- After 9 years of saving up, we finally bought our dream property! But this place needs a TON of work. Today, we run through the shop and the barn, plus take on some serious problems. This place has lots of potential and after we take care of some basics I will be ready to start building my dream shop!

I'd say show it all, for me it's all great content. You could always do as VGG does and have a second channel for shop/yard projects and keep your current one strictly automotive.

Same here. The kids riding that dump truck down the hill cracked me up.
Don't worry about dirt in the drain pipe. We have hundreds of miles of it installed in the fields on farms out here in the mid west. They're buried right into the clay. No mesh, no rock, etc. You're on the right road!
If there was ever someone I wanted to see a shop build series from, it's definitely you. Please make ot a full build series and continue to provide the greatest inspiration I've seen on UA-cam in a while

Everybody loves shop builds! Water management is a huge priority. Stuff will last forever if it stays dry.
As a former plumber, you knew the possibilities the homestead has. Forge ahead, the plan will come together. As a former carpenter I look at blogs, say, I can fix that! Or, that's a teardown. That's how a tradesman looks at the job ahead. Somehow, working on my own place, finally, it isn't work... it's building the future. Kids are already ha ing fun. Building build up as I threshing to me a a 4x4s. BTW old (79) Oregonian here, worked in all 4 seasons, you gotta love the rain. Worked in SoCal couple with ters, started spring Klinger, e eryone going home. I asked why. Answer, it's raining! Heck, this isn't rain! You know what i
I love shop bullds and 4 important things I've learned so far watching videos is lighting, security, electrical panel and organization. For lighting I went with a company I saw that sponsored a bunch of shop builds and I bought their hyperlite high bay lights. Amazing!

As someone who bought a house on a half acre and then decided it was a good idea to build a wall around said half acre (4000+ block). You give me peace knowing I'm not the only crazy home owner out there tackling huge projects.

I've never followed anyone on UA-cam. Well you are my neighbor so I'm following. I'm the guy that was looking for his black lab that ran away because one of our other neighbors has a yellow lab in heat . Gonna swing by soon & formally meet you. I'm a general contractor with 25 years experience building homes, apartments, additions & specializing in kitchen/bath remodels.
Just a single subscriber here, I am back from a hiatus from your channel, it was just not my thing anymore. I like the fabrication stuff, not the “world’s biggest stuff. You got me back.
When you get a bit more development going, I highly recommend a skid steer, so many attachment for them. Almost like the can do all unit for small farms etc.

The little DIY man in me doens't stop with cars or 4x4's. Show it all! I love learning about this kind of yard work, and its inspiring me to fix up my own. Keep up the good work
fyi, that perforated drain pipe and the gravel around it will fill with dirt in no time. what you need to do is a french drain. dig a trench, line it with gravel, lay down 2 layers of landscaping fabric, fill some gravel and put a perforated pvc pipe (not flexable) in, schedule 40 defiantly if your driving on it, the flex pipe will collapse. then cover that with gravel, wrap the landscaping cloth up and over creating a burrito, pipe in the middle, surrounded by gravel, then landscaping fabric. then cover with more gravel and dirt. you can also do a burrito inside a burrito if you really want to make sure dirt dosent infeltrate. the trench needs to be about 3-4 times larger than you have it.

Nate, we are in the process of plowing, tilling, and working our food plot to start producing our own means to food. In addition we are working out of our 22x24 garage which is our small shop and I can confidently say it is a pleasure to see you heading in this direction.
It gives a level of grounded-ness and relatability to many of us who are on our way to this style of living.

Nate,.. we bought 52 acres of neglect in SW OR about 7 months ago. I've been doing nothing but work on the house trying to get it livable, a tractor to start working on the land and I have a similar shop that's 50X60,.. the rural lifestyle is where it's at! I wish we could talk and you lived close enough that I could help you from time to time.
And yes, let's see a whole series on the homestead, shop, cltruck barn build.

Welcome! I bought land that was treated like a junkyard ….been cleaning it out over the past two years.. previous owner used to build 4x4 mud trucks.. and left parts everywhere.. I was smoothing out a piece of the land and found a cam shaft!
Buy the equipment.. may save you some money, maybe some time.. maybe worth paying someone to haul off the trash in barn…ask me how I know..

Wife and I have been back off grid for 8 years , wouldn't have it any other way ! We have wind / solar , and a generator . Gravity water to the garden and animals . All the best to your new home.

You need a utility sideXside with a dump bed as well as at least a sub compact tractor with a loader my friend. Those two machines will vastly improve efficiency for work like this. Which it looks like you have an abundance of on that beautiful piece of property.
I used todo the same thing with my Tonka truck when I was their age!!!

You might want to consider building a soundproof room on the inside of the shop for your compressor. You’ve got a nice dry area inside now and any equipment will last longer and run better inside.
A video on shop build out would be well received! Layout, etc... perhaps with a compare/contrast to previous shop?
