Yeah, that’s exactly right! On the hikes it was usually sunny and warm so we would be wearing tee shirts… But when we reached the lagoon at Fitzroy, for example, the wind was very strong 💨 You’ll love it, just bring layers and you’ll be fine 😊
Great video. Hat’s off. The best part that wins the medal is however NOT the views in different places but … the Penguin sighting, it’s the crown jewel. 😊
You guys seem like really positive people, thank you for the video! It seems like Torres del Paine beat El Chalten in terms of views but the convenience on that Fitz Roy hike also seems attractive. Hopefully I can do both! I would probably skip Moreno Glacier (just to save money) because I used to guide glacier kayaking in alaska so I've had the chance to get close up and personal with glaciers.
Thank you! There are several few points in Torres del Paine that make it incredible, but for us seeing amount Fitzroy from the laguna was one of the most amazing things we’ve ever seen 😁 They are all worth visiting - Patagonia is just so beautiful!
How stunning is Patagonia! I was wondering if you got to see Cerro Torre, which lies directly behind Fitzroy? Had the reputation of being not only the most beautiful mountain, but also the most difficult and dangerous climb in the world. It was very controversial because an Italian mountaineer called Maestri, had taken a portable compressor up with him and destroyed the climb by drilling and inserting hundreds of bolts, making it easy for every one.
Wow what an interesting comment, thanks so much! We didn’t have time to do the hike to Cerro Torre this time but we did catch a glimpse of it on the way to Fitzroy… We will put it on the bucket list for next time though 😄

Amazing video with lots of tips, thank you guys! Going there in March so very excited 🥳 you mentioned about paying flights in cash direct with the airline and only paying 55%. Do you know if that’s the same for all their flights? Or was this a one off deal? Thanks!
Glad to hear it was helpful! The flights worked out 45% cheaper because we withdrew Argentinian Pesos from Western Union and then used that cash to pay for the flights in the Argentinas Aerolineas office in Buenos Aires. It’s not a deal or anything like that, it’s just a matter of getting your money at the “blue dollar” exchange rate and then using that cash to pay for everything. @@SomethingToRemember thanks for replying I keep on viewing your content. I've even followed you on IG you have great photography too. Am planning to start a you tube channel too in future. Do you use the same cameras to shoot all your videos
Hi! Thanks! Such a great video! Do you have to go through PN in order to go in between TDP and el calafate? And for the bus in between, is it one bus or do you need to transfer at the border or did you use a private shuttle? Can. I ask how much it was for the shuttle/bus?
Hi, thank you! 😊 Yes, Torres del Paine is a National Park, not a town. The bus takes you through the borders, and the ticket was about €35 per person 😊
I'm not sure if you said in the video, but how many days have you done this itinerary? We only have 8 to 10 days to spend there, for you what are the non negotiables in Patagonia to hike and explore? Thank you for your videos, they are amazing!
For Argentina, even if it’s free do you have the book the camp sites? Same question for entrance You don’t need to book ahead? For the Chilean side off you use cash for entrance for henpark and elsewhere for cheaper rate too?
There was a campsite in the forest on the Argentinian side, and as far as we know, you don’t have to book anything, but you should double-check. I don’t think you need to pre-book tickets for the national parks, but you do have to book campsites or accommodations in Chile inside the park.
Thank you so very much. What time of year did you visit? Wondering about the weather. Also, is there another video where you talk about Western Union in Argentina? Was thinking of sending myself some money to receive when I get there. Seems that the exchange is really good when I send to a friend there.
Hi! We were there in January and we got reaaaally nice weather (apart from the windy conditions in Ushuaia but I think we were just unlucky there). As for WU, if you’ve been sending money to your friend it should be really simple for you… Just sent it to your name instead & make sure you select Argentina as the receiving country and put in your name exactly as it appears on your passport 😊 Definitely use Western Union… It saved us A LOT of money! Take care 🇦🇷☺️
Thank you so very much. I had this idea, but never heard of anyone doing it. So great to hear that it works well. Will continue on your other great videos.@@SomethingToRemember
Thank you so much for this video! I want to make a trip of three months to multiple places in South America and your videos have been so helpful and inspiring. I find it exciting and am a little scared to be travelling to the other places as a single woman, but your videos have given me a lot of insight and made it tangible what it means to be traveling there. I think I'm gonna take loads of your advice. Thank you for doing this!
