Super helpful Matt! My fungicide and PGR are supposed to come in the mail in 3 days so this was SUPER timely! Didn’t even know I was going to be doing something better for keeping away dollar spot! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Matt, just came across this video. Wow, you should do more of these videos if you can find the time. You Kind Sir 🙂 have a natural gift of getting your viewers undivided attention. This video style is the best on the block. Fan for life. Appreciate all you do. 👍🍻
hey matt. I haven't caught a live show in a month or so....but I was out today putting down PGR on my yard, and some of my commercial property mowing account/customers. Hoping to knock down the mowing frequency on the commercial accounts while improving the turf color and density. Hoping on in the right track. I bought the big jug (2.5 gallon) container of T-nex, which came out cheaper by the ounce. Now im going to sit back and enjoy the video. Keep this content coming....I learn SO much from these videos. I need to go back and review your Nutsedge program too. Its becoming a big issue in a few of my customer yards.
I am amazed on how fast you got that Bermuda looking good so fast. I feel like I been over thinking how to convert my lawn. Took me 3 seasons to get mine looking like it does. I have learned a lot by watching you all. Nice job man!.
Thanks brother! I'm having a tough year of it this year. Between the bobcat tracks and the drought we had, it's further behind than I would have liked, but it's coming along.
Nice job Matt. Only critique is the damn annoying music that seems to get louder when you're not talking. As always though, appreciate the time you put into these educational videos.
Perfect timing for this video Matt as I am using T-Nex for the first time this season. Looking forward to some great results. Since you mention the risk of overapplying in the video, I wanted to ask what you recommend the frequency schedule of application be for a Midwest lawn (KBG, Rye, fescue mix) in NW Indiana near Chicago. I don't mow low. I keep mine at around 3.5" in the spring and up to 4-4.25" during the peak summer months of July/August. My first application was just last week on May 31st. I had hoped to start earlier in the season but the month of May was very, very wet for us and offered no window of opportunity for applying without the lawn being wet. We received over 18" of rain throughout the month of May, which set a new record. Luckily our temps stayed cool with only 1 day being in the low-80's. The remainder of the month our temperatures ranged from the 30's to 60's. We even had snow and a 50 degree variance in temperature all within a 72-hour period the first week of the month. A very weird month to say the least. Having said that, I also took the precaution of applying a fungicide preventative in Scott's Disease-Ex at a rate of 2# per 1k when I applied my PGR. Thanks in advance for any info. As always, your videos are very helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to put them out.
@@TheGrassFactor I just posted a question on the Lawn Care Forum. I would love to get your opinion. I know about GDD's and I have KBG height of cut (HOC) at 2.5" - 3". I had planned on using ~250 GDD's at 0° C (S.E. Minnesota) as a baseline, but the person said that because my HOC is taller, I should use more like 350 GDD's. This is the first time I've heard or read that the HOC is a factor regarding GDD's. I know I may need more product compared to say, a 1/2" HOC, but just assumed the GDD's would be the same. Your input is appreciated. (I will be using T-Nex)
What about broadleaf weeds? Does this has an effect on them too? Or will it make them stick out more in your grass and prevent the grass from crowding them?
Thanks for the great information as always. I came here to say I felt the video editing style was a little awkward for me; taking long breaks in the middle of thoughts to play music that’s much too loud took me out of the moment and made it hard to focus on the content of the video. The format I personally enjoy the most is the PowerPoint slideshow with your face in frame and you explaining in real time. This critique is meant to be constructive in nature to help your channel, one that’s helped me turn my yards around, be the best and most accessible it can be. Thanks for doing what you do!
I can only speak to Bermudagrass, but DO NOT combine T-NEX 1AQ with broadleaf weed control products. I learned the hard way. Being emulsified concentrate diminishes the selectivity of the weed control.
Ive done 2 applications of t nex so far on saint Augustine in Texas How many applications should It take to get a golf course look? And once I get that look do I need to reapply it every month forever to maintain the look?
Great video Matt. What about using a PBR with Hydretain? Curious to know if this could be a benefit in that the Hydretain would allow the Humidity in the air being pulled into the plant as water nourishment? Which would mean even less watering cycles in the hot summer months? I understand that a PBR can reduce disease stress like brown patch and other fungi but would the combination of the Hydretain make it worse? Thanks, Ed

I've gone off label with Proxy before on cool season rye, only to have grown stands that had a rock hard texture, much like my girlfriend's hair in the 1980's under an aquanet application.
Matt, I made the mistake of overapplying sedgehammer on certain areas of my bermuda lawn. I've been struggling to get these areas to fill back in. I'm on the N-ext biostim pack and I've applied the air8, humic acid, and RGS with extra lovin to those areas. The smaller areas are beginning to fill in from outside edges but the larger areas are still struggling. After watching this video I'm sure the t-nex isn't helping. Currently using a JD 220 E-Cut. Is it possible the GTC is preventing the runners from spreading across these patches? Ideas?
@@JN-yn3sq AH gotcha. Depending on your HOC, it's likely you don't need to be using your GTC. Higher HOC, less need for GTC. It's typically designed for greens HOC. I notice a lot of runners actually pulled up and damaged by GTC and therefore only use it when its over grown
@@TheGrassFactor would you recommend avoiding the use of a PGR on a non irrigated turf in the heat of summer? I assume once it does brown out it will take even longer to recover. Also, how about using PGR on taller HOC?
Taller height of cut is fine, and non irrigated is fine, it does recover without much delay. I applied to drought stress turf. It greened up with one rain
Matt, Using the Nebraska spreadsheet it has me reapplying my T-nex on day 9 if I enter the highs/lows in forecasted view. That seems pretty quick to me. What do you think? Birmingham, AL Bermuda hybrid HOC 1.5
First dirty first.
Great job. Professional advice backed with university research offered up for free on UA-cam. What more could a lawn nut ask for. Kudos.

This is a great add-on product we use and there is data supporting that it increases shade tolerance which is great for all the Bermuda turf.
Thats very interesting!!
Best PGR vid I've seen! Thanks for the great info!!

Perfect, I'm trying PGR for the first time just before leaving for vacation in a couple weeks. Awesome video as unusual!
Your KBG will love it!

Use growing degree days. it adapts to all climates in all areas. It automatically calculates reapplication interval for you

Very well done.
So is it a waste to apply on cool season grass during summer months since everything slows down anyway?
Do you have an updated resource for calculating GDD. 200 happens ever 14 days in Raleigh Is that correct?

Any effect if PGR is sprayed on tree trunks when applying to lawn?

GTC?

How does PGR handle heat stress in non irrigated turf? Is it safe to apply before going into the heat of summer?
Water is most imperitive as always. It may delay onset of stress, but it won't prevent it

Using the Nebraska spreadsheet it has me reapplying my T-nex on day 9 if I enter the highs/lows in forecasted view. That seems pretty quick to me. What do you think?
Birmingham, AL
Bermuda hybrid
HOC 1.5
It's all rate dependent on growing degree days so that may not be too far off
My rate is 0.4 oz per 1k square feet. I'll just see how's it looking at that point and go from there. Thanks
Why does your bermuda look so stressed? It’s thin and brown like it’s lacking something.
I just hammered it with sulfentrazone and 3way, plus no rain for 3 weeks. It's extremely stressed
Ahhhh... that makes sense!
Well produced video. Putting it nicely, your lawn doesn’t look very good.
Yes, that's historical footage of my lawn to show what it's been through.
Who is this dude and what did he do with Matt? 😂

I put so much gibberellic acid on my grass it burned it. Slowed it down for about 2 months lmao
