As with any 928, it's much more complicated than that.
In the video previous to this latest one, I cover replacing the vacuum modulator and symptoms of when it is not receiving vacuum (very hard shifts) and when the pressure is not adjusted properly ("fanning and not shifting into top gear at part-throttle). As you can see in this video, while I successfully installed a new modulator, I still need to fine-tune the adjustment.
There is a kick down sensor mounted under the accelerator pedal. When you press the accelerator to the floor, a metal bracket mounted to the back of the pedal contacts the round black sensor mounted to the firewall. When working properly, the transmission should kick down.
Finally is the transmission kickdown cable attachment in the engine bay. You didn't mention what year you 928 is, so depending on that you may need to adjust what's called the "Bowden Cable."
I recommend watching my previous video on the vacuum modulator and then find a reputable mechanic knowledgeable on Mercedes 722 automatic transmissions.
Thank you for watching and asking!
