As a previous Kia/Hyundai owner, that 10,000 mile 10 year warranty doesn’t mean much if the dealerships won’t honor them. They always find excuses to not cover something trust me
That's bc a lot of Hyundai/Kia owners are terrible with oil changes, abusing their cars. If you bring a car with sludge in the engine bc you didn't do an oil change in 10k miles, they're not going to honor the warranty.
About 3500 miles into a 2023 Limited Hybrid version (same engine and hybrid system and different styling and interior). I'm loving it so far, getting between 50-52 mpg in real world usage.
I had 55k miles on a ‘21 Sonata hybrid Limited and now have 30k on my ‘23. Neither one has seen the dealer since both in my area screwed up oil changes so I now do them myself. Fortunately, neither car has had anything wrong with it that required the dealer.

Dear Ahmed Fantastic Revue I bought my Sonata Limited April 2024. This so far has been a wonderful car. Mileage is great, you can drive it and get the advertised MPG. I agree with most of your comments, I have come to like the shifter, looks to me are great. I like the refresh and get a lot of comments. This is my 3rd Hyundai and really no complaints. I would recommend this car to anybody thinking of a sedan. Love the technical part of your revue
The only real problems with owning a Hyundai are the horrible dealer experiences, the refusal to honor warranties, and the long wait for replacement engines. Nice paint, though.
Shop around, different dealers, different experience. I have had a crap experience at one dealership and a wonderful experience less than 10 miles away at another.
This is so true, its one thing to deal with Hyundai/kia short comings but its another to deal with the dealership who do not take seriously or are overworked from all the issues so many customers are dealing with. I do not want another hyundai because of how many issues i have with the dealership.

I used to work in auto insurance. Nothing depreciates like a Hyundai/Kia. But my brother has a Kia Optima with just under 200K miles and it’s still running.
for the old 2016 Sonata hybrid the hybrid belt change costed 1200 USD. You need to change this rubber belt every 5 years. Timing belt gone and this belt now. Not for me anymore. I don't want any rubber belts in the engine compartment anymore as most can be done via electric motors.
I like the shifter. Twist forward to drive, twist back to reverse. It is pretty logical. If you have experience operating different type of vehicles, like planes, forklifts etc., you will appreciate this paradigm. Great review. I've owned 2011 Sonata Limited for 8 years. Perfect experience, with regular maintenance. I would not mind driving this one. I agree about too busy exterior choices.

The front looks nice, but the rear is a bit busy. I think this beats the catfish face any day. Hyundai has improved so much over the years. A good, unique and efficient hybrid system, going more upscale, new software and interior design is beautiful, and they have great materials and isolation for the segment. Very glowing review from a Toyota Master Tech like you, so it is great to see you being unbiased and giving props to Toyota's competitor.
You hit the nail on the head sir! The engine is what matters the most then the transmission and this new car has some of the best going in the segment.
I'm not a big fan of Sonata BUT I've got to congratulate Hyundai for changing the front end & headlights on this car best improved design look on a car ever because the '23 front end looked hideous Now it actually looks better than the Accord a car I've bought many times
I totally agree! it is a shame because I have looked at many offerings specifically from Hyundai but could never go beyond looking because I HATE their approach to reliability. Redesign every few years and leave the past customers in the dust after the bare minimum reliability with their reputation in my opinion
Old school method to know the speed limit: read the road sign. What a concept! I think we are relying too much on tech to do things that we should be doing with our eyes. '... keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel.' The Doors, Roadhouse Blues.
A great deal of time spent on the "looks" of the car which is a purely subjective opinion. The actual info on the mechanics, overall quality and the interior is in his wheelhouse. Subtract his opinions on the exterior of the car (subjective) the Sonata got a damn good review from him.
I agree about the shifter. When I saw you shift into Drive, my first thought was turning it that way should be for Reverse. My Mercedes has a very simple lightweight lever that is either moved up for Reverse or down for Drive, because historically that's how it would have operated. Something else that doesn't make sense is to me is, I don't see why Hyundai needs a shift stalk at all when all it has is a twist knob on the end of it. I can't see buying this version as I think when they release a new Sonata the low points of this car will have been updated.
Up in Canada - we don't get this model which I think surprised everyone. They said the Elantra Hybrid suited that piece of the market better - which is not totally unreasonable - as they said the Elantra's front seating area is almost identical to the Honda Accord - not so (by a larger margin) in the back seat BUT still a good amount of room for most. Also, it puts like $10,000 back into your pocket (we only get the deluxe Elantra Hybrid here as well).
