The fact that Matt and his team has built this magnificent machine in that small shop with basically a handheld plasma cutter and other hand tools is incredible. 24:00 If you ever want to preserve something off of a markerboard, put packing tape (or maybe a sheet of laminating plastic) over the drawing, overlapping the edges a little and you can peel the entire sheet of tape off and then stick it to a piece of cardboard. It wont look any different than if you drew it on the cardboard in the first place, and then covered it with tape! it works especially well for smaller things that a single width of tape can cover.
I love seeing Matt check his wrist when referencing time. 😂 I have done this for years and only recently was it pointed out to me that I never wear a watch! Thanks for making sure I’m not the only one, Matt!
Matt I actually really like the rusty look around all the boom area and all the welded in rivets!! LOL, looked like Matt was looking at his own shirt to see how to spell his own name. I know it was him trying to give it the same FONT but I am surprised nobody teased him about it. You are all a sanctuary in a mad world.
Bending the rebar around the top of the shock tower is a great idea! I wondered if you would put the linear strength back into the towers where you cut out space for the shocks. That truck will be a piece of functional welding art when completed. It's obvious that Peanut loves you too, Matt.
Great! Almost 40 min of wrecker work, and it feels like 10. Love the no paint approach. Can´t wait to see what this machine can to out in the terrain, but even before the unavoidable adjustments to come I think it will be pretty capable!

All these comments about Lizzy, I think the answer is simple, she is no longer a teen, married ,full time job, household etc. it’s called life and adulthood. And sometimes it sucks, but I have confidence that she’ll find the right balance. Adulthood started for me pretty early and even earlier for my parents , but it seems to be delayed for most young people today and Lizzy maybe the exception. Hope she powers through 👍
I love the collaboration on this episode, I'm only 5 minutes and 20 seconds in and I've already seen Rori, Merlin and Paul, love it! It makes me a bit jealous watching all the building and 4x4 the trails. When you're broken and you can't do the regular work or even go play like you do on the trails like you do. So, you live vicariously through others, like you. So thanks
Love how peanut just gets up on the hood area like I am here to help. To cute. The pups add to the videos. Got to say it looks like that cab not good on a tall person. Enjoy watching all the hard work and fun.
I certainly hope lizzie is here for the duration. She so sweet and one hell of a hard working young lady. Just love her. And love her beautiful hair also

You were joking about your build plans on the whiteboard, but I have to say, before I came across your channel I didn't know that people could build actual vehicles. Maybe that sounds stupid, but it had never occurred to me before. I somehow thought only factories could make them. Totally appreciate the inspiration.

Editor - Think you might have missed a good opportunity at 20:27 where Matt is saying he lives his life one quarter mile at a time? UA-cam short? Man you guys are doing a good job getting so many of these...much appreciated.
Matt, Like every big, complex, unique, one off project ever dreamed into existence and built by an eyeball engineer, the details take forever, often being changed and rebuilt several times as the machine evolves...90% done, 90% to go..... You are now at the stage where you start considering the advice of others....I have only one suggestion. The drivers seat...... If you ever hope to drive it very far, you need more room.... Simple to get another 4" of leg room. Hell, two more inches would help a lot. Your head is about 8" from the back window... Two inches is plenty, with a nice headrest. Likely running out of time to go full custom, like I have done a couple times on/in Experimental Aircraft. Later, no problem... There are affordable, commercial bolt in options that will give 3-4 inches of legroom. Some boat seats come to mind....... Yes, it almost looks like you have enough room, when you pose in the seat, sitting straight up, pushed back, with your belly sucked in to keep it off the steering wheel, but comfortable?.... It reminds me of the proverbial "monkey humpin' a football"...... 4 more inches legroom would make that disturbing image fade away. This would be the easiest fix of all the recent change. My 02c worth. That truck will be amazing. With that clearance and low cg, it should out most crawlers, climb big obstacles, and retrieve the previously impossible....Cheers, ...JE

great work Matt, cant wait to see it under its own power. you guys are a inspiration in building this heavy wrecker from scratch, well done to you and your team
Ed is an inspiration for me as a young male. You got to keep moving and you're never to old to work. Ed is always quick to help out.