Helpful video. It's worth noting now that the 'blue dollar' rate is no longer that advantageous since the December 2023 currency devaluation. The Western Union rate is now only around 10% higher than the MEP (Mastercard and Visa rate), so you only save 10% by paying in cash vs card.
Very informative, thank you! We are currently planning our trip to Argentina and we are so excited 😊 Do you book the accommodation in advance and pay with cash on arrival or what is the best way?
Yes we did that as much as we could in Argentina so that we could pay in cash when we arrived 😊 Booking.com often let’s you pay on arrival, we didn’t use AirB&B as much in Argentina because you can’t pay in cash! Enjoy, we loved it ☺️
Really handy tips, thanks guys, literally just planning my trip the other way around...Santiago, Puerto Natales, El Calafate, Bariloche, Buernos Airies......
Hi! There is no tour guide or tour agent needed to climb to Laguna De Los Tres from El Chalten… Just make your way to the trail head and start hiking! 😊
Can anyone provide tips about visiting western union and taking cash out? What are the payment options to get cash from WU? I’m travelling from Australia.
1. Download Western Union app and set up an account. 2. Send yourself money (use your own name as it appears on your passport) to be collected in cash in Argentina. 3. Use your bank card to pay through the app. 4. Take your passport, a copy of your passport and a screenshot of the number you receive when you complete the transaction on the app to any Western Union in Argentina (opening times and times for foreign exchange transactions vary from location to location). 5. Collect your cash. 6. Come back and subscribe to our channel for helping you save money 😋
Being peak season when you went there, was it too crowded? Would you recommend avoiding peak season or would you say that crowds is not something to worry too much?
Hi! In Patagonia, it is definitely better to make sure you have a good opportunity to get good weather rather than trying to avoid the crowds… So, we’d say go during peak season when the weather is good and try to go to places as early in the morning as possible to get there before the tour buses 😊 Overall, we didn’t think Patagonia was over-crowded. We loved it!
hey guys - can you advise how many hours did it take for your tour of Torres Del Paine? Trying to determine if I could possible catch the last bus out of town at 3:30pm.
Hi. We don’t want to give you false information so the answer is that we don’t know. Our tour was with our hotel owner. The tour you book will be via a tour company and each company may be different. Sorry!
Right but I am thinking of hiring a driver because the day tours are too long and would make me miss the bus out of town. On the other hand, if even a private tour would take too long, then I just have to reconcile with staying over night, so I would like to know how long it would take privately.
Hey guys, we're in Beunos Aires at the moment. Did you get your tickets for the flights to Patagonia from the airport or Aerolineas office in BA? Many thanks for any advice :-)
This is very helpful! Which Western Union did you go to? I'm a little scared about booking a domestic flight to El Calafate on the same day through Aerolineas Argentina using the blue dollar rate because I fear that the flights will all be booked up if I don't book in advance. Was it truly that easy for you to book a flight on the same day to Ushuaia when you went in January (peak season)?
Hi, thanks for your comment 😊 The Argentinas Aerolinas office is actually in the centre of Buenos Aires so we went there to book our flights with cash around 5/6 days before we wanted to go to Ushuaia. There are Western Unions all over Buenos Aires too - we used several, it doesn’t matter which one you go to 😊
@@SomethingToRemember Thank you so much for this video, so so helpful! I'm heading in around a month, and this has been a huge help :) Can you please explain the blue dollar rate? Is it specific to Argentina? Thanks again!
Yes, only for Argentina! It’s a bit hard to understand, but we tried to explain as best as we could in this video from 1:31 ua-cam.com/video/uwGZj8GXewc/v-deo.htmlsi=j3u2ZP3UKhSrxgrV
Hi guys, what bus did you get from Ushuaia to El Calafate, do you know the company? And did you have to change bus? The only buses I can find online seem to have a connecting bus and the times are really awkward.