Amd, I love the new "recording studio garage" but I miss seeing the actual shop! What happened to the Supra with the engine that you could never get back from the machine shop? How about a shop update video from time to time? Absolutely love these videos.. you really "get into the weeds" on the technical side, and one thing I'm coming to the conclusion on with all these manufacturers chasing government emission regulations is that I hate how over complicated and expensive cars are becoming.
If you run the car and accidentally touch reverse the car bring you a notification! And make a sound , for reverse you have to run a 2mph for changing between Drive and Reverse! Hyundai engineering! Like honda putting on the detail's ! Need to explore more for the mark! For EXAMPLE change the wiper blades! It's has a great 👍🏻 Easter 🐣 bunny to make you easy way! You prees the engine start button to de acc! Only without pressing the brake pedal! You raise the wiper lever, keeping it up for three seconds and the wipers will move from a horizontal position to be replaced, like other things that Hyundai's the best brand has☆ ..
The dish rag looking dash in camry turned me off. Once some small kid wipes his dirty little hands on that dash cloth in camry, it will become an eyesore.
I'll take the N-Line, the wheels are the rest of the trims look dinky. If you look at the early models from the 50's up their auto gear selectors we're honestly similar.
I do agree that Hyundai over designs these cars sometime. I think it’s cool at first but it does lose its cool factor when you’re looking at it everyday. But I do like it better than their previous design

@@josephalvarez4609 I’m glad to hear you like it so far. I really hope the Car Nut will do a review to answer our questions
I'm not a big fan of Sonata BUT
I've got to congratulate Hyundai for changing the front end & headlights on this car best improved design look on a car ever because the '23 front end looked hideous
Now it actually looks better than the Accord a car I've bought many times
Dude you deserve over 1 million subscribers!
Best reviews on cars
Way to go Ahmed!!! Great job buddy!!
Hyundai/Kia cars are stylish and good performers IMHO. It's just too bad they're lacking in the reliability and customer service departments.
I totally agree! it is a shame because I have looked at many offerings specifically from Hyundai but could never go beyond looking because I HATE their approach to reliability. Redesign every few years and leave the past customers in the dust after the bare minimum reliability with their reputation in my opinion
Yeah but sonata hybrid hasn’t had any recalls since 2022 and even he says this hybrid system is really great
As a Mazda owner, I can tell you the service department customer service is wack and terrible. Maybe it's just because I am in New York
"Stylish?" Mmm-k.
Did you watch the video before commenting about reliability?
Old school method to know the speed limit: read the road sign. What a concept! I think we are relying too much on tech to do things that we should be doing with our eyes. '... keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel.' The Doors, Roadhouse Blues.
You obviously have never gone through a speed trap town at night😂
My 2019 sonata had the power truck too, really liked how easy it was!
Hyundai took out their spare tire to reduce weight to increased the MPG. You can still get one but its a expensive accessories.
Don't have to buy it from them can pick one up cheaper some where else or at a salvage yard for cheap
pAL where have you been 90% of new cars do not have spares anymore... When's the last time you got a flat tire in your car I will be waiting
@@johntclunie I had a nail in my tire two days ago.
@@joebrown9621 I work in the parts department at Hyundai. I always quote them but people rarely buy them.
@@sanhuynh5435 Hyundai cars come with an air compressor, so all you need to do is get yourself a tire plug kit.
OMG Thank you so much, im planning on buying this and i was hoping for you to review it
Research reliability of this manufacturer before you commit.
I'd go for a Camry or an Accord myself.
Impressive but how could you trust Hyundai given their history?
I actually prefer the catfish face of the last Gen lol but everything else exterior wise looks better to me.
I liked the old design much better
Yeah. I love his reviews because long term ownership matters
You’re one of my favorite car experts.
Beautiful car, I wish Hyundai would bring it to my country.
what country?
@@bluepoint4342 Colombia, we've a strong Hyundai presence but for some reason the Sonata has been forgotten since like 2012
Keep up the work. Its not just the car videos, but education.
Pretty envious of American folks for their options; in Canada, Hyundai doesn't provide any hybrid version of this. Thanks for the review, Ahmed.
Way better interior than the Camry, by far.
The dish rag looking dash in camry turned me off. Once some small kid wipes his dirty little hands on that dash cloth in camry, it will become an eyesore.
@@bwest-yq3ucGo for XSE then...
That interior is horrendous in the Camry same with the Accord kind of an embarrassment.. turn the lights stuck in 1980...
The Hyundai Sonata is hideous looking🤮
I'm glad my 2022 doesnt have that separate key thing. Mine is still inside the fob.
I hate when you have to remove fuel or cooling components to replace a valve cover. I always try to avoid disturbing systems unnecessarily
Loving my 2023 Camry V6 XSE...Even more !
