@jsingleton17 Art Morrison designed the Chassis for the icon bronco and it's back in their shop for a few suspension tweaks before they go to production. We were going to drive it, but it's a sold vehicle so we couldn't take it out in the hailstorm that was happening outside.

I just hit the like button before watching because when Art Morrison is involved I know I´ll like it
The first time I saw an Art Morrison frame was at Roy Brizio's Speed Shop in South San Francisco. I could tell I was looking at a superior piece of engineering. Mandrel bends, precision welds, cylindrical and rectangular steel tube, all coming together to make a lighter and stronger frame. Later I would help install a frame on a 1958 Corvette..The minute you see one you'll want one. Art Morrison frames make the original frame look clumsy and obsolete. Bravo.
I first heard of Art Morrison when i actually played a racing simulator called Gran Turismo 5, they only have the 60's Corvette in the game but its so much fun to drive that i looked them up.
This was the first of your videos I was excited to watch. Why did you guys skip over what they actually do? This felt like a watered down factory tour, and I didn't learn a thing.
They have one of these guys cars in Gran Turismo 5 :) . (I can't remember what model it is, but i've definitely seen their brand symbol - possibly it was one done up for SEMA.)
@Logicalification Oh, of course. When they said they wanted the cars to handle like a modern car what they meant was a modern American car, I forget that you guys are still 20 years behind on the suspension side of things.
I have to agree with apinner. The video quality is very good but the music is sometimes out of place. For example, the part where Matt and Craig are walking through the stock room (7:40 on) and up until the end of the video, the music feels like it was made for a horror film. In fact the stock room did not need any music at all.
you guys shouldve waited lik an hour its washington our weather is random as hell! lol and for any doubters out there let me tell you this on the 1st day of spring it rained, snowed, hailed, and clear skys with sun within a 2 hour time span
I'm not sure where the "American muscle car: Mini cooper" comes from. They aren't in the same market, racing league, or even idea. The Mini would slaughter on a rally course, Muscle car on drag strip. Europe had a greater focus on handling for sure; we had the "muscle car era", and were focused on drag racing. It's just the direction our industry went. IRS is better, but you CAN do a lot with a solid axle. The Mustang GT being only .10 seconds of the M3 pace at Willow Springs is proof.
Does anyone else find it kind of disrespectful that Matt doesn't remove his gloves to shake hands with people let alone remove his hat when entering the shop.
@eatmydustdusteaters The 3g Corvette they built, from 1960, can achieve over 1g on a skid pad. That's higher than MOST cars, INCLUDING european cars. The cost involved in changing it to an independent rear end would be huge, and that Corvette is already costing about $300,000. I agree independent rear is best, but when you're upgrading a 60 year old car to the level these guys get, why bitch about it?
I will tell you this Art Morrisson frames are way better than the robot frame you get by buying a frame from general motors rather you have your frame built by a robot or by a company that built a frame like.it should be built a good quality frame too bad general motors should up their quality and sub contract their frames engineering to Art Morrison's frames keep it American spirit. Thanks 😊
Not likely. I am on a forum (not your average one though, less idiots than most, thank god) and one of the guys on holiday went to see UR. He basically got told to f*ck off. He had much better luck at Nelson Racing Engines. I wish drive had a bigger network, despite the fact that everyone hates us, car enthusiasts build some crazy shit here in Australia i.e. 7 second KE20 Corollas, V12 Subies etc.
@eatmydustdusteaters On the back of their cars from the 50s and 60s? So that people can use a lot of the parts they have on their car already? Yes, yes they are.
@eatmydustdusteaters I'm sorry, were European cars any better in 1960? I seem to recall Ford and Chevy were just as competitive in racing at that time as Ferrari or Porsche, and Mercedes and BMW weren't even in Le Mans headlines. I KNOW European cars recently were better than USA ones, but this car goes, stops and corners better than most cars, INCLUDING European ones. You need a GT3 RS to corner as well as this. It's certainly better than your average Mercedes, BMW or Audi. Dont be so naive.
I learned we lost Craig today. Circling back to this video to show some appreciation for all the work these gentlemen do. RIP Craig.

