Great advice on warm season grass. The 1st time I applied on my Bermuda it did turn a lil yellow. The 2nd time I added liquid iron no yellowing at all. Thanks you mate!
Loads of great info here, I certainly hit that rebound phase a week ago, the lawn went nuts! I'll be reapplying according to the GDD on Monday after seeing this video.
Great Vid Ben! Very informative! I think I am going to try on my Rye in NY this year with T-Nex. Nice to see your fungus issue is almost gone like 99% Appreciate all your vids!
Hey mate that was absolute quality and you have a new subscriber 👌 I have Nullabour Couch Sunshine Coast which is going great and I'm keen to take it next level with some primo max. I'll be applying lawn pride GreenXtra liquid fert at the same time. Any links you might have that might help would be great. I'm thinking I'll keep the first application on the low end and just go 10ml/100sqm and see how it goes...would you recommend anything else? How would you time the mowing for a first application?
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger myself. But from what I have seen, you have to hit the reapplication timing right on the money. I'm going to be very careful with that.
Best one-stop PGR video, bar none!!!! I use the same PGR on a 1/4" hybrid bermuda in central Oklahoma and I will vouch for everything said here. It's essential. It's as if the scientists all had my grass-type with it's normal every-other-day mowing requirement and said, "To hell with this. Let's invent something that turns this particular grass type into an asset." I preach it in my neighborhood but no one listens. They derisively call my yard astroturf. They get seed heads a couple days after a mow and I never do. They pay someone to run a rotary mower over their 3" high grass once a week, and I use my manual reel every 10 days or so just to enjoy the mow and keep everything super-fine. I also used min and max rates at first to test it and saw the results you mentioned....some yellowing and over suppression on the max rate area, but in the end it barely added 20-25% to the longevity. I only use minimum rate now. Great point on bare spots. HowToWithDoc has a good video on how to accelerate fill-in for bermuda and other grasses that spread via stolons. It's very expensive stuff in bulk (a gallon), but the application cost is very, very low (about $0.25/1000 sq ft every 3-4 weeks in the heat of the summer). Being able to go on an extended vacation and not have to hire someone to mow once or twice (or 4-5x) while you're gone will more than cover your investment costs. Be very careful where you buy it. If certain countries are knocking-off every consumer good in sight to earn mere pennies on the dollar (They're now doing boardgames. Boardgames!!), you know there must be HUGE potential for diluting this stuff down or not making the real thing at all. I use DoMyOwn and hope they're very careful abut their sourcing. Amazon has it cheaper but I have no idea where it really came from. Now, if I could just get my pH down from 8.3 (it's on new construction where a hill once was....so I'm growing on post-dust bowl Okie subsoil) I'll REALLY get some derisive comments from the neighbors.
Are you able to find this stuff in containers that are smaller than a gallon? I have a small patch of hybrid Bermuda in south Louisiana. A gallon of PGR would last me for a decade. And unfortunately no one near me is interested in manicuring their lawn like mine so I can't split the gallon either.
@@LonghornsLegend I only need 0.25 oz/1000 sq ft when cutting it low. It typically lasted 5-6 weeks, but I suspect I will have to apply it a little more often as my lawn becomes healthier this season due to an improved soil and fert plan (based off soil test results that I finally got done). When you factor in a growing season of maybe 7 months where the PGR is really useful, you can see a gallon will last a long, long time in a yard your size. Note that longer grass will require more PGR. Even if I have to toss half the gallon away in a few years due to age it will have more than paid for itself. I have a 9000 sq ft yard, which costs me about $3 to treat. I can now leave for vacation in the middle of summer growth season and not have to hire someone to mow my yard twice while I'm away. That's savings!
@@koomo801 thank you sir, this is helpful. First year I'm gonna try this I think it'll work wonders on my edges primarily and to thicken up the turf. Thanks!!
Thanks again, brother! Another great video......thanks for the info. Been a little curious about PGR. Thank you for answering several of the questions I had! ✌️
Thanks Ben for covering PGR! I plan to add it to my arsenal when my Bermuda grass is actively growing next year in the springtime “Yo mate..What up? Welcome back to another lawn tip vid... Wink (gotta love that Aussie accent) LOL!
Just subscribed! Question: My lawncare service company recommended an optional PGR application treatment over 5 applications during the summer. The cost of the 5 treatments is $225. Can I do this myself and what are the benefits of PGR?
Following this channel before laying my turf. Been a great help mate. When is the earliest I can topdress? Im not in a flat area thus its easy to scalp during mowing. The turf has been in for a month now
I know I unearthed an old topic like an archaeologist, but I wanted to ask. I did overseeding in the spring, it is just over a month from the seeding, you can see seeds have sprouted in many places. The nests where they are still really small. But the old lawn is growing like crazy. Does applying PGR make any sense at this point?
Couple questions. Is it best to water the lawn a day or two before application? Is it ok to continue your normal irrigation schedule after applying PGR (after it dries according to label)? Thanks...
Cutless baby! ;) helps contain poa annua and its seedhead. Increases plant density 🌱 which is great! We use it all the time on the course. Great vid mate.
I'm going to be applying pgr this year here in Minnesota. One question I have would be what if you applied half dose or 1/3 dose at 100 GDD or 150 GDD? would you have isues or would you see a more sustained balance of growth?
Great looking lawn! Do you know if it will work on weeds also or just turf? I have a really deep drainage ditch I want to spray if it will help slow down the growth but it's mostly weeds.
Bruv super helpful and informative vid. Am From Detroit MI and i hate having to cut my acre of lawn once a week or else it gets out of hand. Will be looking into this stuff this spring. Will definitely be worth gettin this stuff because all that time saved from not mowing.

Question2: in your vid u said we are tryna add up to a growing degree day of 200 but going forward as soon as it adds up 100 you re-apply? Am confused?
