You put the watches in different parts of the tread......and had the ropes different. Not a good test.
the f91w might not have the shock protection of the gshocks but they are so thin and light that they just won't get damaged. If you break an f91w on wrist you probably have some more serious injuries to worry about
that's what i call a beautiful quote.
The F91 can certainly hold its head up high there was no shame in it getting beaten by the G 👍👍

Found this review as looking to buy my first F-91W since I was a kid.
I’ve got a G-Shock and an Illuminator but was looking at G-Lide in orange but thought maybe I should look at other options. As it’s a watch that will only get occasional wear a £14 watch will beat a £85 watch, and maybe I should get some other colour options.
The F91W was my watch in the military - the little timepiece never let me down. Now I have a pretty descent watch collection with some well known Swiss and German brands, but still own (and like!) the little black Casio. It's a legend.💙
I’m surprised how tough that little f91w was,considering i don’t plan on running my watches over with a pickup truck i think it’s perfectly adequate and a lot cheaper than the G-shock,the G-shock is tough as nails but the f91w did not die without a fight and at that price there is litteraly nothing on the market that would beat that
Great review! Even more reason to love the G-Shock. I now own 7 since my days in the Marines and they are all I wear for both durability and sentimental reasons as my Mom bought most as for Birthday / Christmas gifts! From solar atomic squares / King G to a couple analogs they all work flawlessly with just couple of OEM strap / battery / water resistant seal replacements. I love knowing I have a capable watch on my wrist that I can wear for any activity without fear of damage. I've also gotten lots of compliments as they stand out in a sea of smartwatches. I've noticed a trend among these G-Shock torture tests that just when you think you killed it, they come back to life! haha

As a beater I'd prefer the F91 since my wrists are small, I'd prefer a slimmer watch as a beater and not something chunky

interesting video, I have both but I always had a feeling there's few ways someone would actually break an f91 in their daily life. but I like the chunky look of the gshock too

Thanks. I would haves thought that the higher profile would put more pressure per area on the GShock and the F91w would get away with more. The water tests were very impressive.
i bought a F91w on November 19 2017 (i looked up my amazon orders) and today the strap broke but i have been wearing that piece 24/7 365. that thing is super tough it been thru everything (im a mechanic).. i just ordered replacements strap on ebay
Hey John, thanks for sharing that. The strap is definitely the weakest link with unprotected plastic crystal to follow. Glad you found replacements straps. I bet even with the replacement straps you still haven’t paid as much as a typical entry level watch.

The little F91w is a mighty impressive watch but the G is just the G for a reason. Would really like to see how a Chinese homage of a G-Shock would hold up to these tests.

My brother had a gshock at Sandhurst Officer Academy, one of the first, his brother officers played cricket, using it as the ball. They then ran it over flat on its back, with a TANK, cracked screen, hole in parade ground asphalt. Still functioned. As part of his punishment (for damaging the parade ground) the watch was stood on itsq side and run over again, that did it. You I notice have a concrete drive, that would probly do it😂😂 People always call bull when I tell this tale, but you know now how amazing they are.

and as an owner of the dw 9052
i more prefer the f 91 because its so light on the wrist and great for any activities (without scuba diving :)

This is why I believe Casio is god-tier, within the realm of Rolex, Patek, and Lange Sohne. The history, simple classic design, robustness and unbeatable value. It's my favorite brand, followed by Seiko as a close second.

An update on pricing, Apparently Casio and retailers have caught on and they raised F-91 price to 15 bucks (thereabouts). But the G-shock model in this video has been on clearance lately, JCPenney has it for 35 bucks right now!

Hello and welcome buddy. With Casio watches you can expect 5 years typically. If it says 10 yr battery life on the case you’ll get closer to 10. Thanks for watching.

Casio straps will degrade and snap well before the watch will. Buy the watch for the watch. Can always buy aftermarket straps.

This guy put a rope right under the the display of the f-91w. Of course the watch would get trashed since its weight distribution was to great, even a g-shock would get trashed like that.

A piece of gravel cracked the crystal on the G-chock. You did NOT really tested any of the watches tho. The G in G-chock stands for gravitation and non of your tests was about hard impact. Test them by dropping them from a hight.

That G Shock is a zombie!
G Shocks are about macho image whereas the F-91W is about functionality and minimalism. In real conditions the F91w is just as tough as a G Shock. It's slim lightweight construction make it extremely robust. If you destroy your F91w while wearing it, I dread to think what state your arm is in.

They are wristwatches...They are NOT Challenger II Tanks... Casio G-Shock watches are tough and very robust FOR A WRISTWATCH...But why do idiots think they are indestructible?

That cheap watch you have I had one just like it it made it through boot camp it made it through the military for 3 years lasted about 5 more years after that until it just became so scratched up you barely could read it and I replaced it I did go through two or three batteries
