult”, I always think of that part in the 1982 film “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, when the ticket scalper “Mike Damone(Robert Romanus)” gets a kid coming up to him asking him for tickets to their concert. I loved that time growing up, and that movie.
I hear this and I am young again. Beer, Bikes, Long hair. Good times. I'm ok with everything nut the hair now but this song just takes me back to that place. More power to you guys and thank you!
70 years old and Buck still does not Fear the Reaper.
He was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition, 40 years ago or more, and he is STILL here! Wrote the song about that!

Iconic this track will never grow old and I am 64 👍🏴
Omg sitting in a basement 14 years old drinking sloe gin fizz and totally singing and rocking out. This took me back in the best way, thank you!
wow, sloe gin fizz, forgot about that drink. Well here's a toast to BOC
14 my goodness
edit unless the alcohol was aged for 14 years
Took me back with the sloe gin fizz. Just need a tequila sunrise and I’m done❤❤
Slo gin fizz was the get-laid drink we gave the girls at parties. Ah the 70's, what a time to be a teenager.
This song helps me escape. Born in 1992, went travelling to Australia when i was 21. This was one of my songs ❤️
I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times and never get tired of it, one of the classics
Absolutely brilliant, was then & still is now. This brings back memories 😢
I remember them back in the 80s i was in my late teens some of the best yrs of my life and music they still play and sound awesome 👌
Great band…the melody was hypnotic like the time…..wrangle doesn’t matter the melodic melody does….takes you to another place….
Just saw them in February at the Hard Rock in Hollywood with Deep Purple. Both bands were awesome. They've been two of my favorites since the early 70's and they still rock!
Buck and Bloom in their mid 70's and still bringing it hard!
He hit that first chord and everyone lost their marbles. They knew what was coming..that was fun thanks
You can't beat the good old bands and songs, brilliant, brings back the good old days as there is no good new days.
That opening looper riff and solo are pretty danged impressive too!
Wonderful guitar work. Buck is rarely mentioned as a great player, but this proves that he is superb.
what? what are you talking about ?? is he "under Rated" too? omg the comments...
Like "Last Days of May"
I saw them in 1976 at Rich Stadium (Buffalo) when The Reaper was hitting the charts.
I've always loved this song. Can't believe it came out in 1976. 46 years ago. It seems like yesterday. I'm 60 years old and wonder where the years went.
Im 54 and dont know how I got here, lol. Where did it go?
@@PolPotsPieHole I hear that. I look at these guys and think wow they're old. Then I look in the mirror and realize I'm not a teenager anymore lol.
Don’t trip, I’m 70 & it’s all good. I love my rock music & my animals (1 dog & 1 cat). Keep the faith & everything will turn out fine for you. Good luck to you in your life & stay healthy.
Most memorable solo riff of the time. Glad to see him still kicking it.
Buck is the only original member of the band still playing the band
Buck is a great guitarist,, looking forward to see him play again,, Great upload !!!
smooth as ever...a classic song that is part of my life's soundtrack!
I can't help it when I hear that cowbell I think of the SNL skit.
Just saw them at NYCB theater on Long Island they were amazing!! last time i saw them was 1982 with Foghat !! Timeless Buck still has it!! Long Island Legends!!
Do you remember them as soft white underbelly. Saw them a couple of times on long Island back in the day. Turn 65 this year June 29th
i will never tire of listening to Buck play guitar...
Nor me. He was impressive way back when. Now? Well where do I start? He owns that instrument. Total respect.
Saw them back in 1980 (at MSG)with black sabbath on their “black & blue” tour😎. My ears are still ringing😂
Me too at the International Amphitheater Chicago, IL
I had the pleasure of attending the black and blue concert in KC Mo.. great concert before Halloween 🎃.. guys walking through the crowd in Long dark robes for the b.o.c. occasions!!
And will forever ring! With the best sounds ever.
Saw them on that tour too at the then brand new Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. They came on first but i thought they blew Sabbath away They had a 50 foot paper mache Godzilla in the wings that popped out during the song!
Saw these guys live in 1975 live at in Duluth Minnesota. The opening band......Rush!
I am 62 and it seemed like yesterday that I was looking straight up at Darma fronting the band at the Oakland Coliseum. It had to be 1978. Those years just fly by. Such great memories. This song in particular was my favorite for years. More Cowbell!
