Hello and greetings from Chile! In today’s video, we’re going to be taking you on a day trip to Torres del Paine National Park. This is a major trekking destination in Chile and one could easily spend a few weeks on the trails, but since we were a bit short on time, today we’re going to be showing you some of the highlights you can experience on a day trip. During our tour, we saw all sorts of wildlife, visited the cave of a prehistoric animal, and even came face to face with icebergs, so all in all, a very good day and a great option for anyone wanting to day trip from Puerto Natales.
Our first stop of the day was the Mylodon’s Cave, which is a natural monument located about 30 minutes northwest of Puerto Natales. This site is comprised of several caves, the largest of which is 30 meters high and 200 metres deep. This is where the prehistoric mylodon's remains were found.
A bit of trivia: apparently, the mylodon’s state of conservation was so good that at first the remains were believed to be that of a living species. This launched a small wave of early 20th century expeditions in search of a living, breathing mylodon. Well, that search didn’t yield much. The samples were eventually dated back about 10,000 years...they were just in great condition because of the extreme cold and stable conditions the cave had to offer.
From there, we continued on our tour to Torres del Paine National Park, which is located 60 kilometres north of Puerto Natales. As you can imagine, it was a pretty scenic drive; the best surprise was spotting a group of condors circling just above us. This is the largest bird of prey in the world, so we were pretty excited to see several of them so close by!
Once we arrived in Torres del Paine National Park, we visited numerous attractions like the Paine River Waterfall, Laguna Amarga, Lago Nordenskjöld and Lago Pehoé. We also drove past estancias, experienced winds that nearly blew us over, and of course, we were greeted with incredible landscapes at every turn. Just driving through the park’s dirt roads was an adventure in and of itself!
In the afternoon we had lunch at the Río Pingo restaurant which is located inside the national park on the southern tip of Lago Gray. Then, we enjoyed a beautiful walk on the Gray Trail that goes down to a beach where you can see icebergs up close. It was an incredible experience!
We really enjoyed this 1-day excursion to Torres del Paine. If you are in Puerto Natales but are short on time and can't spend a week trekking in the park, this is a great option that allows you to enjoy a few of the highlights!

Maybe the most beautiful place in the Patagonia, period. So hard to get to or I'd go back. The country of Chile has so much going for it, probably one of the best South American destinations- Great food, great scenery, safe and hiking. Thanks for showing a little love for Chile!
Thanks Rob! Couldn't agree more. Would love to do a proper hiking circuit next time.

Chile is my dream county
And I'm thankful to you guys for filmed landscapes , mountains, wildlife and lakes
Usually before I travel to a country, I like to watch vlogs of that country just to get some itinerary and must-try ideas. When it comes to Argentina, you guys are a TRAVEL AUTHORITY. I have watched quite a few of your videos already, and I'm impressed every time by how informative, personable and wall made your videos are. Thank you!
There's no end to the majestic and breathtaking feelings while watching your incredible vlog. Totally loved it
Wow, thank you Banshan!
This is absolutely beautiful out there in Chile, I just love to see mountains there and it's so unique. Great adventure video, you guys and good to see you again for today! 😉
Thank you so much Jade!
hello! Can you tell me which tour company do you use for this day tour? Thanks :)
Hi Guys!!.
Muchas gracias, Plinio! Nosotros siempre muy agradecidos por el apoyo de la familia entera. Gracias por sus comentarios y likes. Les enviamos muchos saludos desde Canadá! 😊
Stunning video and so informative! I am preparing for my W Trek in November of this year, super excited to camp and experience the natural beauty of Patagonia!
You’ve brought Patagonia alive. Sure, I always have known that Patagonia was at the southern tip of South America and that there was a mountainous passage through it but today’s video showed me so much more. Thank you both. I really enjoyed it all. Cheers, Colin
Thank you very much Colin! It is our favorite region of South America!
The whole environment looked breathtaking and the shots were top notch. The best thing about traveling is you don't know what your going to experience and even if you know what you're going to see how its going to be spectacular for you till you get there
Thanks Justin! Couldn't agree with you more!
Your tour of Chile and Argentina Patagonia has been amazing, what scenery and hiking. Will you be putting a book of all of Sam’s photos across years of your global travels? 😍 Love you guys
Thank you very much Clare! We felt so inspired on this trip. Ah, that is a wonderful idea. A photo book :)
So blessed to have been there in 2016… the highlight of our Valparaiso- Buenos Aires cruise.. the most expensive side excursion we’ve ever paid but we were making it sure we’d get back to the ship in time.. first a flight from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales, then a two hour bus ride to the park.. it was such an incredible day!!
Oh man! Just unreal scenery!
So scenic!! Great video as always guys!! Cheers!!
Thanks Peter! It was an incredible place to visit!
Excellent videography and breathtaking scenery👏🏻👍🏻👌🏻
Thank you so much 👍
As usual, i love your videos guys. Can’t wait to visit this beautiful place. Still on my bucketlist.
Sam & Audrey, nice video. I been to the Park. It is amazing, I love that part of the country.