Matt Farah is my second favorite @ Drive; after Leo. Matt makes all the info and tech understandable and engaging. Thanks Matt, for rocking!
Beautiful welds. Great shop.
Thanks for good stuff.
@pokinacha in America, it's a hard sound, "chassie" is correct.
This was genuinely interesting! Its nice to get a break from all the tyre smoking.....sometimes :)

I love this kind of detail. It makes me smarter. 😇 I am sold in 2021 on a real suspension setup for classics. Worth the extra money IMO.
This very well may be the best channel on youtube

4:10 Icon Bronco, these boys have goood taste.
Very Nice video.... Love this kind of videos, looks like a "behind the scenes"
I love that they are just a 45 min drive from my house makes me proud to be a Washingtonian
are you guys gonna go to underground racing in NC by any chance? their shop looks amazing
I like all your videos, but I don't understand why you don't upload them in Full HD!
cool video
Its great to see how they make this stuff.
They have one of these guys cars in Gran Turismo 5 :) .
(I can't remember what model it is, but i've definitely seen their brand symbol - possibly it was one done up for SEMA.)
Cool video. Can you do a segment on Underground Racing?
@apinner glad I'm not the only one noticing & urging an improvement to audio across all of the Drive (& FLD) shows.
Do they ever make aluminum space frame? Something more modern and lighter?
@bordenwesley - We have been doing the chassis for ICON for some time. The Bronco was up at the shop for some suspension tuning.
tuned is my favorite
ayy tom morningstar, fix the sound! you are the best automotive video man out there, your videos deserve better sound than this
Amazing to me that it doesn't crimp the chassis tubing.
@Logicalification Most excellent!
@Logicalification Oh, of course. When they said they wanted the cars to handle like a modern car what they meant was a modern American car, I forget that you guys are still 20 years behind on the suspension side of things.
4:06 -- Is that an Icon Bronco in lower left hand corner? If so, what are the Morrison boys doing with it?
can you do this with fairly modern cars? old cars are so much more tuner friendly
hard way bends. amazing
I agree dude, but some people were never told.
@ruigoncalves2 I don't think a guy who buys some parts has a legal expectation of privacy.
yes but handeling it doesn't have the jag rear end (indepenent rear suspension > half shafts)
I thought @Brian Shaw was doing a burnout at the beginning!
Was that the ICON Bronco @4:15?!?

Hmmm... is that an ICON Bronco in the back ground?
Wish you guys would sort out the sound! Camera work is spot on but your mixing is always all over the place.
I really like this report! Interesting stuff.
Plus you are decent and give them a handshake instead of som gangstah pose or whatever.
@Choncho661 i saw that too, i believe it is. Very exciting
Soooooooo, these guys are still putting beam axles on the back of there cars?
@tanner1ie it was the 60s Corvette
@tanner1ie The '60 Corvette is in GT5. It's one of my favorite vehicles on the whole game.
you guys shouldve waited lik an hour its washington our weather is random as hell! lol and for any doubters out there let me tell you this on the 1st day of spring it rained, snowed, hailed, and clear skys with sun within a 2 hour time span
9:12 subtitles are wrong is not Chinese but Japanese (Japanese name and address)
Did anyone else notice the Ford Bronco Concept in the background at like 4:30?
@bordenwesley You can order an ICON with an Art Morriso chassis if you check the option box for "fuckin awesome!"
I live next to these guys how awesome is that!? Im going to go work for them for free.
I hope Art has a very, VERY long and productive life. I hope I can afford an AME multilink IRS before he decides to head up to the big blue house.
anyone see the icon bronco?
@ReggyRay289
The 1920s called. They want their etiquette back.

At least he took the fingers off
@DanFrederiksen That's not what they're about. Enjoy your EV1.
4:19 hey sweet an Icon Bronco...... not every day you see a 200k off roader
VERY NICE if you are rich. Original hot rodder's were not this rich.
Gran Turismo 5!

probably just really cold and the other guys can handle it while not much hair Matt cant
Who you calling boy?
100% American-made.
Why don't they just hire Bender?

If ppl dont like upgrading classic car chassis they need to b a car collector... LOL
Chassis is said 'shazzy' not 'chassy'...
Unassuming building isn't that like big block to look like a small block
@snakesinmypants It's called Google..
@DanFrederiksen But desirable all the same.
11 minutes and 27 seconds of people mispronouncing Chassis.
No.
I live 5 min away from this place. No one cares :(
Boring...
no. no one cares.
