Great video. Thanks for updating us. What we did with our dark oak cabinets was to degrease with tsp and rinse rinse rinse it off and then sand so you don’t drive the grease into the wood. Sand until you think your done and then sand some more. Two coats of primer allowing a full day between coats to dry. Then two coats of an enamel top coat paint allowing at-least 2 or 3 days to dry between coats. Then let cure couple weeks before putting on hardware and installing. Lots of work but you won’t regret it. We just posted on our channel a 2 and half yr update video on our painting results.
@@dropndeal It’s been 3 years and all is fine. We understand over time bleed through may gradually happen. Just like our white kitchen walls, the white cabinets over time will dull and will at some point start to wear. When that happens we will make a choice to repaint them (which should be much easier than the first time around) or completely reface them. No matter what type of paint you use you will need to paint over them at some point. Nothing is like a factory finish. But you are correct that oil based will give less bleed through. Thanks for posting a comment for our viewers to consider.
It really is. I’m currently working on painting my bathroom cabinets and the last owner did exactly that. Painted or all the hardware. It was hell to remove too.
Painting cabinets is such a major project….done it twice cuz I can’t do anything else with my “grandma kitchen” with the crappy home-made cabinets and ugly tile countertop…..it’s a real handyman nightmare scenario. I advise LOTS OF PREP and buying the best cabinet-specific paint you can afford, like B. Moore Advance alkyd semi-gloss. And be sure to let the paint cure for at least a week between coats….don’t wreck all your hard work by being impatient.
For years I thought it was a crime to paint over wooden cabinets, so glad I painted over my wooden cabinets after 3 years of living in the house. Doesn’t look like my grandmothers house anymore!
Unpainted cabinets look outdated. They remind me of my childhood home that was built 30 years ago, and of wood paneling from the 70s. The only place where they don’t look dated is log cabins and other similar buildings.
There's no useful information in here. It's 15 seconds worth of common sense information dragged out for over 5 minutes. Let me save you some time. 1. If you do this yourself it's gonna look awful, so don't get your hopes up. (duh) 2. It's a long process. (duh) 3. Clean the cabinets before painting. (seriously? double duh) 4. You have to remove the doors to do it. (FML... c'mon) 5. Label doors/drawers when you remove them. (okay, for dumb people this is a good tip_
Not recommended. The contant scuffing of taking things out and putting them back in (plates, glasses, spices etc) will chip even the best paint. Then you have paint chips to clean off your dishes before using them.

What primer did you use ? Oil or water based?
@@melissanerby7668 bullseye 1 2 3 water base interior/exterior primer/sealer.

Thank you
Thanks robot
Are adults really commenting on their dislike of the robotic voice. Entire video full of good tips, but criticism is a must I guess.
@@dropndeal You tell me.
Yes, insane...and some people even feel the urge to to criticize the criticism. There is no end to it
Thank you! I'm not the only one who hates freaking Microsoft Sam voiceovers.
Bro not removing the doors is the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

The Robot voice is a NO for me😔
And the music. Wth
For sure! Amazing they can even replicate a human voice but I hated that too!
Well as far as computer voices go, this one wasn't the worst I've heard, but what is so hard about having someone read copy nowadays?
Paying them
#1 mistake is starting this project ;)
That’s exactly what I’m thinking one day in.
Lovey my KrydcKutter for this and chalk paint.
I turn off videos narrated by a voice bot. Siri and I had a rocky relationship. I promised myself she'd be the last
This is a very good video unlike other robot based videos. Definitely worth the watch
wow its pretty work mam 😊
Very helpful
Is that what the inside of my utensil drawer should look like? :/ :(
This is hilarious lol 😂
Great ideas!
Thank you!
Painted cabinets look cheap. Natural wood never looks out dated and is beautiful
Sorry but not true. been selling houses for years and i can't even sell houses with natural wood anymore. time to get with the times!

The first 20% of the video is filler. No intro needed
What if you’re just painting the inside of your cabinets?

Jesus Christ , just get to it damn !!!