So beautifully vlogged. So beautifully scored. You guys have hit all the marks.. Well done!
Thank you!
Hi Guys,
I absolutely love the gorgeous landscaping views and yes can’t forget the foods.
Thanks Michael! We just loved it!
Hi ! what beautiful images !! what a good job you guys did !! Congratulations !! greetings from Buenos Aires !!
Thank you very much, Adrian! We appreciate the kind words.
Aquí estoy Amigos!, perdón por la demora, listo el Like y a disfrutar nuevamente (Plinio por 3ra vez 😄).
Very beautiful place! Love to visit someday...always good to see your videos 👍👍👍
Thank you very much Lobsang!
it looks so beautiful! and it made me miss the cool crisp Autumn air here. Mmm sweater weather.
The mountains look a lot like Alberta, but cold. They have quite a cold / dark feel to them.
Totally thought the milodon was going to be the size of a sloth ... it's giant!!
Thanks Ashley! It reminds us so much of Alberta and BC. I think it is even a bit more rugged and untapped in Patagonia. Not quite the wildlife opportunities though.
Que belleza de lugar...!!! Excelente la filmación y edición del video...🙋♂️🇦🇷
Muchas gracias Daniel!
Such spectacular ✨️ scenery of the mountains and lake ❤.
Thanks for sharing 👍 greetings from England 🇬🇧 Simon and Beth ❤️ 😀 🙋
Es tan hermoso 💚 😍
That is as good as it gets. A place where your mind would be clear, allowing the beauty to take you away.
Thanks Steve! That's exactly how we felt. Wish we could have lingered a little longer.
Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much Jen!
Such a beautiful place. And so much wildlife too! Have to get there some day! 😀
So much wildlife! We couldn't believe how much we got to see in just one day. All that was missing was a puma sighting, but that's a good reason to come back!
Wow!! What a great video with so much of information. Thanks for sharing !! We will be traveling to Patagonia in February. We will be going to Torres del Paine National Park in late February and will definitely use the information you shared. We would like to know
1. Which tour bus company in Puerto Natales you got the full-day tour of Torres Del Paine from?
2. For the bus from El Calafate to El Chalten, where did you buy the tickets from ( bus station or online)? Did you buy them in advance or on the same day of travel? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to more videos from you.
You probably had a great trip in Feb. Was it very crowded? Did you end up taking bus tours? I am debating about the time I'd go, Nov, Dec, Jan? thx
@@ednasalinas5568 Yes, we had a wonderful time, specially in the Chilean part of Patagonia. We took the full day bus tour of Torres del Paine NP on the first day to get an overview of the area, then focused on day hikes in the park next 2 days. I noticed the bus to the TDP Park and buses to Perito Moreno glacier and to El Chalten were quite full. That was a bit surprising because I thought mid February was the shoulder season. Dec-Jan could be a but hot for taking the FitzRoy or Las Torres hikes. I would suggest November may be better. Have a great Trip!!
Patagonia is so beautiful❤️
Thanks LeAny! We totally agree!
The views are breathtaking!
Thanks! It is a beautiful place to visit!
Stunning. Your videos are the real deal.
Ah, thank! We'll have more soon.
Hi. I love the trekkings you did in El Chalten but this tour is unbelievable 💙
Thank you! This was stunning beyond belief!
🇨🇱 Chilito hermoso
Thanks for another absolutely outstanding view of travelling through your eyes guys. Love, love & love. Especially with what is happening here in the "UK"...I made my first Wee venture out to Loch Lomond and sat on the banks, sinking in the views...Keep up what is happening in the wider world...love it. Oh P.S. not to nit-pick but when you visited the loch..I saw the vid...you got the difficult pronunceation right "LoccccccccH" not "Lock" but then you said "Low-MOHHHHND"....Try "Loccccccccch Low-mund" ....as we sat in Scotland "That's Mair like it".... Keep these coming, Lot's of hugs from Scotia x
Hi ! Are you a native Spanish speaker? You nailed all the name’s pronunciation. Thanks for showing Chile.
"Floating icebergs" makes them sound more amazing! 🤣👍
Ah, thanks! It is a pretty amazing place to visit.
Incredible. My little dog would be a meal for a Condor. You are the best.
Thanks Steven! They're absolutely enormous.
I cant wait to go to Chile!
Exciting to hear!
Scenery was amazing thank you enjoy the Maritimes
Thanks Effie! We're loving being back out east!
I love watching your videos. Learning more and more about the world. Great content!
Thank you very much!
Hermosos paisajes 😍😍😍😍
it was spectacular!
Hola Audrey, Samuel, precioso video, un beso desde Valencia (España).😘😘
How you get to the glacier hike? It is walking distance from the Rio Pingo restaurant. I’m planning to do the day trip in October but we have a rental car
I may have to camp on the Chilean side. Great video!
There are some great places to camp on the Chilean side! You should look up EcoCamp Patagonia in Torres del Paine National Park. We want to plan another trip back just to stay there!
What time of year did you go?
