Yes, we are all thriving - thank you for the great comments - I am 57 now and still playing up a storm over here in the states. Bright blessings to you all and the good old days :)) Sarah-Jane SJ Belle Star - lead guitar and back up vocals
You are the blonde one up there! I have this "Dance Craze" compilation more than 35 years I think, and this is such a warm, feminine song, always my favorite. Good luck to you and thanks for such a nice tune!
Seattle, 1981 -- I was 22 and just out of university, working at a theatre, staying out all night. Bought a record by Madness & my eyes were opened. "Dance Craze" made it to Seattle later that year. This particular song became an instant favorite & I have been searching for a video/dvd of the movie for years. Now I have a good copy. I may be 49 years old, married, with 5 kids, but this takes me right back to those great days. Such energy & joyful defiance. Hope all these women thrive
@@halenbud Had a look at your playlists some very good music, I am meeting up with a mate I ain't seen for about 9 months tonight so entertainment is sorted with a few of your playlists including Mod, The Jam, New Wave, New Wave 2. After the scene faded away around 82/83 I got into Big Country and The Smiths and still today both remain equally my favorite bands of all time. Seen The Smiths first then Big Country. 1 of the most underrecognized and underrated bands of all time in the UK is Big Country and they never got the credit they deserved. Playing live they were something different, they performed live on New Years Eve 1982/83 at Glasgow Barrowlands only 1 year after they formed and with just 1 album, The Crossing I think the concert speaks for itself. I noticed you had a playlist of full concerts and the link is below for the concert mentioned above, if you could see your way to adding it I would be grateful. Many thanks Garry. ua-cam.com/video/cjEHoDFyFi0/v-deo.html
I've posted the lyrics below. Love this tune used to listen to it on the Dance Craze album when it came out back in 1982. This was my favourite track, danced around on my own to it back in Liverpool when I was 11.
Brilliant song by The Bodysnatchers, I remember in 80s to right now, I came a Mod back in 80s, I was teenager, I talk to Rhoda online. I create my own Two Tone SKA song already. I love this song lot. First I heard this song, I learn how to do Skank dancing. I am original Mod. I have been to London, UK in September,8th-18,2017, it was Brilliant, part of my background is from UK. I Skank dance at The Specials concert in Toronto on Wednesday, June,19,2019. If Rhoda get together with The Bodysnatchers I will go see then in concert too.
Southern California 1983. Mod was all I wanted to be, after hearing the Specials and Madness, and even the Go-Gos. There were guys on vespas..so many sources of inspiration. Plenty of 50s-60s in the thrift stores. I remember finding a beaded sweater set in a thrift store in Pismo Beach and feeling on top of the world.
I've been waiting, so long for this here time to come But now it's here do I want it? Now it's here, I'm not sure if I want it Why don't I go for the easy option? Yes I could go for the easy option It could be so easy, Life could be so easy! We are near to our equality Get the boss to pay parity We are near to our equality There's lots says there is equal opportunity But still it's a struggle This life is still a struggle I could stay home and playhouses Clean for my man and press his trousers Hey girls it's not too late To stay home and vegetate Just like Mama says you should do Like society says you should do Is this our natural fate? Are we just meant to procreate? If I didn't have to use my brain I know that I would go insane I refuse and I want to say No! I don't care if it's hard, if it's so
I played alto sax🎷 in BAND🎶 in middle school, in Marin County, CA. It was the early '80's... I so should have joined a ska band...🖤🤍⬛🔲 💙LOVE The Bodysnatchers!!!!💙🎶
Loved "Dane Craze" LP when it came out 😎 ..... Body snatchers "Easy life" one of the stand out tracks .......... In 2018 saw Selecter in 40th anniversary tour @ Academy Rhoda Daker was special guest/dj got meet her top drawer stuff indeed 😎👍.
played with them at a few gigs....they were great females, what a hoot, they invited us too london to do a gig with them, wicked time we had.....if you see this Rhoda hope your ok......
During the Second Wave ska movement, there were indeed skinheads and mods (at least people mimicking the original mods), even in Seattle. I remember the small phalanx of multi-mirrored Vespas parked in the University District. But from 1978-81, Punk, New Wave, and Second Wave ska were the really interesting movements. We didn't have the mod-skinhead tensions because here it was really just a fasion trend. During the so-called Third Wave ska movement, Neville Staples lived in Seattle.
Forget how good The Bodysnatchers were, it was gonna be hard for them to get a look in and a fair crack share of the market with the male ska groups having such big followings great days and wicked memories.
This is an out-take from the film "Dance Craze". The editor combined two different performances of this song during the same tour. Hence the "costume changes". It was a bit of a clumsy film.
I'm a little out of my depth with you all who actually lived/live in the UK. Just out of curiosity, what do you think of the American band Rancid? They have mined a great deal from the 2-tone sound in their day. I consider them to be the closest to the spirit of the Coventry-based bands from the '70-'80 era.
@potsdammer (The only) 70 mm blow-up print of 'Dance Craze' ran at the Bradford Widescreen Weekend in March this year. Joe Dunton was there, and during the discussion afterwards did say something about while he thought the film really needed the big screen, perhaps the time being right for a Blu-ray release of the film.
Brilliant band - such a shame you didn't produce an album, certainly enough material for one. A Bodysnatchers album would have been the equal of the Specials' first album and One Step Beyond. You were one of the most important British ska bands. Who wrote Mixed Feelings? I love that song.
I found this on UA-cam several years ago. I don't know who originally posted it. It's from the movie "Dance Craze" which is out of print and extremely hard to find -- which is a real shame!
+Sailordude2012 Oh I don't know ,I thought Too Experienced was a brilliant track, even if it was a cover version. Their live set had a few awesome tunes.....luckily we can hear them now as Rhoda Dakar has released an album of Bodysnatchers songs and brilliantly done it is too !! Sounds as if it was indeed an original Bodysnatchers album.
Erm... I got my first skinhead in 1979 and saw all the two tone bands over the next two years.... plenty of mods around but also punks, skins and greasers. Racist? heard of SHARP? Great times.
both of you are talking Rubbish , when two tone was a round there wasnt mods, skinheads or anything like that , it was juts about the music , you either where into two tone/ ska or you where into heavy metal,,

