DO NOT MESS WITH A CLASSIC. Unless you're Bad Manners. Then you can do whatever you want, and come out on the other side safely. Great version. Thank you for posting.
This is the video and song that introduced me to the band. After this I got curious, bought an album, and became a life long fan. That was in the late 80s.
"The singer MILLIE SMALL has died on May 5th at the age of 73. Best known for her 1964 recording of "My Boy Lollipop" - which peaked at UK #2 in May of that year, & remains one of the biggest-selling ska songs of all time."
It's my B-Day, 3 years of age when she died. I was born 5:30 am and all I remember was that I was singing Elton John's SKYLINE PIGEON during those times. May bee she didn't really passed away but lived on with the music
3/5/2023 I was 10 in 1964 & I went nuts for this song! Played the grooves off my 45. 1964 also gave me/the world The Beatles. Millie Small was my into to Jamaican music, which caused me to fall in love with Bob Marley when I first heard him around 1969 (I was a Hippie by the. Great times! Ganja Rasta! ✌️) He was still very much alive then..🤗 The 6Os was a GREAT decade. The next GREAT decade - the 80s - brought me ROCKSTEADY, SKA, TWO TONE, etc, via #KROQ in LA, CA. What fun! ~~ I'm saddened to learn Millie Small died. Her song always puts a smile on my face & i will always be grateful for that. RIP Millie Small, thank you for sharing your gift of talent. ❤️🌹
Barbie Gaye - My Boy Lollipop (1956) The Original Millie Small - My Boy Lollipop (1964) The Best Bad Manners - My Girl Lollipop (1982) The Most Cheerful
Would you know why I can't find the un-remixed version of My Girl Lollipop by Bad Manners. All MP3's I find are the remix version. The remixed versions don't sound like the original release from 1982.
I can imagine. In one month in the 80's I saw The English Beat AND The Stray Cats. People started dancing all over the place, and the audience was only pursuaded to go home when management informed us that, like Elvis, the bands had left the building. God, what I'd give to be 25 for one day and catch them on a double-bill concert :) Peace, love and sharing joints with strangers ...
Buster Bloodvessel is from Hackney where I was born and raised...he is awesome..he went to Woodbury Down School...awesome I love him..he aint dead..>just reevaluating things.. getting together with Bad Manners
Alison Jones & I have just got back from watching him perform at the Havering Town Show, Harow Lodge Park, Hornchurch, Essex, (August Bank Holiday Monday, 2015, U.K) a very good time we had. Douglas Trendle, better known as Buster Bloodvessel, is an English singer and the frontman of the ska revival band Bad Manners. His stage name was taken from the bus conductor played by Ivor Cutler in the Beatles' 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour. Born: September 6, 1958 (age 56), London Borough of Hackney
My Brother wrote this song it was called my Boy Lollipop before Millie sang it on TOTP My brother passed away in the late 60s his stage name was wolf Montgomery he also had a band under the name Deek Rivers and the Big Sound
tried to see these at a local pub last weekend but wasn't allowed in as the hosts wouldn't let anyone in under 18 :( still a great band and managed to get a glimpse of Buster!
I like the band, and the singer I know from Michelin Tyres. He even looks like my Kwqk Flt chief mechanic who serviced my Civic. Greetings from the atlantis from Holland; Flevoland
My late mum loved this song to the point I done a cd with this one after another about 20 times and she used to dance around her kitchen with my eldest daughter in her arms to this song brings so many happy memories wish she was still here
These videos just bring back my childhood and he was a funny guy in that white boiler suit he made me laugh especially when I watch the special brew video lol 😆😂🤣😂😆🍻🍻🍻🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Brad Ley I see your Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and raise you Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, etc. Pretty much the pantheon of great American artists. To imply that Americans haven't made their fair share of classic music is patently absurd. Hell, The Stones, Beatles, Bluesbreakers et al wouldn't have existed without Muddy Waters or Chuck Berry. Get educated, man.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
Love seeing Bad Manners sing this live. The whole arena bounces.
My dad was in this video right at the end. I really miss him , he passed 2014, his best friend in this video too RIP
I'm sorry
Was he chubby? Give you kiss
You mean the lead singer?
May he rest in peace.
Wow, this is a nostalgia trip back to my youth. Great stuff. Love it.
Busta is hilarious, we get nothing like this anymore, total party music
I look forward to the next big swing to see what happens and what people make.
DO NOT MESS WITH A CLASSIC. Unless you're Bad Manners. Then you can do whatever you want, and come out on the other side safely. Great version. Thank you for posting.
Correct - keep it my GIRL not my BOY...
Ein Song, der so froehlich ist und zu meinem Leben einfach gehört. 😊 😂🎉❤
This is the video and song that introduced me to the band. After this I got curious, bought an album, and became a life long fan. That was in the late 80s.
Buster Bloodvessel, tongue like a yard od dirty staircarpet. Brilliant!!!!!!

Buster Bloodvessel, what a magnificent man.
Barbie Gaye - My Boy Lollipop (1956) The Original
Millie Small - My Boy Lollipop (1964) The Best
Bad Manners - My Girl Lollipop (1982) The Most Cheerful
Would you know why I can't find the un-remixed version of My Girl Lollipop by Bad Manners. All MP3's I find are the remix version. The remixed versions don't sound like the original release from 1982.
The original was "My Girl Lollypop" by the Cadillacs. It was written by Robert Spencer of the Cadillacs
@@markxxx21 True, but the song was first recorded in 1956 by Barbie Gaye.
@@pern1044 the original seems to be the 7" single version whilst the remix was featured on the album.

Awesome music from an era that I'd love to live in
It's from the 60s. This is a cover.