Amazing video ! One thing Western Union exchange rates are normally AWFULL compared to other ways of sending/ exchanging money …. As far as mi remember I would lose 10% of my money if I used Western Union ….. Also 35 USD for an entrance to an amazing National Park is not hefty compared to the 20 to 30 English pounds I have to pay to enter each tourist attraction here in London for example . The last thing I was going to mention ….. trying to get a flight in the last minute in high season it is Impossible….I suppose you guys went on low season . Cheers !
Yes, not a bed, but it’s pretty comfy. There are actually 2 buses and 5h break between them, but we were hold up because of the ferry and had to go on the next bus straight away
The owner of the hotel we stayed at took us but has since stopped doing it so we can't recommend it. We did see tours on TripAdvisor for around €70 which we are sure would be fine too! Another option is to rent your own vehicle.
There is one in Ushuaia and El Calefate! But they are veeery crowded so it’s better to arrive early or get cash in Buenos Aires. They do accept USD in some places and give you change with blue dollar rate😊
Hi! To be completely honest, we wouldn’t be comfortable recommending you to stay there. The tour was great, but the hotel owner doesn’t do it anymore and we didn’t really like staying there, which is why we didn’t name it in our video 😅 You can find similar day tours to the one we did on Viator, you can find a link for those tours in our description box. With regards to accommodation, we’d recommend booking an Airbnb in PN and getting picked up from there for your tour 😊 Sorry we can’t be more helpful, we hope this clears it up a bit 👍🏻
@@SomethingToRememberThank you so much for your quick reply. How much do you think I should hope to spend? I'm traveling by myself so I have no one to split it with and the link you provided is $85 for the day. I guess that's not terrible but I'd like to do my due diligence.
I didn't get your tip about using Western Union? Did you withdraw in Argentinian Pesos from WU converting your EUR or you simply got a exchange rate and got more EUR in value and used EUR for daily transaction?
@@SomethingToRemember did you find businesses directly accepting USD or EUR but still giving you Blue Dollar rates (i.e. you end up paying less in USD/EUR instead of carrying local currency. I heard rates change so fast that if you possess local currency it may not be the same value the next day? Any advice there?
In general, no… The only place we saw signs saying “we accept dollars” was in tourist hotspots like El Chalten in Patagonia, and even then they would give you your change back in Argentinian Pesos. Their currency is very much Argentinian Pesos, not dollar or euro… We spent about 5 weeks in Argentina, the rates go up and down a little bit but not enough to really notice. Bottom line is that you definitely need to use Argentinian Peso cash and the best way to access it is by using WU 👍🏻
Great Video! But with "Full" Day to Torres del Paine N.P. you didn't visit the towers, you just looked at them from a long distance... you missed the chance to see 90% of the beautys of the park (the towers themselves must represent 10% of the other incredible landscapes... even prettier than the towers themselves) 👍 As an advice, you need to do the O-Trek, 90 miles of incredible adventure!
@climbverseexperience477 thank you for your opinion! We had some issues that’s why we couldn’t do the Base Torres hike, but we still loved Torres del Paine

Hi!
We spent around 2 weeks in Patagonia but we had really good weather so we didn’t have to waste any days 😊 Thanks for your comment, glad to hear it!
Hello, great video 😊 in which hotel did you stay in Torres del Peine ? Going there soon :)
Thanks 😊 just a random airbnb in the town😊
Insanely useful
Thank you, good to know ☺️🙌🏻
For Argentina, even if it’s free do you have the book the camp sites? Same question for entrance You don’t need to book ahead? For the Chilean side off you use cash for entrance for henpark and elsewhere for cheaper rate too?
There was a campsite in the forest on the Argentinian side, and as far as we know, you don’t have to book anything, but you should double-check. I don’t think you need to pre-book tickets for the national parks, but you do have to book campsites or accommodations in Chile inside the park.
Thanks for sharing. It’s on my list. Which month did you go and month less windy?
Thank you for your comment! We went in January, it’s a peak season
How much time did you spend there ?
