- Almost a week after the terrorist attack on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall killed more than 130 concert-goers and injured scores of others, the blame game continues to spiral.
While a branch of ISIS was quick to claim responsibility and four suspects from Tajikistan were arrested, the Kremlin has been spinning a narrative in which Ukraine, the US, and the UK were involved in the operation.
The presenter of Russian state television’s popular 60 minutes program and MP for President Putin’s United Russia party, Yevgeny Popov, shares his perspective on the Moscow Crocus attack and current situation with Al Arabiya English’s Riz Khan.

Interviewers should just ask questions and nothing else. For one thing they are generally not knowledgable or have conducted thorough investigations themselves on the matter at hand and not make any judgemental statements or parrot any narrative or trying to lecture. They must show proper, sincere respect.
Over an hour to respond and a police station on the same site as the attack, with a weapon room, nobody in Russia asking why so long.

If you’re speaking of terrorist captured and held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, it’s because my country doesn’t extend legal protections to anyone that commits acts of terrorism unless they’re on US territory, and even then it’s because of how our laws are framed.. which is why they’re kept in a foreign country at a black site prison..
However, we’re not perfect and our history is just as bad as any other country, but we’ve progressed through the years and we do refrain from killing non combatants and civilians. Even though we’re not allies with Russia, we still don’t want innocent Russian civilians murdered. That’s why the US intelligence officials warned Moscow. The US has nothing to gain from killing innocent people inside Russia. As far as Ukraine possibly having anything to do with this, it’s very unlikely. Here’s why… 1, Ukraine killing unarmed civilians will violate nato and EU humanitarian laws and will cause a forfeiture of aid in their desperate hour. 2, Ukrainian soldiers and Russian resistance fighters have been in Russia blowing up oil refineries for a time now without killing innocent civilians.. so why would they now? And that far north?.. Their attacks that far north have up to this point only been drone attacks on oil and gas infrastructure. They recently took Belgorod without killing any civilians. It was Putin that eventually bombed belgorod after his spetnaz was wiped out.. Seriously, Russians should start using common sense rather than listen to complete bullshit propaganda from their authoritarian masters.. One small detail….Russian security is present in all public gatherings. They were told to stand down…. Security was told to wait until they escaped. Their car was in the middle of the entrance lanes. Well done Yevgeny for standing your ground against questions from a reporter who evidently was pro-western, always trying to find a way to pick fault with Russia. The interviewer just didn't stop trying to belittle Russia and paint them in a bad light.
May I point out to the reporter that The US has a torture centre called Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, where water boarding was praised as a very good method the obtain information by ex-US President George Walker Bush. Inmates are kept there without trial and have to sit in strained positions for long hours. Forced sexual degradation (male-on-male) is used as are electric shocks. Would this reporter like to comment?