Loving my Camry se 2011 with 205k mile on it
Es350 owner here love my 3.5 na v6
2007 camry v6 XLE with 110,000km here
If I needed a car the Camry V6 would get my $.
Yeah if you like the interior from 1980 with a bunch of cheap plastic dials... So that whole car is like stuck in 1980..
2025 Camry has quite a few things that dropped in quality. I will still only trust a hybrid if it is a Toyota but you do get great value with this car.
What things dropped in quality?
@@alvinsimba734 a lot more plastic parts and scandals with airbags and faked mileage tests. Overall, the quality has gone down. It's not surprising bc most cars are used only for 3 to 10 years.
@@trex1448 plastics are bread and butter for Toyota for many generations, as they are produced for masses. Plastics can take a beating and my 2020 LE which I will review next year you will see
You should still be able to drive a new Camry 15-20 years and rack up 200.000 + miles without a major repair.
@@alvinsimba734 A car at that price point shouldn't feel like a shitbox. Toyota literally has softex as a material that withstands wear and tear. It's a dumb excuse for 2024.
Hi brother. Can you do Mitsubishi cars also? I would like to know your opinion on the over all quality of Mitsubishi. And it would be a fun video. Thanks
Can you compare the cons and pros between accord hybrid, camry hybrid and sonata hybrid ?
Can anyone update how much it costs to replace the hybrid synergy belt these days? also, how often we need to replace? I like Hyundai but had a bad experience with the rubber belt before.
Wow that feature that shuts the electronic sustem down to protect the car from parasidic draw is very neat....and concerning from a Hyundai product, as if theyre expecting such issues in the future.
This video should be titled, “A lot Going On.”
I don't agree with you on the futuristic looks being a negative point. If it looks like something coming from the future, it will stay modern for much longer time...McLaren F1 _ just an example that comes to my mind _ is a 24 years old design and yet it still holds up even by today standards.
The design looks more retro than futuristic IMO. It seems to have a really nice blend of both.
The non Hybrid is way better. it offers a bigger engine & 8 speed transmission
plus it's cheaper & less complex.
I think you should show the headlights and taillights while they are on instead of off
Got to love the counter intuitive Nokia phone inspired shifter.
The design looks fantastic....a huge leap forward.
great insights!!...a short driving review would also be appreciated
I would like to see your review with the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine and the regular torque-converter 8 speed transmission.
Hey! I've commented the same thing glad am not alone
Although if you search his channel by kia and hyundai you might find another car with the same engine, its popular
is there a video on the hyundai 2.5 Litre engine? I have a the same model Sonata but different Engine
😅 that shifter looks like it will break Off if my toddler gets behind the wheel.. he like flicking the wiper and indicator.. that key fobe is something else 😅 should have been redsigned for the refresh.. i do like the side view
Gotta love those "Ishes"
Like the new into, very sleek. Old one was dated.
Call your insurance agent before even considering one. Some companies were refusing to insure them because of high theft rates. That might have changed by now but be sure.
I believe the belt and tensioner of that hsg system should be looked at every 60k miles since it might get loose
Another excellent video! Thanks so much for covering this vehicle! I'd love to see a video on the refreshed Elantra N!
I really hope you do the new Honda Odyssey when it comes out in the fall, would like to see some more Honda from you in general - would really like to hear your analysis!
Same guy who designed the air intake designed the exhaust
In Canada 🇨🇦 there is a class action lawsuit against Hyundai and kia
They could've / should've used the in-line electric motor to also start the engine. Put a clutch both sides of the motor. Honda did this in the hybrid Accord many years ago.
It looks much nicer inside than the 2025 Camry.
Hyundais always do.
AMD, It was in the news today that the Altima will soon be exiting the mid-size sedan market with its tail between its legs. I wonder how long the Sonata will be around. 🤔
Altima might get another generation as a hybrid
@@chezzyperson3339 sonata is another bread and butter for Hyundai. Sonata, Elantra, and Tucson. Highly doubt they’re getting rid of it. Almost every gen has sonata
Literally in Korea a lot of things are backwards. Like light switches.
Which hybrid sedan is the best? Toyota Camry (new 2025 model), Honda Accord, or Hyundai Sonata?
can you do bronco review? and the raptor lines? (f-150, ranger, bronco)
a slight resemblance as the Toyota crown
Ahmed, There is a saying about all engineered "things" . When you design, you must design function Before form or it will not work as intended, so Form must follow Function or the design will fail. or fall short. This is why Toyota maintains its enviable position (or did) I blame Computers because they can style instantly but they lack the love of Clay
Great review as always! Hyundai’s look great for a year or two but you are correct that the designs don’t age well.
Awesome review! Would love for you to review the new Elantra N