This is priceless for us old Blue Oyster Cult fans!!! Buck! Thank you
Still amazing after all the years ... i did get the 75 live Album "On your Feet or on your knees" from my german uncle in Chicago when I was about 15 years old. It changed my musical experience and until now I love them, cheers from Germany
Caught them playing with Spinal Täp at the Isle of Lucy Blues Jazz festival. Buck did a 74 minute guitar two-man-solo with Nigel Tufnel. Rock history.
i still havent found a song as ethereal as this one
Yeah my guys Coldplay and Dave Matthews Band still got work to do, imo. I 💘 them anyway!
In terms of atmosphere. Try Joy Division. Especially the songs Love Will Tear Us Apart, Disorder, Passover and New Dawn Fades
Try Robin Trower or David Gilmour/Pink Floyd
"You Take My Breath Away" by Queen
"High Hopes" by Pink Floyd
Darma He’s a killer. “Be careful with that axe”. Your musical iconic rock n roll masterpieces , and the way you gave them to us live those magical moments are more precious than gold such amazing mysterious metal. The way you just killed it. I am humbled and grateful to see Buck just killing it. My first show at 17 was 1979 in LA.
Long live Blue Oyster Cult 🎼♥️🙏🏻
Why has buck,s guitar not have the guitar head
I've seen These guys about 30 times over the years. Buck still has a cool, smooth, hauntingly beautiful way of playing! Rock on!!
message in a bottle, clear and concise. perfection in a musical message
just glad they're not wearing masks and bowing to the god of political shaming
BOC FOREVER!!!!👍👍👍👊👊👊💪💪💪😎😎😎
In my humble opinion and being a BOC since about 1981, their last three albums do not get enough credit. These albums are simply OUTSTANDING AND REALLY ROCK!!!!
Richie also does a TREMEDOUS job!! I give all the credit in the world!!! Hopefully he will continue keeping BOC's music alive for a very, very long time! 👍
Always been a big fan of BOC, since the mid 70s.I would like to see them get in the Rock and Roll HOF.
.
. The RnR Hall is a JOKE.
.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke.
@@djrock40 it may be a joke, but it means a lot to these bands to get recognition for their body of work.
It's a sad joke because bands like BOC aren't included yet rappers and pop stars are there. Like everything it is probably political in a nature. By this I don't me the governmental type politics. I do agree that it would mean a lot if these artists got their earned entrance into the HOF.
@@djrock40 yeah they wanted to put Dolly Parton in WTF?????
I enjoy the way he express' himself through his introduction. Smoooooooooth transitions!!
This could go on for a week and it would still be too short! A legend of a song.
Still gives me chills down my spine!❤
One of the great bands of the Rock Pantheon. BOC forever! 😎
Been one of my favourite tunes forever, and was played at one of my best freinds funeral........how apt "dont fear the reaper" RIP AL
If you have never seen this group in concert you don't know what you're missing 😊
Seen them all through the 80's and into the 90's and seeing them this weekend up here at a casino in MI again❤ 😊
Saw them, I think, in 1972…they opened for Black Sabbath.
I was in sixth grade…what was my dad thinking, letting me attend that concert??
That takes me back to the 80’s …..simple times ..great music👏🏻👏🏻
This was one of my favorite songs from back in the day.
cool guitar he is using
Masterpiece! Best time of rock and roll 60's and 70's!!!
Buck looks great and sounds even better. Blown away with how good he sounds.
Probably a Steinberger, with graphite neck.
I love how at the very beginning he tells the sound guy to turn that shit up 🔝
Masterpiece!
Love since I was 14….now 60!
Timeless tune. Sounds as fresh today as it did 45 years ago.
Less of key musicans. They really need a keyboard player to do many of their songs-true to the album version. If there is a keyboard player, I may not have seen it. I think he did some looping with his guitar.
KICK IT BROTHERS .
Does anyone know the brand or style name for his guitar "
Hell, yeah! That might be the first reference I ever heard to this band. Great film. Incredible track...
@@jussitikkuri6991 custom Steinberger
@@jussitikkuri6991 He's playing a custom Steinberger headless guitar. Made to look like Swiss Cheese, Dharma calls it the "Cheeseberger"
" NO I DON'T HAVE ANY BLUE OYSTER CULT , I HAD THIRTY FOUR PAIRS LAST TIME WHERE WERE YOU YOU KNOW I WAS THAT CLOSE TO WORKING AT 7-11 "
And whoosh! I’m back to my youth. Just like millions of others, memories are time stamped with this classic for me.
I hear this and I am young again. Beer, Bikes, Long hair. Good times. I'm ok with everything nut the hair now but this song just takes me back to that place. More power to you guys and thank you!
Old guys rock on the guitar now and forever.