@@nicolaspronovost3463 around 12 days
Planing to go there February 2025 ... Thanks for the video 📸 😊
Enjoy your trip ☺️
me too! see you there haha
Cheers☺️
Typical irish man with his ham n cheese sandwiches 😂 great video lads I'll be there myself early next year
Cheers😅 enjoy your travels ☺️
Thank you so much for this video! I want to make a trip of three months to multiple places in South America and your videos have been so helpful and inspiring. I find it exciting and am a little scared to be travelling to the other places as a single woman, but your videos have given me a lot of insight and made it tangible what it means to be traveling there. I think I'm gonna take loads of your advice. Thank you for doing this!
Good to know☺️ enjoy your travels 💚☘️
Helpful video. It's worth noting now that the 'blue dollar' rate is no longer that advantageous since the December 2023 currency devaluation. The Western Union rate is now only around 10% higher than the MEP (Mastercard and Visa rate), so you only save 10% by paying in cash vs card.
Thank you 😊
Very informative, thank you!
Enjoy, we loved it ☺️
@@SomethingToRemember brilliant, thank you so much!
Amazing guys 👋
Can you please tell us what time of the year this was?
Thank you! It was in January, during the peak season😊
@@SomethingToRemember Thank you 🙏
We are thinking of planning something for April.
It’s autumn there in April, supposed to be very beautiful! Enjoy your travels!
Really handy tips, thanks guys, literally just planning my trip the other way around...Santiago, Puerto Natales, El Calafate, Bariloche, Buernos Airies......
Great to hear, enjoy❤️
Did you use a tour guide or company to do the hike at El Chalten? Or is the trail easy to manoeuvre on your own?
Hi! There is no tour guide or tour agent needed to climb to Laguna De Los Tres from El Chalten… Just make your way to the trail head and start hiking! 😊
Wonderful thank you so much. Just trying to plan my trip and stops now
Can anyone provide tips about visiting western union and taking cash out?
Hi! In Patagonia, it is definitely better to make sure you have a good opportunity to get good weather rather than trying to avoid the crowds… So, we’d say go during peak season when the weather is good and try to go to places as early in the morning as possible to get there before the tour buses 😊
Overall, we didn’t think Patagonia was over-crowded. We loved it!
@@SomethingToRemember that's a very good point, I didnt see it from that angle. Thank you very much!!
hey guys - can you advise how many hours did it take for your tour of Torres Del Paine? Trying to determine if I could possible catch the last bus out of town at 3:30pm.
Hi. We don’t want to give you false information so the answer is that we don’t know. Our tour was with our hotel owner. The tour you book will be via a tour company and each company may be different. Sorry!
Right but I am thinking of hiring a driver because the day tours are too long and would make me miss the bus out of town. On the other hand, if even a private tour would take too long, then I just have to reconcile with staying over night, so I would like to know how long it would take privately.
Ok, I just checked my camera roll, were in the park from 8am until 4pm 👍🏻
That's so amazing of you. You are the best!

Hey guys, we're in Beunos Aires at the moment. Did you get your tickets for the flights to Patagonia from the airport or Aerolineas office in BA? Many thanks for any advice :-)
Hi. We bought our flights from BA to Ushuaia in the office in BA 😊
@@SomethingToRemember Thank you guys! Keep up the awesome content. My wife and I have used your content a lot for South America :-)
@nakedinthe90s74 good to know! Enjoy your travels ☺️
It’s a bit hard to understand, but we tried to explain as best as we could in this video from 1:31 ua-cam.com/video/uwGZj8GXewc/v-deo.htmlsi=j3u2ZP3UKhSrxgrV
awesome thanks !
Cheers😊
What time of year were you there? I was there in November/December. Just curious what time of year this was?
In January😊
are you saying don't prebook any hotel online and just go there walk around and find one coz it's much cheaper?
No, we are saying don’t pay online, pay in cash! Do prebook it, it’s very busy. But we are not sure about blue dollar rate now
No, we are saying that you should pay in cash , not online. Do prebook, it’s very busy! And check if blue dollar rate is still working
Forget the blue dollar but keep paying by cash better than by card
Hi guys, what bus did you get from Ushuaia to El Calafate, do you know the company? And did you have to change bus? The only buses I can find online seem to have a connecting bus and the times are really awkward.
