    I believe you have just helped me solve my pain problem. Have been running for years, 30plus miles a week. Loved it but had to quit about 10 years ago due to sciatica and now chronic low back and hip pain. Have exchanged running, for walking and biking. I am grateful for your presentation today as I believe you may have just given me a clue into the problem which means now I can begin to heal it. Thank you soo.....much!!!

      For the biking did you get a seat set up, to help with your hip arthritis?

    So glad to have found your video... I used to run marathons, but stopped a few years ago due to an increasing sharp pain in my right buttock area. After review of a hip CT, I was told I had degenerative hip arthritis, but my doctor could not confirm it was due to running. He recommended I find new form of exercise. I desperately miss running. Your video has given me hope that I may be able to run again without causing extensive permanent damage to my hip. Thank you!

    A very welcome video to watch, making me realize it's not the end of the world after having been diagnosed with moderate OA. Running for many years now. I want many more.

    Thank you so much for your clarity :) I have noticed an inflammation with my right hip a new sensation and as a new runner for nearly one year I feel it may be the affects of early arthritis but this video has inspired me to keep running and not worry about it yet keep an eye on how it feels and most certainly seek a physiotherapist in the future if I need it. Thank you for putting my mind at ease. x

    I am recovering from a meniscus knee surgery so now lack of exercise is giving me pain in my hips and of course my knee. It's now 3 1/2 weeks since surgery and my knee is still extremely painful, and lack of exercise is now effecting my hips. I will see a PT next week, but now I need stretches like yours to control the bloody pain. Thanks for this and maybe something to ease the pain in my Rt. knee. I am just miserable. Thanks.

    I was diagnosed with "mild" hip OA in 2011. This ended my running career. I saw 6 physiotherapists, including one a the hospital, but only 2 who I saw privately were effective. It took 1 to 2 years and thousands of dollars plus diligent effort to rehabilitate the hip. I never got back to running and eventually took up cycling in 2018. If you have hip OA just know that you CAN rehab it with high quality Physiotherapy and diligent effort. I doubt you can run on it safely long term, but, maybe soft turf and running up hill at certain paces is sustainable. Personally, I am watching this video because once again I am considering giving it try.

    God will bless you more for taking your time to tell the truth in this video. That was how a doctor distroy my back because he is looking for money to drive range rover sports. I will visit him one day and pay him back

    Thank you. I have mild to moderate osteoarthritis and didn’t even know it. I want to keep running, but I don’t want to accelerate the hip joints’ arthritis any more.

    Really informative video thank you. I have severe oesteo in one hip. With osteophyte inhibiting my rotation - is there anyway to remove the osteophytes? I've been a dancer for 45 years and I've lost quite a bit of movement so I'm really upset about it.

    • @christiepalmer1104
      @christiepalmer1104 6 місяців тому

      Also, I've done quite a lot of running which I want to get back too!

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  6 місяців тому +1

      The only way to remove the osteophyte is through surgery - they can go in and just shave that part to make it smooth again. But it will of course depend on what else is going on.

    I am 31 years old from Kazakhstan with 2 stage coxarthrosis of right hip. Doctors restricted running for me for 100%, but I fill that it helps me. I noticed my problem because of loud cracking in the hip.

    Thanks for the great insights. I found your video because I was looking for information on whether people with severe hip arthritis should avoid jumping or light jogging. I have no weight bearing cartilage in my left hip since six years ago but have been managing my hip with stretching and strengthening (no surgery yet). Last week I did a five minute slow jogging on a treadmill in the gym and my hip had a sharp pain when I put weight on it. I was able to do some leg lift and leg curl machine exercises and the pain was gone in ten minutes. Should I continue to do jogging to stimulate the hip joint or avoid it completely? Thanks .

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio
      @SportsInjuryPhysio  2 роки тому +1

      I think cycling, using the cross trainer or elliptical trainer, or swimming may be a better option for you but check with your physio. If the cartilage is totally gone, impact activities aren’t really appropriate.

    Is it possible to contact you? I need some help as I am 47 and have hip osteoarthritis. Its devastated me as I exercise for mental health and very quickly ive gone from extremely active and pain free to not even being able to walk a short distance without sufferring pain all day.

    Could you give me little advice on what you think I might have.
    I started running a lot since the last 6 months. From 0 millage to 60/70k per week.
    I started slow, I do have goo training in CrossFit / gym so my toutes are not weak. I think 🤔
    I got a cramp in my hip one day and then the next run I had it got really bad and now I can’t even go a 5k without it coming again.
    There is a blocked muscle in my calf and I feel also in the back of my glutes.
    I do foam rolling and massage with the ball but it’s not getting better.
    I rested for 1 week and thought it was fine but when I started running again it comes back.
    What you think ?

      It is unlikely - it is more likely that you've just irritated something in your joint.

    • @SportsInjuryPhysio

      It really depends on what part of the joint is affected, how badly it is affected and lots of other factors e.g. running style, terrain, training volume and frequency. Some may not be able to run but others often just have to adjust some variables until they get what works for them.
