I wish I could get my voice back strong again. I used to sing solos in the Choir

Well I don't recommend wishing - I highly recommend working to get your voice back to solo singing!

When I breath in with my belly, tension often increases in the throat. I have to be very conscious so it doesn’t happen.

OR - very unconscious - because every night when you're asleep you breathe with your belly and your throat never tightens.

@@voicelessondotcom So I have to focus on the belly and forget that I have a throat during a song.

@@DenisMorissetteJFK No - focus on staying comfortable more than perfect. The tension in your throat is a response to you trying not to mess up. It would be better to let your throat relax and focus on not over compensating when things don't sound the way you want them to.

Shout-out to my late vocal coach, Paul Rad, who taught me this exercise when I was beginning.

Chin tucked, or can it point upward? The latter feels more comfortable to me but I'm told that's typically poor form.

I'm not going to go against what you were told, but "tucked" isn't good form either. Don't tilt or tuck - a neutral head position is best.

@@voicelessondotcom Thank you very much for the response.
And for anyone else reading, I let my head gently roll side to side to make sure my neck muscles weren't tense, and that seemed to help find a relaxed neutral position.
