I can only advise you to buy a stronger rubber strap with a metal buckle.
I bought a w800H in 1999 and 25 years later have never replaced the battery. Yes the watch continues to function. A big shout out to Casio .
Isn't it was introduced about 2008? Mine was bought in 2011, April, and still going on the same battery. Yes, it stayed for years in the drawer, no light, no alarm, no beep was used. But still, 13 years is a nice duration on a single battery. And I love the snooze function. I bought it before the smart phone era, but after the "dumb phones". Still, if I have to relied on this watch's alarm, I think I could be fine.
This is officially the best watch I've ever purchased. Better than my Rolex! Yes, you've read that right! It's affordable, light weight, durable, 10 year battery life, alarm, snooze every 5 minutes for half hour, bleeps every hour, dual time, stop watch etc.. I love it! I don't think I'll be buying any other watch as this one in particular is the perfect watch for me 👌

I really like the W800H it is very wearable for someone with a small wrist like myself. The only downside being for myself personally is that I found the strap quite large for me so I have replaced it with a black Archer canvas strap which was on sale from Amazon UK for under £10 and it is perfect. It is comfortable to wear and has no overlap which is my main annoyance with Casio watches and I personally think they should be able to provide a shorter version for smaller size wrists or provide an extra keeper which would help. I have a Casio G-Shock 5610 watch and the strap is perfect on my wrist and the keeper stays in place when wearing it.

I have to opposite problem my wrist is 8.5" and 99.9% of the time I have to find an alternate band solution - best ive found for a few Casios including this 800H is a set of nice factory looking metal adapters that convert the smaller lug width to 22mm so any NATO band fits and this watch looks great with a black 22mm NATO band, the factory plastic band looks cheap by comparison and the NATO band will last near forever compared to the factory band.
I'm surprised you haven't thought of trimming the strap to your preferred length. A normal pair of scissors will take care of this in a few seconds. Be sure to curve the end to it is easy to insert in the buckle.
I actually own both of these watches. As far as value for your money, there are better Casio watches than the F91W, including the W800H . For almost the same price you can get a Casio that is more durable or has a longer battery life or has a better display or a better light or better water resistance or more features etc. etc. etc. The best thing about the F91W is that it is the iconic and famous (AND in some cases infamous) Casio F91W that has been in production since 1989. It is a fashion accessory for those of us who like the look and simplicity of old school digital watches. It is also so light and comfortable it becomes a part of your wrist and you forget that you are wearing it. It can take a beating, yet at the same time is so inexpensive that it is disposable. It is rated to be water resistant to 50M but can allegedly withstand much greater depths than that. I prefer my F91W over the W800H because of it's intangible qualities even though the W800H is objectively a better watch in just about every way. When I do want to wear something objectively better, I step up to the G-Shock DW5600 or the DW290 which is nearly a G-Shock in all but name. The W800H is a good watch, but IMO is only a half step upgrade over the F91W.

I have owned the W 800 since 2016. It still works with the original battery without any problems. Only the bracelet is torn, it's not of good quality. But I still have a 5610U.......

I have about 10 watches and this is the only one I wear... It's light, I can swim with it, it's easy to read and with a mod I added 5 extra alarms. This watch is all I need, I might as well sell the other ones lol

The only problem with this watch is that the screen scratches very easily (my new one had a ton of micro scratches after only two days of wearing it), and you can buy three F-91Ws for the same price here in Europe. Looks dope though and the features are great.

Took that into consideration when looking at how the crystal sticks out.
However, since Polywatch is actually an abrasive that smooths resin crystals, I figured that if I just take off my watch and rub it, they become less noticeable over time. You can still see where they were if you look close enough, but it's probably a lot more gentle on it than regularly using Polywatch.

Just bought this watch. Got the grey version for $33, but the classic was still $25. The year was actually a selling point for me. Love it.

Yes, this one is one of my favorites too. You mentioned the fact that the year is in the display too... I like it too. I'm pushing 60 and sometimes it does come in handy. Just needs 3 alarms and count -down timer. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't personally done it, but there are two simple mods you can do that will add those features. This is because it has some features that have been disabled but can easily be reenabled with a soldering iron.
The resin band on my W 218H crumbled after 1 year or so. very disaapointed. I gave this one a shot recntly and im really enjoying it. Love the review

@@halfpastblog it’s funny seeing a pair of Casio’s next to my 1680 Red Sub and 116710 GMT in the watch box. But Nico says Casio’s are God Tier. So I had to get some. Picked up a G Shock too. No regrets at all.
Just picked one of these up. Great Value for what you get. Backlight, 100M water resistant, Dual Time, year, date, etc. What's not to like. A nice everyday, gym, bike, swimming watch for almost nothing.
I have a G-Shock and the classic Tom Cruise DW-290 also in collection and of course the A-168 for dress occasions-Casio metal band EL for cheap. A winner.
Am thinking about picking up the DW-291-successor to the 290. A nice looking piece with the same 200M resistance plus world time for about $30 U.S. That's a bargain!

