I bought a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with near 100,000 Miles from an auto auction in Las Vegas Nevada. It is quite possibly the cheapest V12 Ferrari sale in modern history, but with 100,000 miles and questionable origins, was it worth it???

That's a nice shop you have there.

Glad to see you back. I hope all is well with you. The mechanic seems like a very good guy and one I would trust to work on my vehicle.
Could not care less about cars but this guy is so genuine, so normal and so refreshingly not a fake badass act like every other youtuber, especially car youtubers who all put on an an act and try to low key act like a big boss who is rich and let everyone know just how great they are.
This guy's videos are enjoyable to watch even if you don't care for the content. That says a lot. Well done.
When a mechanic is test driving your car, he's listening for issues. This is the only time you SHOULDN'T TALK non-stop.
Seriously lol
Im sure Sam shut up at one point, but he is not going to have all that recorded. After all, Sam is paying for an inspection, so i think he knows what he is doing. He just didn’t film the quiet bits.
@@paulsz6194 oh wow! Cars make unusual noises on a schedule? Or they only make noises when you're quiet? Thanks I didn't know cars couldn't have random noises 😃.
@@paulsz6194 As a shop owner for 17 years, not one time did I allow someone to be a part of a pre or post purchase inspection. This guy is taking valuable time away from the technician by hanging off his shirt tials and asking stupid questions like "you get a free clutch with an oil change dont you?" Typical cheap ass.

Great to see you back Sam! Awesome video and I love that you are so willing to take a chance on such an amazing car!
That garage looks the real deal : lots of space; clean; well lit; and very knowledgeable staff. And they seem very professional. Wishing the garage success with the new location, and Sam the best with this new project. I love the big front engined Ferraris. They are very, very cool. And elegant. And cool :)
can you tell me a good reason why the tech didnt check the codes immediately after test drive while everything in the system was hot. instead raised the car and removed stuff and said to do code check later...

great show Sam kept me glued Saturday morning.
13:30 Your comment to the technician on a stop leak additive !the look he gave you was Priceless!
You looking for mechanic in can ? Lol 😆
When you are a dedicated professional mechanic with values, it is extremely difficult to deal with the public that wants the exotic but wants to cheap out on the repairs. The mechanic is 100 percent all in and has to stand behind his work in the form of his reputation regardless of the shop's warranty. So installing substandard or cheap aftermarket parts the customer supplies or demands because be is a cheap ass affects the mechanics as much as the shop's reputation.
That mechanic had a little Eric the Car Guy Look to him
He looks like Ultimate Rebuilds in about 15 years, a divorce and couple rounds of rehab
This guy looks exactly like a young Eric the car guy.
I thought he sounded a lot like George Watsky somehow. Seemed like a real pleasant dude.