Like sands through the hourglass, these are the days of our lives.... Not all things are supposed to be looked into..... I'm sure everyone including Lizzy is fine. Great video guys. And yes, I have wasted a number of brake lines by forgetting the fitting prior to flaring.
I've done both. Leaving the nut off or putting on backward.
Poor Lizzie just looks so exhausted, shes really giving it the 115%.
Shes got the best welds of the whole team
I am glad that I’m not the only one who sees this...... Lizzie doesn’t look like she feels well or she is very exhausted. Either way, she needs to take care of herself.
They all need to...
Yeah, I saw that. She looks tired.
@@davidcampbell4465 More than tired, she looks ill.
Thought so too or unhappy
I hope I’m wrong but I think she will quit soon.
Or just snap a photo.
That plasma cutter rocks! That vise is a very good idea.
I think I would run the wrecker longer out in the weather and let the rust get longer rust runs on all the steel and then definitely do a really heavy coat of clear coat on it!!! That would definitely look sweet for sure!!! Just an idea!!! Awesome video buddy and remember 2nd is always better than 3rd!!! Lol!!
I am amazed at the suppliers you have in such a rural area.
Hurricane and St. George aren’t just little podunk towns, they are pretty good size metropolitan areas
@@chubbrock659 Yes, after looking at the google maps, St. George especially, is quite a fair size place. Together it looks like well over 100,000
@@stefeniedavidmusic yep, and rapidly growing despite massive drought the last decade!
Great to see the Wrecker getting closer to the finish line. Great team work on the welding, Lizzy, Tom-Tom and Matt.
Give Lizzie another year and she's gonna be the best welder in the state. She has such a steady hand.
Have you saw those welds? She been welding for couple years allready. She is lacking for sure.
@@trinkladd seen? Yes I have. The word you're looking for isn't "saw" (nor "allready" because it isn't a word but that is another conversation). And I know she's early on starting from no background in the space. If you're going to insult, make sure it makes sense and doesn't have areas for you to be insulted.
Great video as usual , we all miss Lizzy presence , hope she will get a bigger part in the future . I am wondering what you will do to prevent the mud ( like the last recoveries you did lately ) to splash the windshield directly from these monstruous mud thrower tires up front ?
Keep up the good work guys !
WOW!! This is a great video!!! With Merlin & Rory stopping by to see how everything is going & to give feedback. Matt, you really do have a great group of people working for you & great friends.
Paul and Ben said they were going to be running air lines. Southwest needs all the help they can get!
Love the show Matt! What a great crew and entertaining as ever. This wrecker project is insane!
Can't wait to see it perform. Good luck in the olympics!
Cannot wait to see it done and going up over a recovery
Brilliant! Thank you Matt and crew for shielding most of the welding arc flash. Makes for much more pleasant viewing. Good stuff!
love your videos.especially the rebuild ones. especially right now since my father passed away on Feb 2/2023 he was 78 yrs old, i need videos like yours and others to distract me from my grief.thank you for the video help.
Tom is starting to do things only Matt would do. You guys all make a great team. Thanks for all your hard work. can't wait to see this go down the road.
Tom is not going to last.
@@georgeorwell126 I'm thinking Lizzy is not going to last.
God that is rad. I think Rory will take it, just because of his all day every day knowledge, but, this is going to be fun. I dig Paul, Matt, and Rory,.. so either way, i win.
That edit of the wrecker becoming self aware was the greatest segment of all time!
Lizzy my granddaughter loves you! I'm her grandpa and when she comes over asks for vid of yellow banana. recently been the wrecker build. As long as your in it she is happy and watches intently! Your an influence and role model for young girls. She is only six. Thank you for being you! I'd be proud if she takes up welding and recovery's in the future, :)
LOL, looked like Matt was looking at his own shirt to see how to spell his own name. I know it was him trying to give it the same FONT but I am surprised nobody teased him about it. The whole MORR, Fab Rats, Trail Mater and Robby Layton community makes the best non divisive content out of the USA. You are all a credit to your communities and should take pride in what you do.