And such a good statement: "Life could be so easy"
Easily.
But it's not.
Beautiful, but not easy.
almost 2023 and still TOP RANK, SJ ^^
WOW! So cool! Thanks for all the great music, and the true Ska culture of inclusiveness and kick ass music!
The Bodysnatchers. Formed Sept 1979. Disbanded Oct 1980. They shone so bright for such a short time. My favourite 2 Tone group.
I love this song so much it hurts. Maybe the best of all of the 2Tone songs and there were a lot of great songs from that label/era!
awesome song ... ( old 633 Scotter Club , Tilbury Essex )
For those into this music in the day, these lyrics were a call to speak out. We've lost an edge nowadays.
Far better than the studio version.

One of the best songs ever written.
Agreed. This one just kills me. Too bad the band didn't last very long.
Still a favorite. Tight rhythm, great vocals, excellent track. Love ya!!!
Thank you again for all the great and continued feedback - those were great days and cherished memories :))
Superb 🇬🇧😎🎷. Remember seeing this at my local cinema.

Great beat and great lyrics from the Bodysnatchers. Excellent rude girl beat. RESPECT.
This song is sooo much fun to play on bass!
It sounds like it! did this group go on to the Bellstars?
@@gewglesux I do know that the Selectors Pauline Black went on to be lead singer of The Bell Stars

Amazing band such a pity they never did an album.
great band the bodysnatchers didnt get the credit they deserved
Adrian Symcox they got rid of the lead singer and became a new wave band. The lead singer joined the special aka.

MC Escher that is Ska music not Mod.
Which the Mod Revival of late 70's early 80's adopted.
