- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 2006 Saturn Ion. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I own a 2004 Saturn Ion Coupe 2.2 engine with a 5 speed manual transmission and factory painted...Electric Lime. I purchased "her" new in 2004 as a birthday gift for myself. She presently has 475,495 miles and still going!!!!! The best car I have ever owned in my 52 years of driving. I love my Saturn!! To date I have had to replace the battery, the starter, and the water pump...one time each, some bushings and sway bar links and six sets of tires and of course four sets of brakes in 18 years of owning her. I would say that's pretty incredible!!! Again...I have to say....I love 💘 my Saturn!

I actually have a 2007 Saturn Ion and its actually pretty awesome. It gets HELLA good gas mileage and hasn't caused me a problem yet. I have the five speed manual version. As far as regular cars go, I love the thing.
This is really nice for someone whos looking to buy a used car and doesnt want to get the idiot treatment from a dealer, I can check out the car without even getting up, thanks man.

+Donsburt I don't think so, man. I have a very clean, very cherry '03 Saturn Ion Level 3 (loaded). NADA & KBB show this car as being dang near worthless.

Summer 2018. I own 2006 ION new when purchased. Love the car. 94,500 miles. GM made a huge mistake to drop the line. Saturn was a division of GM. So very sad to see it gone. Thank you

I just donated my 1994 Saturn SL2 this past weekend. It needed a large brake job and I just didn't want to put any more money into it. The car was still running well though. I still have a 2005 Saturn ion and love the car.

I had a 2005 Saturn ion with 260k+ and still ran excellent.
I have a 2007 level 3. I drove from Nashville to Cincinnati in early November and got somewhere around 40mpg. I wish it had a moonroof, though...
My 2003 Saturn Ion is my winter car. It's parked in the back. I'll licence it shortly.
In the last 4 months 2 young guys offered to buy it from me.
I got it for free and fixed it up for about $500. That was 5 or 6 years ago.
I can see where a guy was around it.
I changed the ignition control module from a junk yard $40 (it came to me in a dream) plus a starter $25. Then tires & general maintenance. I change oil frequently 5/30 Pennzoil Synthetic.

I have the exact same ion. Over 100k miles and yes I had to do some repairs but mechanically speaking it's been throught hell and back and just keeps going. Love it not getting rid of it.

I still drive a 2007 daily. Had it for almost 13 years. Not many issues either. Five speed not bad.
I dont know why people say so many bad things about Saturn, it was the best GM car ever made, I like them better than Dodge and Chrysler too. I have the 2004 Saturn Ion, I wont trade it in or sell it until its dead. Its a great car and should last a while.
What’s the max miles you think this car can go?
@@2wav3yant I believe some had them last about 200,000 miles and up. Take care of it and have oil changes on time and it should be running for a while.
I Have an 04 ion-2 five speed, its had full internals, exhaust system on 18s its a little rocket bro. This has been an awsome ride

Nice car,I have a 2006 Ion with manual transmission 136000 miles on it.No major repairs.Its the best of the cars I've owned in my driving life.Its sad that they dumped Saturn,with their set price no pressure approach.The rest of the industry could learn buy it.
Unfortunately these cars were hit hard in the 2013 ignition recall scandal.. great cars though
Oh yeah they were great cars for people who just got there license, mine is an 07’ and she runs like a top.
It was essentially problem free after we got the ignition system replaced

This car really isnt that bad, I have the 2004 version, its a good car, I dont know why people say bad things about it. Its a car and it does what it should, it gets you to where you need to go safely and its reliable. Also good on gas milage

I have a 2006 Saturn Ion with 105,000mi, love the car never had a problem with it.
@GOOD son BAD son I sold my Ion back in March of 2014 for a 2014 Ford Fiesta which I owned til 2018 when I got side swiped by someone that ran a red light.

@Sidney Grove Me personally with that amount of miles for only $2,821 no I wouldn't buy it because when I bought my Saturn Ion 7yrs ago the AC never worked when I bought it and I had it replaced for $350 and it still didn't work. I would steer clear of that car don't buy something that already has problems because there might be more to it.

I have a 2006 Saturn ion and its not bad at all. When people say they hate it they actually think of the ones from early 2000s. Saturns have gotten better over the years. People also don't like Saturns because they are used to everything being a normal car. This is a unique car and people shouldn't hate on it when they haven't even drove one. I know people are entitled to their opinion but do your homework first.

These cars are nice. In my opinion, the coupe models are cooler. Seeing those small rear suicide doors open on an Ion Coupe is a trip.

The Ion came before the Cobalt, I had a 2007 Ion Redline. I miss the center gauges, you can always see them and don't have to look down to check speed etc.

Believe it or not I was blessed with a 2007 Saturn ion with only 51,000 miles on it in 2022 everything works too and is brand new
@Dalit5 It's pretty good. Great ride, sound system and comfort level. Only complaints are that the back seat's a little small and some interior and exterior craftsmanship seems a little weak in my opinion. It's definitely worth the price you can find them for now, though. If you've got money to spend, I'd probably look elsewhere. Good luck!

The 2004 version had a weird steering wheel, but the 2006 one has that traditional Pontiac-Saturn one. The radios were different, and the gauges were slightly different. I personally prefer the 2006 because of the better-looking steering wheel (:

I have an Ion quad coupe 3, I'ts a pretty good car especially on gas! only 75,000 miles on it and still runs like new. not the best car around but I like it!

thanks Kyle :) thats a Saturn IOn3 :) because the fogs lighs and the velet trim, the IOn2 just has regular seats, the 2005-07 are nicer then my 03 also that IOn might have a 2.4 @170hp it depends though
We used to have a 2007 Ion, fully loaded. Nice car. We replaced it with a 2012 Chevy Traverse 1LT in 2012.

Just a question, are those center gauges actually useful? Does it give you a less restricted view of the road, and can you easily see them without taking your eye off of whats in front of you? Basically... are they better then normally located gauges lol

Why do some auto companies put the gauge cluster in the middle of the dash? I don't understand that.
I heard that back when GM closed Oldsmobile it was between them or Saturn. Can't believe they got to stay open over Olds.

@saabkyle04 yes i do thaats interesting confiuration to that 06 since it suppose to have onstar? with the different mirror, and usally Ion3s would come with the 6 speakers with amp in truck, still like the car though, i am trying to get the the 05-07 seats for my 03 Ion since i like them better them my seats so i need to go junk yard hunting agian again :D
Thing is I like this car I think it's nice and could be a goo used car for someone who needs to get from a to be but the gage (not the best at spelling) slightly bothers me but I also like the little funky feeling of it

i have a 2006 ion 2 with the 2.2 liter and its fun do drive on a good road and gets tail happy on gravel but ive had reliability problems, ive had to replace the starter solenoid and the gas peddle assembly and i have it in the shop again because it has ceased up AGAIN. its a fun car, plain and practical but im only at 88000 so im thinking of selling it and ant going Toyota again oh and i have not sen very good gas millage as compared to my old echo or some

This car gets a lot of hate for something as simple as a BTSI solenoid (easy to bypass and is one of the most annoying things as it keeps the key stuck in ACC running down the battery) but i got this car last year and all i've ever had to do is change the oil. it's a great little car.
@Sidney Grove Mine had the timing chain guide failure (caused a P0300 generic misfire code) but I've never had O2 sensor codes (but O2 sensors are often the standard cause of a check engine light, makes the engine run rich). This can can get 37MPG highway if all that is fixed. O2 sensor codes are not 'bad' (many folks drive with the check engine light on no matter what) but you'll definitely lose gas mileage and foul out spark plugs.