Breathtaking, I am coming!
hey guys! what month did you go in? i was thinking of going in the end of may
This was in December, so it was summertime. May would be autumn, so it'll be quite a bit cooler. Still enjoyable but pack accordingly!
Hi guys your video are always incredible
I'm appreciate your work best of luck
Hope you reach million subscribers
Great vlog. How did you book the day tour? Cheers.
We found a local tour operator in town and booked our tickets in person. We went with TOUR 365 (they have an office right downtown), but there are lots of operators that offer the same tour.
What tour service did you use for this day trip?
Can we take a toddler here? Is the terrain too rough for a kid to walk? We can carry her on back for some distance.
Very insightful video and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Just wondering what the name of the excursion company was, we are planning on a trip late February.
Thank you.
Hi, could you send the name of agency that you bought this trip?
Primer comentario. Saludos!
Muchas gracias Gabo!
What tour company was this day trip? Thanks!
Super trip and super landscapes 😍🚌🗺
Thanks Bajlandia! It was amazing to visit.l
Visited Torres del Paine NP about 15 years ago. You neglected to mention that a unique feature of the massif are the two black "horned" mountains made of black basalt rock.
Thanks Bani! Our bad for that.
Love your videos! I'm watching them for how to edit and put together my own. So far I'm taking baby steps but that's what I saw in your original videos.
That's awesome! We all have to start somewhere. Enjoy the process! 😊
Hi there, thanks for sharing. When did you go?
We visited in December, so this was early summer.
I just came across your channel and love your videos, very insightful! I’m heading to Torres del Paine in March 2024. Which month have you been there. Despite the cold that you mentioned it seems you had nice clear weather.
We were there at the end of December so it was summertime!
Were you able to book a tour that you can recommend? Im flying to Santiago on March as well and would love to go there.
Very beautiful what month did you go pls thank you 🙏
We visited Torres del Paine in December, so it was early summer.
What tour company did you use? I'm looking at Trip Advisor for Tour Buses & they all seem to cost close to $200 per person. I can't find any in the $50 price range you mentioned. Any help would be awesome! Thanks for the video.😃
It's cheaper to book once you're in Puerto Natales through a local tour agency. We went with Tour 365 (this was back in 2019!), but most operators will offer the same or a similar package.
Do you remember the name of the tour company you used.
I like your content, Which camera does the video shooting please ?
I want to go to Chille, but i want to go to torres del paine which seems complicated especially for solo traveler....
hi, whats the name of tour company you joined?
What a lovely video! What month was this taken?
We visited in December so summertime in Chile.
Love it! what is the name of the tour company?
What company did you guys use for the tour?
We booked at Tour 365 in Puerto Natales.
¡¡Great video!! Just remember that condors (Vultur gryphus) are scavengers not a birds of prey.
Fantastico
Gracias!
Hola chicos hermosos videos¡! En que mes viajaron??
Este viaje fue en Diciembre.
I love your sweater so cute
Hi guys 🙏🏻😎🥰
Thanks Esther!
Amazing.
cual fue la agencia de tour, nombres por favoooor
Fuimos con Tour 365 y reservamos en persona una vez que llegamos a Puerto Natales.
Great video! What time of year was this? How was travel during COVID? Any restrictions in Chile/patagonia?
Thanks Jordan! This was late 2019 just before covid.
@@samuelandaudrey thanks for the update! Fingers crossed can recreate your trip in 2022.
Which tour company
Is hike difficult
The hiking is minimal if you visit on a day trip like we did.
Bonjour... Viva Chile mierda... Viva LA Patagonia... Algun Dia estare por ahi. Chuchamimare...
Which tour did you take. Company name
We went with Tour 365. We booked in person when we arrived in Puerto Natales.
Saludos desde Ecuador
Gracias Fernando!
Beautiful
Thank you Paul! We just loved it!
I see sam is wearing a huk shirt. Have you tried fishing in Chile or Argentina? How much was the license?
We did go fly fishing on our last trip to Patagonia. The license varies by province, so google 'permisos de pesca deportiva' + province name, and you'll get a list of rates. If you go fly fishing at an estancia or hire a fishing guide, they'll typically take care of the license for you.
@@samuelandaudrey muchas gracias!
WhT tour company dis you use please
I forget the agency where we bought the tour because this was a while back, but every tour operator in town offers this same itinerary. It's the full-day tour of Torres del Paine with a visit to the mylodon cave.
When u see such great view and awesome shot... and then u realize .. no 4k .... u really feel bad ..
We're still HD for now. I don't think we could've handled this 3-month trip filming every day in 4K - we wouldn't have been able to store all our footage! 😅
Love from Pakistan🇵🇰
Requesting for Tour company name
Sorry Sayak, off the top of my head I can't remember since this was in 2019.
@@samuelandaudrey Thanks for the reply.. Cheers, love all your travel contents... :)
@@samuelandaudrey do you remember the time of the year? weather looks great at that time!
Who did you book your day trip with?
YA LO SUBIERON HACE 1 SEMANA Y AQUÍ PONEN QUE HACE 1 HORA!!
El que subieron hace una semana es en el otro canal, no es el mismo video ya que esta en otro idioma
