This game was practically bleeding creativity. It's not nostalgia goggles to say that they put more love into this game than they've put in anything in a long time. The bygones days of Capcom really _were_ better, when they were just throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck. Cameo appearances and easter-eggs and little nods here and there, games like this were a Capcom fanboys opus.
Dmc5 and re2 remake so maybe there's hope.

I miss the anime art style and animations they had for the Pocket Fighter, Alpha, and MVC games.
It's ironic bcuz bengus did alot of the art in those games (Not sure about pocket fighter) but everyone shit on sfv lol which he also did.

Yeah, this one Capcom's most underrated games had tons of fun playing Pocket Fighter on Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for ps2. I definitely would love to see another Pocket Fighter sequel in a 3d form.

Max is absolutely gonna love the Classic Mode for Ryu in Smash Ultimate. Ken’s will likely be the same theme as Ryu’s too.

I expect Ryu to get classic SF2 references, whereas Ken gets references from other fighting series.
@Algamyst I'd switch the claw guy to be Wolf, and Guile could still be Guile (assist): Almost certain the challenges can have special rules of only having an assist to fight.

Joshua Lowe I mean their classic games are pretty godlike. That being said, unless you literally only like fighting games they've been pretty great recently with MHW, MM11, RE7 and the upcoming stuff, I have no clue why someone would still call them Crapcom in 2018.

It's always a little funny to see fighting game vets play Pocket Fighter and assume it's gonna be easy cause of how long they've played fighting games...but have so much trouble adjusting to the gems, the item throws and just how stupid fast it goes on speed 3. I've always had a soft spot for Pocket Fighters cause I love how the characters turn into other characters from Capcom games..in the case of June it's one of the few times we see her...I highly doubt Capcom is gonna bring the Plasma series back..even though they keep building the story with Project X Zone...seriously Project X Zone 2 was the last place we saw June and Hayato/Black Hayato.. they haven't had a game since Star Gladiator 2/Plasma Blade on Dreamcast..3 fighting series I'd love for Capcom to get to work on is a new Plasma Blade, a new Darkstalkers, and a new Rival Schools.

This was actually one of my favorite fighting games, it is so fun and goofy and i love it since the first time.
I was looking forward to this, finally a return back to Pocket Fighter.
This game is overflowing with charm and creativity, i remember back in the day I wanted to play this game SO badly, even to tis day this game is still silly and crazy and I love it about this game. Honestly I wish more fighting games took weird and crazy risks like these. Where the gameplay is just silly, weird, over the top fun.
I like how Ryu's appearance is almost a "Ken, come on, you're cheating on your wife. Jesus!" type deal

Gotta love the attention to detail in this game. Even the lives remaining (rounds lost) change into crying faces when it's down to 1. They need to make more games like this.
Also, when they lose, the life makes a wide-eye 'WTF!?' look before disappearing.

Ken, in my opinion, is pound-for-pound the greatest Street Fighter.
He has the strength, the spunk, and the sportsmanship of a perfect fighter.

This type of fighting game would be a great place to start for my young child. Pounding people in a fun and happy environment :)
That game's sequel was my first exposure to Darkstalkers. Good times.
I also like how the gem system effectively makes special moves more dangerous the longer the fight lasts. It's like the fighters are holding back initially or something.
Plus this shopping district stage with Bison and little Cammy has got to be one of the most adorable Capcom stages ever.

Man Pocket Fighter is legit awesome. We need a remaster or sequel and put it up for tournaments.
This used to be my faaaaaavorite game as a kid, definitely brings me back & I hope Capcom revives this game somehow in the future. As dope as it is that Max played this game, it was hard to fully enjoy. Lol he's doing the same basic punch string without mixing in kicks that show off the dope animations/references & actually give you more damage than trying to link jumping into crouching into specials. I'm only half way through so hopefully he picks that up, but I also remember how hard the CPUs are to fight in this game
