    We use NIV in our church. I just finished reading the John MacArthur Study Bible which is NASB. Dad reads a daily NLT. We love them all. ☝️✝️❤️

      I too am quite familiar with MacArthur Study Bibles & RC Sproul /Ligonier Study Bibles - wanted this one as comparison away from a Reformed Calvinist perspective to balance out exactly what Gods Word leads me to believe - best of both worlds or what's on both sides of the coin, so to speak - also heard wonderful things for archeology & cultural background found in this one that I will be anxious to dive into.

      It’s a good Bible. It really is. But I don’t know what your stack looks like. If you’ve already got a dozen study Bibles, this one may not be necessity. But if you don’t, it has a Lotta good helps.

    I keep seeing so many good Thomas Nelson NKJV options that I can't make up my mind, and most of those are hard to justify since T/N offers them in decent synthetic options too (the various SCR and Maclarens especially). I got into those but kept avoiding the full premiums because I'd rather make the jump to Schuylers for that price. Now I have a PSQ coming to compare... and now T/N has new goodies coming to stimulate more gimmies.

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, Thomas Nelson is kind of crushing it right now. They are putting out tons of good options and great products.

      @@ClaimingChristianity the typeface really is next level, I think the SCR is within the top 3 I've ever seen. T/N keeps taking different projects slightly different directions but the aggregate is: I think they're gonna take the reins from crossway as industry leader, even the cheap stuff is getting good.

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +1

      I think you’re right here. I’m real interested. while I love Crossway and the ESV is my go to translation…they kinda stopped putting out “different” Bibles. They were going like gang busters for a while there but haven’t seen all the many “new” things for a while.

    Thanks for the review. I'm in the processs of looking for a large Bible. I'm after a big one with colourful pictures / maps, and large font (I'm old). The NKJV Evangelical Study Bible seems to fit my criteria.

    This study bible looks very good. However can you advise me to which NKJV study Bible which includes the Apocrypha. I have been trying to locate one. Thank you

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +2

      Not many to be honest. It’d be something you kinda have to look for. Is there a reason you want the Apocrypha included? Or would a supplemental book work? If you want it included…you may need to go KJV or NRSV.

    • @lilwaynesworld0
      @lilwaynesworld0 Рік тому +1

      The closest you will get is the ESV or RSV further out are the NRSVE or NLT. The NIV and NKJV tend have a strict evangelical base and not very ecumenical I doubt you’ll ever get what your looking for. Of course the KJV has an expanded version but pretty pricy.

    There is no index to all of the in text helps. You just have to stumble across them as you read.

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +1

      Not as typical. There is some information in the table of contents about some of the things that are floating around. But as far as a specific index on each individual note I didn’t see one.

    Hey Steve, great review!
    Just wondering where this one falls doctrinally. Does it lean more Calvinistic or Arminian?
    Thanks!

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +4

      Great question! From what I can see…it kinda does a decent job presenting (in short) more then one view. So I don’t know if I would say it’s strictly “reformed” or “Calvinistic” or “Arminian”. Which I know it’s all that helpful of an answer…but you get more of a broad view..based on the topic.

      @@ClaimingChristianity Thanks for responding.
      Let me ask you this, I currently own the ESV, Reformation, NKJV, CSB, Archaeology, NKJV Word Study, ESV Gospel Transformation, ESV Church History, CSB Apologetics, CSB Ancient Faith, CSB Spurgeon, NASB MacArthur, NET Full Notes, Complete Jewish, Wiersbe, Scofield, study Bibles.
      Do you think there is anything in this one that is missing from these others?

    • @ClaimingChristianity
      @ClaimingChristianity  Рік тому +3

      Nope. Sounds like you have a pretty great stack there. I’d say your next move would be to start collecting “single book” commentaries. Such as John MacArthurs NT set or the NICNT/OT set.

    • @markeggers3416

      @@ClaimingChristianity well I have the Matthew Henry multi volume commentary and a multi volume commentary from John Trapp. So I am probably good in the commentary department.
      I just see new Bibles come out now and wonder if they will have anything that is not already covered by books in my current library. At this point probably not. I do enjoy your reviews Steve! Have you ever thought of reviewing other books on say Systematic Theology or Church History?
      I know you have been studying the Catholic Church in order to evangelize them. I would love to hear of resources you are using for that. I have several Catholics in my life that I would love to have the right tools to work with them.
      Again, thanks for all you do Brother! May God keep you and your family safe and healthy.

    • @ClaimingChristianity

      I have thought about it. Because I have a couple of Systematic Theology‘s that I really like. I’m just not exactly sure how to go about doing that to be honest with you. Because it’s a little different than just a Bible Review. But maybe I’ll start looking into studying other types of theology in Systematic Theology Roman Catholic theology stuff like that. Because I like the idea. Thanks for the comments.