I blame the Hondabond
Your back and yet another good find and video! Missed ya Sam!
Thanks for being so open and up front with this car!
I'm so happy you're back and feeling better Sam, I missed your show.
Sam was Sick?! i didn't know.
Great to see you back in action! And with another Ferrari no less! Glad everyone is well 👍
All the best to the new shop, guys! As for the car, Sam, let us see what all the repairs costs total before we find out if it was a good deal or not.
Our engine treatment won't help with the leaks, but it sure will protect all the bearings and friction surfaces. We'd be happy to send you some!
Tony looks like a long lost cousin of Sam...
I thought they were brothers. Sam was alluding to this but Tony didn't catch on.
My thoughts exactly
Nah he looks like the guy from awolnation
So Adam sander and Bradley cooper are related then
He looks like Pablo Montoya
Great video, very fun to see the inspection from a Ferrari certified tech, learned a lot.
Congratulations Sam! Love this model! A beauty... The classic styling Ferrari that will last a lifetime. A combination of the past, present and future styling that carries the Italian Ferrari styling character. Bellissimo! :)
Shes a keeper. At that price I'd daily it. Thing will probably go 250k plus miles with little effort or a ton of cash. Thanks to the previous owner.
This car has all the hallmarks of being garaged and drove sparingly over the last several years if much at all. Congratulations. Hell of a buy sam
Awesome video Sam with awesome cars. @CassianLevinson thanks for taking the time out of your day to give us a look at the all the cars. Sam Can't wait for you to go for your first ride after the car is done.
Samcrac “So you’re running a special. Get a free clutch with every oil change.”
Tony “Any make or model” in a deadpan voice and look. 🤣
This is going to be a great relationship.👍
I was waiting for him to say something like “yep, oil change starts at $12000”…
"And a Free House" You have my word on it :D
With this car, you have a chance to take the right steps now. Getting these guys to do the timing belt, oil change, throw out bearing, clutch, and f1 actuator up front is what I consider a good investment. Changing all the tires is probably a very good idea as well. the leaking shocks, well... they can probably wait until you can source some at a better price. Overall, a nice purchase and there is plenty of space here to do some good sane fixes without getting in way over your head.
They were calling, what looked like a grooved drive belt, a "timing belt". The timing belt is visible from outside the motor??? Is that correct?
Any good friction shop can resurface the flywheel, re-friction the disc and replace shock springs, and resurface/re-spring the pressure plate. No OEM finished parts needed, except perhaps the TO bearing.. and thats probably a borrowed item from a mass produced car.
This more or less emphasizes cars are designed to be driven and many of the problems these exotics have come from sitting in a garage for the majority of their lives.
Great to see you back Sam with a potential winner car purchase. Well deserved indeed. Would like to see what that oil looks like from 2014. Just crazy. $15k to fix is still a great buy for this one! Cheers!
I remember on Top Gear when Jeremy raced the Scaglietti up to Switzerland, he also had the windshield wiper noise on his car.
33k was a deal, as long as the fixes is less than say, 15k, including a good detailing and ceramic coating!
I've not been digging quite a few of your recent video's Sam, but this one was really watchable and pretty good. Good luck with the new Ferrari. Look forward to hear about the repairs!
Really enjoyed listening to Bradly and the rest of European Exotics crew!
I had one of these for 2 years . A lot of fun at high speeds. Highly underrated. You’ll love it when it’s all done, good luck 😀
Im getting closer on my Car Trek 308!! I know all about “Cheap Ferrari” pains now as well Sam.
Shocked to see you got a 612. More shocked it’s in such great shape for such a good price!
Your guy in the video has a serious Fernando Alonso look!
Fun fact: The ghost in the middle of the engine window (@24:25) is Koenigsegg honoring the Swedish Royal Airforce division that used to be located where the cars are built now. They use the old airstrip for drive tests.
Great episode Sam! EEC and Tony Dippel are clearly the Real Deal. Immaculate shop, specialized equipment and properly trained mechanics.
The only thing that could have made it better is if you had taken your Step Mother with you! 😲🤣
Keep up the good work!
Yeah the porn star stepmother is okay eye candy, but if I want to see porn stars I will just watch porn.
A great BMW/Audi free video, one of the best for ages. A must watch when future videos follow the 612 progress.
Awesome video Sam !!!! Beautiful car, and I think you got a great deal !!!
+100 on the Hondabond, excellent stuff. I've long since gone to this sealer over any sort of rtv.
The 612. One of my faves. I always liked the touring Ferrari's the most, the long nose, the rumbling V12, especially the older Daytonas. $33K for this buggy is a terrific bargain. 99K miles aside, it's a great price. I'll guess the overhaul, throw out bearing, clutch, gaskets etc... $17,000. ( I wonder if I'm close)
I hope Ferrari never stops making piston engines .Amidst the pressure from the left to do so.
I took a road trip to the corvette museum. It just so happened that a Cadillac XLR club was there that day. They were pretty neat looking.
This was an amazing episode well done!
Sort the CEL and sticky buttons, mop the paintwork, advertise for 48k and flip it for 45k.
First video I’ve watched and I loved the personality you got my sub!!
Lol I love how the mechanic who's being paid by the hour makes sure to do the scan last lol.
I'm glad you're taking it to professionals; now you'll have at least one car finished.
Or will he?..... 😁
Great episode, entertaining throughout. I'd like it twice if I could.
Great and insightful episode! Keep it up
Where I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the uber rich in places like Linville Ridge have their Ferraris and Maseratis hauled from Palm Beach to the mountains in special trailers so they can tool around for a few months before shipping their toys back to Florida for the winter. A local auto shop specializing in exotic cars does a land office business and often there are more than a dozen cars sitting outside waiting for service at $300 per hour. I'll stick with my Mazda CX-5. Five years and no expenses except for oil changes.
Good to see you back. Was getting Samcrac withdrawal symptoms - The overwhelming urge to purchase cars, start fixing them and then place them unfinished in a field......... =D
That was a great buy, seriously. Even if you pay that company to do all the work, it is one cheap 612. I would have it in a heartbeat, faults and all. I can't believe the original owner did that damage to the driver's seat.
Italian Craftsmanship ain't what it used to be...it's ACTUALLY BETTER NOW...ask anybody that owned anything Italian from the 70's - on, they have the WIMPIEST Cattle in Italy for Car Interior leather...