I’ve had the SGW100 for over a decade now, for free (found it on the street). It’s been my lucky watch in all of life’s ups and downs but now looking for something a little more svelte but with a big display. Will have to check this out.

Would have been nice with a timer. Otherwise it's a really good watch. I wore one for several years, but changed to a DW-5600E-1VER.
For an 8.5 inch wrist, have you considered the AE1500? That is an AMAZING watch, large face, most legible display Casio makes! Only $22 (in USA).
I've used W-800H for 12 years, 2011 to early this year. It was perfect watch.
When I bought it, I saw the copy '10 YEAR BATTERY' and thought "Do I really use this watch over 10 years?" But it became TRUE. As time passed, I was starting to like it more and more.
I bought it for my enlistment, and it worked so well for 21 months, the term of my military service, even in bad conditions. It was all-weather watch.
Early this year, I tried to replace the battery of it, because its display was getting dimmer. But my poor skill ruined the watch😂😂, so I had no choice but to throw it away.
Now, I'm using another CASIO digital watch, W-216H. CASIO offers reliable and durable watches.
This is a great testimony to its resilience and battery life. 💪💪💪💪💪
The year is really more of a placeholder. That area is for showing the time while in other modes, especially dual time mode
I have the negative display/blackout version. It benefits from the mod that uncovers the countdown timer. I also swapped the band for the AE1000 band. This band is more substantial and I think fits the aesthetic of the watch better than the stock band.
Very nice! At this price, swapping and customization is cheap and fun I'm sure.
Is it more difficult to read the time on the watch with the inverted display?
I like the blackout version better because it doesn't have the blue line and the red letters. A blackout version with a positive display would be very interesting.
@@cesar_onada I find the negative display version of W800H (W-800H-1BVCF) to be quite readable, unlike other negative/inverted displays. To me it's perfectly readable in most everyday lighting conditions, similar to the positive version. As you say, all of the other marking on the watch are either absent or muted. Much more ascetically pleasing than the positive version.

I live in a very sunny place (south of Spain), so I was afraid that the negative display would not be easy to read.

*I like having the year and, it's in line with the month and date. I create new computer folders and files daily. It's great to number them by glancing down at the watch with the extention at the end:"file name 202x xx xx". You couldn't have a better watch if you create files all day long.
I got my first digital watch through the Consumers Distributing catalog, also. I actually went to the distribution center and bought it in person back in the 70s. I can't remember what kind of watch it was but it was a steel LCD. I wish I could remember it, I'd love to get my hands on one now.

It would be a much better watch if the crystal was recessed and you could turn OFF the year display (it's distracting and unnecessary). Thank you for pointing out the different sound at the home screen - literally the most useful feature. You could have mentioned that this model can be hacked to enable additional alarms and a timer.

Walmart has a Casio for $16 that looks like in between this watch and the G-Shock but only 30m water resistant. Casio F108WH-2ACF also known as the Casio Digital Illuminator.

I just got one. I wasn't a fan of the band and replaced it with a softer , bit wider silicon strap from amazon.
I'm really impressed and appreciate the 100mnwater resistance.
I found the blacked out version of this for 39$ at Walmart in Surrey,BC.
Real bargain.
I love the W800H! If you don't have to survive being run over by a 10 ton truck (looking at you G-Shock), the W800H does everything you really need an inexpensive, rugged watch to do. Large display, easy button pushes, 100m water resistant, 10 year battery life, acceptable backlight, dual time, easy to slide under a shirt cuff, etc., etc. I bought and returned a DW-5600 G-Shock, which had awesome specs, but was just too painful to use because of the super-stiff pushers. I bought a W800H instead for $16 USD. It's the perfect travel/field watch and can handle anything the wild world will actually dish out. I prefer stainless analog watches for everyday wear, but when I am working outside or doing something that could potentially scratch, dunk, or shock my favorite watches, I put them back in the case and strap on the W800H. When I travel, I always have a W800H squirreled away in a safe corner of my pack or suitcase, as a do-everything backup watch. Oh, one last thing, I occasionally see folks complaining about the long strap. That surprised me, since it took me about 15 seconds to neatly trim it to my preferred length and tongue shape with regular scissors. It works so well I do it with all my silicone-strapped Casio's or Skmei's that come with too long a strap.
Check out the W-202. Almost as compact as the f91w but with a countdown timer, better light and 50m water resist

Well the price is up to about $41 Cdn, but it's not outrageous and I need a digi for the gym. I didn't need a G-shock, and I wanted 100m WR (kayaking), and the dual time (good for ham radio) and because I am closing in on 60, the size of the numbers really matters when I'm not wearing my reading glasses, and the G-shocks are kind of small on the display. I like the look of it.