Hey, yes we did change buses and time wasn’t perfect (like 3am), but it’s the only way to get there by bus😊
Amazing video ! One thing Western Union exchange rates are normally AWFULL compared to other ways of sending/ exchanging money …. As far as mi remember I would lose 10% of my money if I used Western Union ….. Also 35 USD for an entrance to an amazing National Park is not hefty compared to the 20 to 30 English pounds I have to pay to enter each tourist attraction
here in London for example . The last thing I was going to mention ….. trying to get a flight in the last minute in high season it is Impossible….I suppose you guys went on low season . Cheers !
Normally, yes, but it's different in Argentina-you get the blue dollar rate.
We went in January, which IS peak season 😌
It is just seat on the bus, not bed? If only seat, 22 hour bus ride can be tough, not comfortable as you mentioned? Thanks.
Yes, not a bed, but it’s pretty comfy. There are actually 2 buses and 5h break between them, but we were hold up because of the ferry and had to go on the next bus straight away
@@SomethingToRemember Thanks. So if there is no traffic, it is only 17 hours or so on the bus and there is a break of 5 hours to transfer the buses?
Something like that😊 you can try to find a cheap flight to get there, but it was very expensive during the peak season
Excellent video!! What software did you use for the sections of the video where you plotted your route?
It’s an app called TravelBoast:)
Which tour did you do for Torres del Paine?
The owner of the hotel we stayed at took us but has since stopped doing it so we can't recommend it. We did see tours on TripAdvisor for around €70 which we are sure would be fine too!
Another option is to rent your own vehicle.
@@SomethingToRemember thank you! Currently debating if we should do a day tour or hike the mirador base since we only have one day.
Is Ushuaia really worth it? 22 hours by bus looks hard
Yes if you can do the penguin tour 😊 you can also find cheap plane tickets
Very helpful :)
Great😍🙌🏻
Are there western union in patagonia area?
There is one in Ushuaia and El Calefate! But they are veeery crowded so it’s better to arrive early or get cash in Buenos Aires. They do accept USD in some places and give you change with blue dollar rate😊
@@SomethingToRemember Do you ever feel safe leaving it at the hotel?
Yes, no worries! Watch our video about Rio, it will make you feel better😅
ua-cam.com/video/y4vvGAJg7uY/v-deo.html
Excellent video!
Thank you very much☺️
What month is when you’re visited?
January
can you give the hotel name you stayed in Puerto Natales who took you on your TDP tour Please?
Hi! To be completely honest, we wouldn’t be comfortable recommending you to stay there. The tour was great, but the hotel owner doesn’t do it anymore and we didn’t really like staying there, which is why we didn’t name it in our video 😅
You can find similar day tours to the one we did on Viator, you can find a link for those tours in our description box.
With regards to accommodation, we’d recommend booking an Airbnb in PN and getting picked up from there for your tour 😊
Sorry we can’t be more helpful, we hope this clears it up a bit 👍🏻
@@SomethingToRememberThank you so much for your quick reply. How much do you think I should hope to spend? I'm traveling by myself so I have no one to split it with and the link you provided is $85 for the day. I guess that's not terrible but I'd like to do my due diligence.
Yes, it’s $85 for that tour and you’ll also have to pay an extra 35$ to enter the National Park. Chile is not cheap 😅
@@SomethingToRemember oh wow - thanks! and I loved your top 30 in S.A. video - thanks!
Glad you are finding our content useful - Always great to hear ☺️
I didn't get your tip about using Western Union? Did you withdraw in Argentinian Pesos from WU converting your EUR or you simply got a exchange rate and got more EUR in value and used EUR for daily transaction?
Basically, you’ll get more Argentinian Pesos by wiring yourself money via Western Union than you would by just withdrawing cash at an ATM 👍🏻
Their currency is very much Argentinian Pesos, not dollar or euro…
We spent about 5 weeks in Argentina, the rates go up and down a little bit but not enough to really notice. Bottom line is that you definitely need to use Argentinian Peso cash and the best way to access it is by using WU 👍🏻
Hi, could you share how much it cost you for the day trip to Torres del Paine from Puerto Natales?
Around €70 per person😊you can rent a car as well for the same price!
@@climbverseexperience477 Next time! 😅
@climbverseexperience477 thank you for your opinion! We had some issues that’s why we couldn’t do the Base Torres hike, but we still loved Torres del Paine
