      There they might be able to seek help and at least have food and shelter away from abusers.

      I'm actually friends with the Sgt who was leading the bust. He and I have a lot of the same trauma and triggers from operating in spaces with scary traffickers and sex buyers. When we don't have any resources for victims, LE's hands are somewhat tied. They had absolutely zero resources to provide me with, no place to take me, no advocate to help me, no funding to support me. They had a cell and FBI funds to fly me home once all of the cases were wrapped up. What happened to me is horrific but it didn't happen in a vacuum. One officer assaulted me repeatedly and he still recounts it like a championship football game which is awful and I don't talk to him still lol. It's a mixed bag. Ultimately, we shouldn't have to rely on an officers moral compass or comprehension in order to protect victims. Any person being trafficked should be ordered resources. Keep in mind every case isn't cut and dry where they say 'this person forced me to do this'. Often times the victims are brain washed into thinking they want to do it and only later see how they were manipulated into it and hate their abuser. Because of that it can get very complicated. So sad. We really need to shut it all down but again it gets complicated. Ppl want to legalize prostitution because they feel selling your body is your choice but often they are manipulated into it.

      To be fair and verify, I researched and the criminalization of child prostitution does not appear to correlate with the political leaning of a state, likely since the issue is not as discussed like abortion is. For example, California, Florida, Georgia, and Washington never charge minors with prostitution, but Texas, New York, Massachusetts, and Kansas carry few to no protections for minors against charges of prostitution.

    • @akhromyn
      @akhromyn Рік тому +23

      @@BarracusObamus That guess does not appear logical. Why would higher rates of child trafficking cause a state to carry less protections for minors against charges of prostitution operated by their child traffickers? If anything, higher rates would increase its relevancy and the incentive for legislators to address the issue.
