@Adam Zahavi i feel the concern of socializing kids coercively, but we already do that in a lot of places. We teach kids that they have to wear clothes and obey the rules and not take things that "don't belong to them" by telling them they're in trouble and giving them timeouts or denying them dinner or revoking their privileges until they agree not to transgress in those ways. Leaving out "some of us understand that we need to overthrow the ownership class as radically as monarchies were overthrown throughout most of the world, but in school they'll teach you everything is fine because schools teaching about these problems get in trouble" or whatever, feels like it's leaving out a huge component of the truth imo.

The problems of capitalism are not new, and have been about since it's inception. America is more capitalistic than most nations, and because of our plutocratic republic the only corrective legislation that gets past must offer profitable incentive. So naturally no really corrective measures are put into place until the public can't stand it anymore, and the plutocrats throw a few pennies to keep the masses happy. The problems then mutate and fester until our hedonism can't stand it anymore, and we have to be bought off again.

"mean Your means will have to justify your ends?" I don't take this line as a praise to a deaf and blind self-rightness. I take this philosophy as "All ends well when your means have justified your ends, but you could not have been sure of it at the start. The big right thing you needed to do was not rooted in legal calculations, it was rooted in a feeling that the slavery is at your door"
The means justifying the ends is a phrase means that you must do the immediately good thing, at the risk of causing something bad later on. An example is the trolley problem, where you do not flick the switch as murder is wrong, even if your inaction leads to 4 more deaths than flicking the switch. In this context, it refers to people who do the immediately right thing, who follow the law because they consider it good, not thinking about the other consequences of their actions.
Attend to the mode. The means you have restrict your options and not all means can lead to all ends. But you need to act, because freedom is a verb, an action and an urge, something that you make, something that you take, so your means, whichever you have, that allow you act towards freedom, to freedom (as a verb) are the means that will have to justify your ends. You don't get the perfect final state but by your action, your freedoming, it is justified anyhow.
