Kenol to Marua Road Construction Updates Sept 2023. Amazing Progress

- AfDB lifts suspension on Sh16bn Kenol-Marua road project
AfDB has closed a case filed against the Chinese firm dualling Kenol-Sagana-Marua Road, averting further delays in the completion of the Sh16.7 billion project.The project that started in October 2020 is part of the Great North Road, a pan-African artery connecting Cairo and Cape Town, which in Kenya runs from Namanga to Moyale through Nairobi.
Residents had sought AfDB’s intervention after the county governments along the project line, the Chinese firm and the National Environmental Management Authority failed to address their complaints.
“The Contractor’s actions violate our rights and cause environmental harm to the community. We implore the Bank to intervene by investigating our concerns and ensuring that the Contractor acts in compliance with Bank policies and procedures,” the residents said in a letter to AfDB.
Expansion of the road is part of efforts by the Kenyan and Ethiopian governments to deepen mutual trade relations and make it easier for the Horn of Africa nation to access Kenya’s port facilities.
The Ethiopian government had earlier said that the road will offer a cheaper route to import goods using Mombasa Port, compared to a port in Djibouti.

The whole project is actually from Kenol to Isiolo a distance of 219 km that's supposed to be dualled! This section from Kenol to Marua that's 84 KM long is actually the first phase! Then the second phase will be from Marua to Isiolo a distance of 135 km! Did you know about that?

@@decoloniz_afro what a stupid comment. Taxpayer money, yes, but it takes a manager to put it where it matters most or in projects that will have short and long term consequences. Hii ya kula mchele na nyama, isn’t still taxpayers money, but at what cost? Most road projects that were began by Uhuru have stalled or going at slow pace. It is already a year since the Ruto-Gachagua government came into power, but still the narrative is, Uhuru took the money. There is zero change in all aspects and zero progress in major projects.
In fact the project was agreed and signed during Kibaki era

You can now smoothly drive from Nairobi to Lokichogia, to Mandera, to Lamu, to Ethiopia. This is all thanks to 10 years of transformative infrastructure growth under Uhuru. Anything else you would like to add?

I can get in Africa anything I can get in the west or America. Flat screen TV, Playstation, cars , good food , driving in nice roads , get a good job or start a business I can have it all in Africa. What can American offer that Kenyan can't offer ?

You seem to love Sagana more than any other town on that highway. Next time, start from Karatina and then proceed to Marua. Keep the ariel pictures coming and include Mpesa number on the screen for support and gratitude.

Actually you are right about petrol station business coming up all over, some are two minutes from each other and well built like malls and I love it so much, another thing you are right about is charcoal burning in dry area. Yes, you will see charcoal from Turkana, Baringo and some parts of Coast but not charcoal from Kiambu, Nyandarua or Eldoret. Thank you for the good job.
