Looks like the N-Strike stock point is the standard going forward. The Max Tomcat, Pro Mk-1.2, and others are using that method, with some including a N-Strike to buffer tube adapter
It looks like a simple ramp design pushes the dart deeper into the "chamber" upon rotation of the cylinder. Sometimes a bit of simplicity goes a long way.
I'd like to point out it isn't just relying gravity feeding the darts down, it appears like there's some sort of either spring loaded lever or angled surface on the topstrap on the blaster above the cylinder that's pushing the second dart down to line it up into the barrel. Surprised you didn't see it!
Didnt realize the chrono difference between old waffles and the new ones was so large. Kind of an eye opener..explains why the green ones are a little jammy too...thanks Coop, great video as always.
I think semi-automatic shall be as good as it can get. Because at the very least, you can finger bang as fast as you can and to my knowledge, besides the Prometheus, Perseus and Mach-100, fully automatic blasters tend to be much slower than a semi-automatic when your trigger banging is on point. Unfortunately, Dart Zone hasn't made yet a fully automatic blaster that can compete with such fire rate.
@@limpetarch98k With the force that it takes to pull the trigger of this blaster, I don't think that finger banging would be practical at all using this. Your finger would just tire out sooner. That being said, with the cylinder design that this blaster has, I am not totally sure how a full auto version of this blaster would function exactly.
Dart Zone's gonna overshadow everyone else; I mean, they're also better than Zuru or Buzz Bee atm Like, they've become the baseline between Conventional and 3D Printed
I’ve not bought a foam blaster in years, with the last one being a stockade, and this seems like a massive upgrade from that. And the stock from that blaster would likely pair well with this one, since it gives you dart storage of 10 darts, meaning you don’t need to scavenge quite as much in longer games.
I have one of these. It quickly became one of my all time favorite blasters. Its only real drawbacks are the lack of jam door, having only a slot to get a tool into to fix a jam, and that the trigger feels a little janky. But i love its capacity, its stock attachment point and sling points, and the fact that it has two places for your front hand. The stock point is so far back, that even a Retaliator stock is plenty comfortable to use. Though my favorite here is the Scravenger stock. Its just as short and im 6' tall, but its set back enough to be very comfortable for me.
It's like the 4th time DZ made changes to the Barricade/Stockade design (Cylinder/Drum fed semi-auto blasters), which is neat to me. The others are the Double Trouble, Savage Spin, and the Cornerfire. All of which has their own gimmick (Nestled cylinders in the Double Trouble, mechanical Cylinder swapping in the savage spin, and shooting out of cover in the Cornerfire)
Ok today afternoon (2 pm IST to be precise😅) I was thinking of a flywheeler with an integral drum...and lo! Got Coop's review of one! Thank you Coop for your content and what help you do for the FFC (Foam-Flinging Community)
It seems to me that there IS a spring that makes sure the darts are fed consistently - it's just not a part of the magazine, there is a piece protruding down from the blaster on top of the darts in the drum that I believe is what makes sure that the dart is in the bottom of that two-dart channel, ready to feed. So it's not purely gravity fed, the element is just not the part of the drum itself.
For their removable magazines, belts, etc., Dart Zone sells replacements on their site. Yes, even the exclusives like Adventure Force. So why do they not have standalone Tomahawk drums?
@@weakestbutterscotchenjoyer It's been on Target's site for 2-3 months, and I recall things like the superdrums or Cornerfire cylinders dropping before those blasters were this old
@@pennygadget7328 oh well, I guess it's not high on the priority list, dart zone has been working on getting the logistics of the DZP MK 3 out. There's a lot more to it than just selling a part with no blaster.
If you are curious, there is a small angled piece in the firing mech mech that pushes the upper dart down during the second run through the drum when you rotate the blaster. This is why it feeds consistently even when you are firing upside down.
Wait! There is a spring that pushes the darts down. It is more like a tab that the darts slide under. It applies a constant amount of pressure so the large darts get pushed down. It is just above the firing chamber. I also had firing inconsistncies on mind if you fire REALLY fast. But you can control this. The cylinder can also fall out if you are too rough. This blaster is great but does have some weaknesses
I know this isn't news to anyone, but the accuracy between waffle head and nerf elite darts is amazing. The switch from one to the other in this video highlighted it so well.
Next we need to see a flywheeler with a 60 drum for half length darts. How sweet would that be? I may get this. Just did a full Spectrum rebuild and itching for moar!
So... It looks like there is a spring that pushes the darts into the firing position, rather than relying on gravity. When you click the drum into place, there is a great big orange wedge looking thing that rests inside the groove. I would imagine that thing puts pressure on the darts, and keeps them ready to fire, even when the blaster is upside down. Never having held the blaster myself, that's just a guess.
... this is the first blaster that's been reviewed in quite a while that I think coop has recomend to competative nerfers and not that casual market...

Two things: 1. The lower chrono velocity from the green and blue waffles is probably lower due to the blaster's faux barrel and wider rubber heads on these darts hitting the inside of it as they exit the barrel. The red darts' (referred to as "chilli darts" by some) narrower heads probably rectifies this problem, and in turn also probably rectifies the problems they have in Nerf blasters with long faux barrels. 2. There is actually a (spring loaded?) tab at the top of the blaster that pushes the darts in the cylinder down so they feed properly. During the firing test you can see the single darts moving around in the channels in the drum, but that tab at the top pushes the dart to the inside of the drum so it can fire.
I think the whole darts being replaced by gravity always works because even if the blaster is upside down the drum will eventually rotate to right-side up meaning there is always going to be gravity acting on the darts at the right time at some point
One thing i've noticed that has broken on BOTH of my models is the tiny little post on the dart pusher that the return spring is on. Once that tiny post breaks, good bye dart pusher return. I hope someone makes a more sturdy 3D printed, or metal dart pusher. I want to love this blaster, but that one design flaw is killing it for me. Hopefully, I can fix the one that i still have as I returned one to target.
I liked my tomahawk until the return spring attachment point on the dart pusher ripped off after maybe 2 full drums. Got it glued back into place but now the pusher gets stuck in the cylinder while it tries to rotate. Nothing against the blaster or dart zone, love ‘em both. Just a flaw mine had.
i believe it works because at some point gravity is going to pull the dart down no matter the positioning because it’s a drum and i would assume it’s designed to only let darts fall into the bottom easily but not be knocked out. not sure entirely how but seems like an interesting idea
DZ's other blasters at Target have been getting the new darts too and their 200-dart refill is also slowly being replaced by them. Any chance you might do a new dart comparison video? I know this is a kinda old video at this point but in case anyone is wondering (haven't actually heard any reviews mention it so maybe this will help someone) there is a little spring pusher at the top of the chamber that has a very low spring force but would be enough to ensure chambering the darts at any angle to counteract the gravity feed potential problems.
There is a reason why it feeds reliably upside down as if you take the drum out you'll notice there's 2 details hanging down thobeing down those have a Spring behind them so they apply pressure to the darts thus why it can feed upside down.

The thrashing cylinder is actually a selling point for me. I love it when the priming handle thrashes up into the handle of my Jolt, and this looks like it thrashes even harder. When considering whether or not to buy a blaster I don't think about chrono velocities or N-Strike attachment points, I only ask one question; does it thrash? Cuz if it don't thrash, it's trash.
I know it’s flywheel powered, but I didn’t hear a thing! Idk if it’s the music or the microphone angle, or the rotating thud of the drum, but the flywheels are very quiet

Dartzone is cool, they make electric guns of many kinds that run on AA batteries.
Two things:
