Those are directional rims,you have the back right tire on the left and the left on the right on the corvette. Just a heads up.

And that right there is the main reason why I would never paint a car a matte sheen. The difference between the rocker and the quarter and the rear bumper are so drastic and quite frankly, the car looks like pure crap now. You have to time it perfectly in between coats when you are doing that type of finish and now, you can’t buff or wax it. Sounds good though lol

I agree. I wish he would have kept it glossy, then do a matte PPF if that's how he wanted to go. It looks so much better than this paint. The panel transition is terrible.

You could fiberglass the the cracked valance with some 181 cloth and Epibond 420. 420 is an Epoxy made to stick to plastic that we use in the aerospace industries.
I liked the sound of it before better than with new exhaust. It sounded even more mad and angry and messy. I love that

Yes exactly. Someone probably likes it. I don't like any of these flat black paint jobs. The color always looks off from panel to panel. Or it looks like a primer.
Back in the day we had light gray, dark gray, and black primer for our cars. We used it as a stop rust finish while we saved up for a real paint job. I liked it on my 55 Chevy and 57 Chevy. Not so much today.

Honestly I don’t like the matte black, matte just doesn’t look good on anything imo. However the wheels do really compliment the paint and work together well, I’d say it looks alright.
Yeah matte black looks cheap and the finish isn't even per panel which cheapens it more...you're right though the wheels do compliment the black.
Matte black looks great on off-road builds but on sports cars/muscle nah maybe some classics. Now if it’s wrapped a unique/distinct matte color depending on the car it could work. But what do I know I’m a bmw driver

I just don't like matte paint. It looks unfinished to me. The bronze rims aren't my thing either, but they are better than gold coloured.
I think if you really wanted it to stand out, a colour shift would have been cool. Black to blue or black to a really dark purple would have been epic.

All riced out. Turned a decent car into some kind of stealth boy-racer dream. Visible zip ties and huge wing would have completed the look. Way to take value out of a car.

Yeah, the matte is not great. It gives that "this guy probably has a pit bull that he mistreats" impression. Gloss black and non-black alloys would look better.

In a single video - finds a gem, paints it, new shoes and wheels. This is amazing. Prefer OEM front (seems more balanced) but love everything else. Big home run

I don't usually dump on other people's stuff but you said to let you know what we think. I think it looks like you rattle canned it with poorly shaken primer.
And the side skirt is a completely different shade of black
I thought the same, flat black is overdone and ugly on this vette may as well wrapped it. Also the wheels show off the stock brakes not a good look.

The flat black wouldn’t have been an option for me. Those cars look amazing in high gloss. Satin maybe at the very least. Flat black just looks like someone took out cans of primer and covered up the old paint. The nice thing is that it’s your canvas, not mine. Enjoy that great find and if you sell it I hope it brings you good money.
Totally agree!!! Any of these new flat grey cars, trucks and SUV's look horrid.
It honestly looked better before the paint, idk if it's the colour or the way it was applied but it looks weird now

I think the wheels really added to the attraction of the car. The matte black finish is a dated appearance hot several years back but doesn’t hold up to good old gloss black paint.
Agreed. My brother had a '55 Chevy hot rod painted flat black in the late 1960s. It is definitely not new.

Wheels look cheap tbh. They aren't terrible and it could be worse, but usually you can spot when the wheels are cheap just by looking at their design/finish and this is no exception. Doesn't take a genius to tell that those wheels on AMG GT are much better (ignoring the color difference).
Tbh I think matte black is still a bit better than that awful clear coat primer “color”.

In my youth I would see cars being driven finished only in primer, only to quickly rust as the primer wasn't waterproof. I still don't like the primer look.
Not an attractive car, the ZR1 front end looks wrong, and the wheels don't work.
flat black paint jobs, blacked out trim/wheels is like widebody kits, it's starting to get a little boring/tired looking cause everyone customizes their car with these same mods. 🙄😴

If you wanted a matte finish you could have just sanded the car with 600 grit.
Or honestly why not just wrap it? I cannot fathom why ruin the car paint for something that could have been achieved for similar pricing to just wrap it

I love the bronze copper wheels over black wheels. Make so much more of a difference and just pop! Would love to get a set for my mustang at some point.

It may just be the light but it looks like parts of it are darker than other parts. I do feel like the gloss black trim may make it look a lot better maybe some bronze stripes as well. It currently looks like the finish on aftermarket body parts. It could look so much better.
Yeah. I saw that too, the sideskirts and the rear look like a darker black thank the rest of the car.
I think he doesn't actually care about it being any better than a 10 foot car for UA-cam. He has ZERO attention to detail vs a lot of the people I actually subscribe to.
I think the gloss black looked better in my opinion, and re powdercoated the oem wheels.

Matte black is so last decade. The wheels may be an odd design, but the bronze adds a welcome touch of colour. Still a fairly good buy and well worth checking in on the rest of the work.

Nice work! Really like the bronze wheels with black paint....I honestly like the glossy finish vs the matt on that car but, that's just my personal preference. The exhaust sounds excellent too. Pretty amazing deal for $20K

The c7 vette is the best vette! It's a surprisingly practical vehicle! Tons of storage in the rear hatch, and it's MPG is incredible! Greatest Chevy economy car ever!

GM intended for the C-8 to be what they so called affordable when compared to super cars but the dealers have completely screwed that up for them which is why I believe that the manufacturers should notify dealerships that if they don’t sell their inventory at MSRP or below then they will not receive inventory in the future. Do away with dealerships.

I remember seeing matte finish on Ducati's back in the late 90's. It struck me as a creative way for manufacturers to increase profit margins while offering a lesser quality finish. I mean, we normally paint things because they are faded flat, right? Matte finish is the thin crust pizza of the autobody world.

The check engine light is the result of the absence of the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. Other than that, very nice car.

I learned several years ago that my favorite race cars ever (1990s JGTC) still used catalysts in the exhaust. From then on, i decided it was more worth it to make another 10 horsepower than to do a cat delete.
Looked way better when you got it from the auction.

Like the matte finish but not a fan of the bronze wheels. Gloss black wheels would have been a nice contrast.

The absolutely crazy thing about the sound is that some people would say it sounds great!!! That would be the same people probably that do muffler deletes and stuff like that!! And I always tell um you're corvette sounds like an old truck!! I'm so glad to actually hear someone who feels the same way I do!! Lol I was starting to think that maybe everyone likes the horrible raspy noise!!

I like the bronze wheels. I think some more bronze accents might be need on the car to make that black matte really get noticed. I also like the valve open idle exhaust note. Sounded low and mean. 🙂

In EU countries a car in that condition would never ever ever be allowed to drive on public roads until restored the exhaust, engine etc. Fantastic that it is possible in the US
