Played P770s for about a year. I’ve had no unexpected flyers. None. They are remarkably consistent for me and they’re staying in my bag 😀

Your not hitting the face dead center enough. When you do, you’ll notice it when your shots aren’t stopping on a 1 hop. They’ll be laying on the edge of green.

@@larrysellars8399 🤣 I hit the centre of the face plenty of times. The key point of my statement above was they work for *me*. Doesn’t mean they work for everyone.

Having just come back from Titleist's National fitting center in Canada, and hitting the T100, T100s & T200, and also being a current older generation AP2 player, I can honestly say that the T100 should be considered a replacement for the CB - a club I got the feeling from the fitter that will be discontinued going forward. The T100 is tiny compared to my older AP2 - the T200 is actually the same size. The T200 really sits between the P770 & P790 - that perfect center strike flyer really highlights why they aren't comparable.

How old are you bro? I’m 29 and was high level up until 22-23 until life hit me and haven’t really touched the clubs since until recently. I played 695cb/mb combo set back in the day. I LOVED my old cb’s. I got a set of the first gen T100S and I just don’t feel the same buttery softness and feel that I had with my old Titleist. I’m also questioning if I like the stronger lofts or not. I’m thinking the 2021 T100 has more of the feel I’m lookin for by I haven’t hit any of the new gens. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the novel, just seemed like you know what’s up so just wanted to ask. And btw you are correct about them discontinuing the CBs. I remember reading somewhere a while back they are trying to put that line to rest which is sad :(

@@jonafrica5739 Don't think any cavity back with tungsten is ever going to feel the same as a pure one hundred percent forged club - that said, the T100 is the number one played club on every tour - so the fact that it doesn't have the slot and the juiced lofts, is going to make it the closest thing - and it's small - but with those corner tungsten weights to it just gives you that hint of forgiveness that a muscle back can't - and when playing for money on tour, money talks and the players have voted that it is better. I would put the Callaway TCB is the same category - solid, no slots, slight cavity, swing weighted right behind the sweet spot for feel - played by Rahm, Xander and many of the other Callaway guys. I put these as the two very top truly player's cavities. I would play them all the way to five-iron and then decide what you need at four iron to hit your longest Par Three - it's basically what all the Pros have done.

    • @jonafrica5739
      @jonafrica5739 2 роки тому

@@wallstreetoneil this is basically what I was thinking. It’s not the most played iron on EVERY tour for no reason. Did you ever have a go with any of the original t series? I have te 2019s and I’ve been hearing the 21s feel considerably better. I’m still on the fence with the juiced lofts I’ll have to figure that out. Thanks for the input and reply bro!

@@jonafrica5739 No - played the very original 2008 AP2s, which I honestly still think cannot be beaten if the offset in the longer clubs doesn't put you off, and then the very last model year AP2s with a set of slightly lighter graphite shafts as an experiment - which I now use as a half set in a light Sunday bag setup occasionally. I have a few different sets of clubs - my current full set gamer bag is a crazy combo set of various Mizuno irons and wedges, with tour-spec heavy shafts in the short end moving to a couple lighter higher launching graphite shafted hollow-body long irons, then into a small-headed fade-biassed TX-flex shafted hybrid, then some Callaway woods all set up to fade. The bag works really well, shooting at or around Par, so just letting everything be and not looking at anything new right now. I have a few extra clubs that go in and out of the bag depending on the course - a tight hole driving 2-hybrid, a 5wood, and a low-bounce high-toe 62-degree wedge for courses with hard sand. In my younger days, I was a tournament-level tennis player. With that background, I've recently moved to bigger grips and a 10-finger baseball grip, first only as an experiment to give me that tennis forehand feel, but I made the switch last year after really liking it - it allows my very dominant righthand to get in control. My golf swing is a combo of a high hands Xander look, then a Xalatoris/Wolf/Garcia layoff loop that comes from my tennis background days. I'm also a Canadian that played a lot of competitive ice hockey and I had a big slapshot - so that has led to the classic very forward hands de-lofted Canadian hockey player delivery - this is something I learned from the National Fitting Center Titleist guys - and it led me into my crazy current bag where I have taken stronger lofted irons, bent them all weaker to increase the bounce on all the clubs - it works much better for my delivery.

I think the T100S's are closer to the P770 than the T100. I couldn't split the difference between the performance of the P770, T100S and Srixon ZX7s when I was fitted earlier this year. I tried the P7MC and T100 and they were definitely similar in performance. Ultimately superior looks and being a TM fanboy swayed me and I'm more than happy with my new P770s.

8 yard flyer will hurt you less than an 8 yard drop off on a slight miss hit....

Everything you mentioned about the P770 is why I thought maybe the T100 wasn't a good comparison. You mentioned how the P770 is more forgiving and wants to be fast while the T100 requires a bit more precision. I would have thought the T100S or as you mentioned the T200 would have been a better match for the P770.

I currently game the P770 as well and have had some flyer ( maybe 3-4 times in over 20 rounds) 9&8 irons, could possibly be me, but they flew the green or hit and bounced hard and flew the green with the bounce.

    • @BaBaBooeyWRLD

Any iron can hit a flier at any time. It’s golf. With a pure solid forged blade or similar iron you get the opposite of a flier and the ball goes nowhere.

I could play either club very happily. I am not convinced that the P770 has flyers, the shot Lee was worried about could be a launch monitor misinterpretation, you would need to play a few rounds with both clubs to really be certain. I haven't tested the T100s but I have tried the P770s and I really like them - but I play i210s and the P770s are certainly no better than those

Is someone in the market for irons really considering these two? I can't imagine someone considering T100 is also considering P770 (and vice versa). I would think that the P7MC are the more apt comparison to the T100, while the T200 and P770 are the better fit/comparison.

Lee forget about distance and go for dispersion sideways and front to back , you cant hit a blade 7 180 carry and you don’t have to any consistent number is better and you can play good golf around it .golf is all about hitting consistency with any club ,not about distance ,it doesn’t matter how far it goes if its spraying all over the place ,

VERY loosely in the same bracket. I know golfers who play the T100 who think the 770 is too thick to consider, and P770 players who think the T100 is scary. And your on-course demonstration in the end of your video is why no tour player has 770's in the bag, and the T100 is the #1 iron on tour. And this benefit can help your amateur golfer as well. Those hollow body flyers are ridiculous.

This video makes no sense, these irons aren’t even in the same category. The new t100 are almost identical to the 620cb and are a traditional players cb. The 770 are much closer to t200 in category than t100. The t100 are closer in comparison to P7mc except they are slightly smaller footprint and less forgiving. Head scratcher here

P770 are not "power bats". Lofts are, by modern standards, relatively weak 7i is 33 degrees so only 1 degree stronger than the T100 - actually P770s have the same lofts as my i210s which no one has ever accused of being "power bats".
I am not changing my i210s so I have no dog in this fight, but I have tested the P770s and tbh the performance was effectively the same as the i210s and the spin rates very similar (i210s got slightly more spin)
