The big smile at the end of the finish line, the national flag wrapped around their shoulders and the heroic welcome at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport often mark the beginning of a good life; a parting of ways with poverty and the crossing of the line into the world of riches and bliss.
While a significant number make it, others have fallen prey to predators such as friends, lawyers and self styled investment advisors.
On NTV Investigates we present a story of winners in tears: a story of pain after joy and a heart breaking story of kenya's heroes turned poor millionaires.

How can a full lawyer like Terer not be in the knowhow of how to put up a written agreement during a patnership business?? to me this is a case of fraud from the lawyer..action has to be taken..and if it was a joint business..why did he decide to sell assets without prior knowledge of the other party?
Thanks Dennis Okari for the insight times like this s when we need less of politics but action.for this man who made our national anthem be known and be heard everywhere.The government should also act on this issue.

What's even worse is this lawyer is now one of the leaders in the county assembly. I feel so sad for Daniel. I pray for his wife and family and wish there is a way to bring back his lost glory.
I don't know why some people are so wicked... but just as a reminder, no one gets out of this world alive and unpunished.

The plight of those children, plus the tears that mother is shedding are a perfect witness against the one who is responsible for all this. As sure as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, the one responsible will one day remember two things; the crime committed against this family, and the tears of this mother coupled with the suffering of the kids. My dears, you can never commit an inhuman act against a mother, any mother and expect to walk away like you do walk out of a toilet. Isaac Kipkemei Terer is Uasin Gishu County Assembly speaker,a leader who thinks education will take him far but he will pay for it accordingly. He thought he will apply all the laws in the poor athlete's life, God will surprise him. I don't understand why this athletes are advised to have a financial advisers from Kenya,a land of corruption, a land where cheap thieves are jailed and expensive thieves are left to continues stealing just coz they know how to defend themselves
so painful,but the wife has a golden heart God will surely reward them back
we need all organs to be engaged in this, Law Society of Kenya, EACC, and Judiciary. TERER i wish you too get into such a state. God may You remember Komen and his family.

The lawyer happens to want to run for public office. If he could embezzle a poor runners money in that magnitude and scale, think about the billions he will fly with in a public office. And you know what, voters are dumbest and they will vote him in. 5 years down the line he will pull a "Mbona hamkunichukua kwa police for investigation wakati huo" Ok I will sit now.

This is the saddest video i have watched in a while,,i could literally hear my heart beating....this is not fair at all but God will restore him,,,may he win the next race...i watched the pain in his wife and it tore me into two...why are people so ruthless?

What a tragic story, true piece of journalism. Thank you Dennis Okari for highlighting this issue. So now we live in a society that only looks at enriching ourselves. Yes money does give you all the material things you want but maybe getting rich is not as hyped up to be.

The ministry for sports or the athletics board should form a counseling body for the athletes. The body should be responsible for among others financial counseling.

I find it hard to believe that a lawyer who knows the law and importance of contracts didn't think it was necessary to write one when getting to a joint venture. he says their relationship was friendship and business, Komen wasn't his friend till he approached him to be his lawyer, so I don't see friendship here other than totally business. it's a shame this lawyer took advantage of Komen's naivety and milked the guy dry. karma is real Mr Terer. I am sure this is not a unique story, many Kenyan athletes have fallen for the same trickery. Kenya Athletic Association need to do better by giving these athletes financial management courses or something. such a shame

someone took my money that he is processing some documents , he lied onto me , for a couple of months I didn't receive any detail , I just prayed God to restore what I had given out , this man later died I got notice after a year that he was a conman .....few months later I got a promotion to oversees. What I encourage komen Lord holds your heart everything comes without knocking , May almighty kick off that devil , God open doors for more fruits in your family.
