Yeah even things lie the type of oil it takes. Oil changes are gonna be real expensive, and it’s every 3-5k miles so it does add up. I really like the new design but I might go previous gen and save some money since I’m getting a Camry within a few months.

it may not be the case for any new car to think this as you used to be able to on the older ones. there's parts engineered beyond reliability like the plastic valve cover. in 15 years the valve cover will be prone to cracking if you push on it too hard. I'm sure heat from oil and pressure in the head will work that out itself too.

I’m still driving my 2010 gas Camry which I bought brand new. This car has never missed an oil change, and it gets its rust proofing yearly. This car has never given me any trouble and it will quite possibly be the last car I own…yes I’ve installed a rear camera and remote car starter…I drive with my eyes open so who needs the lane sensors?
The only thing to give out on this car was the gas struts for the hood..it opens fine, but won’t stay up.. so I use a stick to keep it propped open and the auxiliary channel is no longer working on the stereo

These 10+ year old Camry's are still fun to drive! Our purchased new '11 with 134,000 miles on it is garaged, regular 5,000 mile oil changes, a radiator, belts and hoses, tires, and a $20 driver visor replaced. It has been on several coast to coast road trips and performs flawlessly at highway speeds. With little pressure on the gas pedal it accelerates from 65MPH to 80MPH to get around semi's hogging the middle lane on the interstates. Our aftermarket Kenwood entertainment screen provides apple CarPlay without a removable tablet looking screen on the newer Camry's. Sounds like if this '11 ever fails we will have a great option with the new Camry's! I also love my struts on the hood, and have asked the Toyota dealers that I have visited for oil changes, if they would put the struts on for free to sell me a new Camry - their response = YES!

I've had my 2025 Camry XSE AWD in black for about a month. It's been an amazing car. Drives smooth. Sport mode gives it a jolt - plenty of power. Adaptive cruise is awesome. Interior looks impressive and materials feel high quality. EV mode in parking lots and quiet residential areas is great - using it way more than I thought. Looks low-key money in black with black badges IMO. I thought the gas mileage would be a bit better. If you drive like an angel it's great. But drive somewhat aggressive, it gets less impressive. Overall I'm so happy I bought one. I enjoy driving and looking at it. On top of that, my dealer got me the "dealer demo" so I was one of the first in Canada to take delivery of a 2025 Camry XSE AWD. I just changed the oil and filter last month on my 2024 Corolla (at 2937 miles) and the oil came within two days of me ordering it on the Walmart website. I'm fine with a hood prop rod. It doesn't break and require new struts every few years. Sometimes simple is better.

0W-8 has been in use in Japan for a few years now. It was only recently (within six months) approved for use in the US. Many of your recent engines sold in North America requiring 0W-16 are actually designed to run on 0W-8, but were vetted for compatibility with 0W-16 in the North American market. Because of the recent approval, it's taking some time for the oil manufacturers to put together a 0W-8 oil for North American markets, get them certified, and put them on the market. Over the next six months, I suspect we'll see them become more common on the shelves at auto parts stores. :)

    • @4af
      @4af 6 місяців тому

"designed to run on 0W-8" does not mean engine life will be optimized running oil that thin. Outside of the USA, Toyota owners manuals tell owners they can use 10W-30 even if their owners manual says 0W-8 is the factory fill oil.

I would say go and drive each one and decide. 0 to 60 time is not significantly different between the two. But fuel economy is almost double on the hybrid. So you'd have to decide what you value more. Slight bump in 0 to 60 for double the cost of operations?
I would say if you don't drive that much or just the average amount most Americans do it probably isn't such a big deal. But if you do a whole lot of city driving particularly the hybrid is going to definitely pay dividends. If you do a whole lot of long distance highway travel it will make less difference. Friend of mine has the previous generation V6 Camry and he averages low mid-30s at highway speeds.

Thank you for the honest review. Sounds like the Camry is still a great car technically, with several annoying quirks that older generations did not have, and several downgrades over the previous versions. I guess we passed the peak of best cars ever made, not just with the Camry. Glad they're still focusing on reliability, that's most important to Toyota buyers like me. That said, the Camry XLE now costs almost twice as much as what I paid for my 2014.5 Camry XLE, and just about the same as what I paid for my 2022 Avalon XLE, so you are absolutely correct that prices are getting out of control. Maybe a hood prop like in my 1993 Corona was put back in the 2021/2025 because I'm guessing that a hood prop is lighter than the 2 gas struts. The gas struts will eventually pack up too. I just traded in my 2012 SE for a 2025 SE. From 4cylinder to 4cylinder+hybrid+AWD, An increase in 60HP and an increase in 20mpg average.
It's reliable, it's not crazy expensive, it's not a cop magnet.. The Camry is the ultimate goldilocks car.

A year ago, I picked up an 05 Camry LE, and I love the simplicity, and smooth ride. New cars, and I'm assuming that includes new Camrys, are over-complicated so you never understand half the features, and tend to ride harshly. I had a Corolla rental recently and thought the ride was brutal, compared to the old ones.
It's getting to where it's better to keep fixing old ones rather than buy the new ones.

I have a 2020 CamrySE Night Shade, 5k oil changes religiously, 0-16 for winter months, 0-20 in summer. Always use Amsoil, 70k miles so far, never an issue.
I’m planning for at least 270k miles.
    Change you oil folks
Only thing I ever needed in this car is Brake pads. 👍
I average 41 miles per gallon at 70MPH, with cruise control. ⛽️

Disagree, warmer weather the heavier grade is more protective.
The thinner oil rating are for fuel EPA ratings that manufacturers have to abide by.
0-20 will flow just as well through oil passages as 0-16.
And now, with 90+ degree temps, I’m glad for the 0-20, and yet I get over 40 MPG
For winter start ups, of course go back to 0-16, And “100%” Synthetic Amsoil, not the “full” synthetic crap you get at Walmart, there is a difference.