I love the Koenigsegg’s attention to detail on the carbon….even flows into the carbon weave on the headlights to match the weave on the body/hood 😦

Great deal Sam. Now let's see how much time and effort you put into this. Good luck.
What a gorgeous facility. Tony reminds me of Tim Roth.
Yes! That's exactly right.
I think you really ought to add to your list a repair of the driver's seat bolster.
Not a garage fix as such, but a decent old school interior shop should get that price replaced and looking like new. 👍
One of my all time favourite Ferraris, fast, comfortable, a genuinely useable 2+2, some people don’t like the looks but I think they’re stunning, just a ridiculously cool car and so undervalued compared to pretty much any other Ferrari from the 2000s. Also, put it back to stock wheels, these look awful haha.
Yeah these front engine v12s especially like the maranello or barchetta
A full paint correction with a dry ice clean underneath would love to see the before and after results
Hondabond is the shit! I used it on an intake tube Ieak on my 1.5 Hp 50 cc motorized bike after replacing the leaking intake tube/gasket and NO LEAKS! I really really want to see that oil change. 8 years and almost 100K miles? I want to see that...
I dont believe that it hasnt had an oil change since then. Sam mentioned that car had been in and out of the dealer for repair why would they skip that? I think when they bought a gross of oil filters they labelled them with purchased on date so could be used in chrono order for oil changes at a dealer.
That CCXR sounds glorious! 🙏🏻
I’m playing catch up on my videos and I can’t believe how much you paid for that car. Sir you need to fix everything and enjoy that ride. That shop is amazing looking and they really are very knowledgeable on everything. Let them handle it and you will have an amazing Ferrari. Who cares about the miles. You have enough projects on your plate to do. Great buy 👍

I had a 612 a while back and it was an amazing car. Really quick, comfortable and fantastic looks. I kind of wish I had kept it. I really don't think you can find a better driving Ferrari for the money. Great video Samcrac!
This guy would not be allowed to spend an hour in the back of a Ferrari repair shop. They would have kicked him out.
@@chrisk920 They don't really like anyone in there for any amount of time i've found. That being said, the shop he was at got 1.25 million sets of eyeballs on them and all it cost was an inspection. Not a bad deal.
Sam - you said you bought the car in April, so maybe the date on the filter is 13th April (04/13) not 2013. Rental or not no one is going to let a Ferrari go 8 years w/o an oil / filter change...just a thought
Great to have you back Sam! My evening is saved!
The XLR is indeed a Cadillac Corvette. It has a different body and uses a Northstar not an LS engine but it's built on the C6 Corvette chassis.