I love that Matt looks down at his shirt when writing “Matt” on the roll of tape for Rory’s shirt.😂
All kind of great things in this video. Peanut should have his on show the way he jumps around it is so comical. Lizzy is a genius with the welder and what a cool helmet. Your work always impresses me. Olympics on the way and almost here. Be safe, healthy and happy. See you all on the next video.
All of you guys are doing a great job building the world's largest off road wrecker. God bless you all.
Kudos to the film and editing crew. Nicely done with "stand-in😉" inserts and content! Best episode yet of the wrecker build.👍
The bit about trophies was a really good jump in edit, whatever it's called. It feels better placed than when they just say I approve this message or I totally agree... although those are enjoyable too 🙂. Anyway back to the video.
I agree, I laughed at the cut.
That fact that those "I agree" cuts are so out of place is exactly what makes them so funny!🤣
This a great video of the build. Lizzy is one great welder I wish I could weld as good as her. Love seeing her welding. Watching peanut jump on the window area to get to you was great. You guys are great to watch. Stay safe and have fun.
It makes me a bit jealous watching all the building and 4x4 the trails. When you're broken and you can't do the regular work or even go play like you do on the trails like you do. So, you live vicariously through others, like you. So thanks
Anyone else skip through the video before watching to see if we get any actual footage fnit driving? 😂 excited for y’all
Nope
Love how peanut just gets up on the hood area like I am here to help. To cute. The pups add to the videos. Got to say it looks like that cab not good on a tall person. Enjoy watching all the hard work and fun.
Couldn't help but notice that Matt's tow truck welding blanket seems more fire resistant than Paul's.
"ill show ya" something alot of people take for granted. its nice to see you teaching rather than humiliating when something is unknown to someone
I certainly hope lizzie is here for the duration. She so sweet and one hell of a hard working young lady. Just love her. And love her beautiful hair also
Really great original content! Love the steady updates. Love the rebar edge guards. Think I would lay a welding blanket on those synthetic winch ropes and over the cab glass. SOOO COOL!!
Loved the editing and special effects in this vid! So exciting seeing the wrecker in it’s final stages of assembly!!!
You were joking about your build plans on the whiteboard, but I have to say, before I came across your channel I didn't know that people could build actual vehicles. Maybe that sounds stupid, but it had never occurred to me before. I somehow thought only factories could make them. Totally appreciate the inspiration.
@Rich Rishel There were traffic lights in the 19th century? Never knew that
@@richrishel9809 You warm the cockles of this pedant's heart.
Rory and Trail Mater crew bring some fun and shenanigans! LOL
That was too funny guys.
Imitation if the most sincere form of flattery they say...and you guys keep dishing it out like it's an all you can eat buffet.
Can't tell you how much that is appreciated these days...thank you for the videos guys.
I'm so proud of Matt. He's using safety glasses ( well, at least more of the time)!
No side shields on them though, but at least he's getting better.
💯👍🏼For Sure.. rushing a loved one to the emergency room with a sliver of steel in there 👁️ is no fun 😭 AIR ASSAULT
Man I can't wait to see the heavy wrecker on it's own power
A vice is an awesome attachment for a work vehicle. When I built the tray on my Ute, I have 5 30x30 tubes in various spots around the edge to slip in extras like ladder racks, skinning hooks, a vice ECT.
I enjoyed that whole video.
Lizzy seems to be doing well at her welding job.👍
It is great to see the love that Matt has for his Dogs.
Too Funny... The best laugh of the day was when Merlin stopped in.. Matt and Paul just tear me up.. Great entertainment guy's....
Looking awesome can't believe the amount of engineering going into that.
You know it's cold if Matt is wearing a jacket!
Hoping Lizzie's ok....we all love ya girl!
Good to see a portable vise for the wrecker. I had one on a log truck for fixing hydraulic hoses and such. Good to see it all coming together.