Small correction - WR on F91W, stands for splash resistant (30m). His older brother, W59, has wr50m, for example. Nevertheless, Casio often underscores their WR, for several of their pieces. F91W can stand showers and swimming, without any issues.

You are not saying that WR stands for Splash Resistant, which would be SR, but that it is 30m water resistant not 50 as I said, and the nomenclature you use for 30 meters is "Splash Resistant." Correct? When I checked the Casio website it listed it as water resistant but did not say how many meters. Amazon and other reletailers listed it at 50 so I went with that. But is could very well be 30. Either way, as you say, it is suitable for light water duty.

Great watch, I lost my one , but still have the black out version, not half as good as it’s hard to read . Really loving my mw 59 at the moment
That's a bummer. At least they are cheap to replace.
I also have an 8.5" wrist but this watches band didnt even come close to fitting me, couldnt even get the buckle close to meeting - I had to use some nice metal adapters I found from jays and kays on ebay along with a black 22mm NATO band, now I love the watch even more as its much more comfortable with the 22mm NATO plus the NATO will never break and lose the watch like the cheap casio bands eventually do.

I liked this one, but found out there was an OD green Casio with a vibration alarm for similar money - $24-$34 US. I jumped on it. The vibration thing is neat. The hourly beep with vibration alarm on makes me feel like I am actually keeping track of time

Those large push buttons are much better than those small F-91. I have 2 different Casios and can compare both. I won't buy again watch with small buttons.
one of the best features is thr ability to hold the change button for 1 sec to always return to the main time screen
but i should mention, the strap is awesome... until it isn't. i've had 2 of them break on me already. the first one lasted about 2 years but the second one only lasted 6 months.
I've just bought this watch for dinghy sailing, and only now see it doesn't have a countdown timer which is essential for dinghy race starts, oh well, I'll use the stop watch in its place.
That's frustrating. So many others out there for $30 if you want.
The F 91 has a history of broken straps after about 2 years. I've had 2 with this problem. I'm left with a perfectly good watchs for which I can't find a replacement strap (band). The F91 band is attached by small screws where the W800H looks like it has traditional spring pins. This might permit an alternative wrist band later if needed for the W800H.
You could get an 18mm nato strap for it. There's videos on UA-cam about it if your interested. Me personally, I think it's superior to the stock strap. Looks much better as well

I have used this watch for almost 12 years and never once replaced the battery. but this watch strap has been replaced almost five times.
I have a W800h on my wrist at this moment :).
i like seeing the time all the way to the year.
I really like the shape of the digits. They are just right. Other watches have these ugly puffy digits I find very distracting. Oh and I also like the symmetry of two buttons on each side.

It's just too big for me. But otherwise absolutely amazing watch. I like my casios with a lug to lug under 40mm and thickness under 10mm.
This is a great one! Not a great looker but nice medium functional watch. Might have to do a Casio royale vs this one as they seem similarly specked

It's not an upgrade on the F-91w in my humble opinion. The F-91w is the best watch in the world.

I've had 2 W800H watches I'm on my second. Both had their bands snap within the first 2 years of owning. No abuse or anything the bands just decided to snap. The reason my first one completely died is because the cheap replacement band I put on it hardened up and actually lost flexibility on my wrist causing the plastic around the lug of the watch to break making it impossible to install a new band. The second one I have has a much nicer band called a bisonstrap which goes on toolless and feels much better than the stock or the old replacement. One little gripe I have is that even though these are water resistant 100m mine still managed to get condensation under the screen in the summer. Both of mine did this but it never destroyed the watch. No one has ever mentioned this happening in any review. All this considering I still like the watch.

These value casios are great, it has great functionality and is a decent size. Personally I would have got him a GShock, it’s a grown ups watch

I would probably add that the Casio F - 201WA is a better value sure it does not have the hundred meter water resistance he but you get five separate programmable alarms and you get a countdown timer. Paired with that you get time date day and month display, along with a chronograph. And to top it all off you do get dual time with a 10 year battery.

Hmmmm... I'd have to give that some thought. Most digital watches tend to throw in all those extras. The modules simply come standard.

Just one thing I do not understand my Casio watches does not make a sound when I press the buttons it does not chime every hour I have the bell icon on no chime beep or buzz sound on my Casio G-Shock my other two Casio they just vibrate every hour no sound I have the Bell icon on them also on them
