    I Broke Down and bought my Dream Ferrari, a 360 Modena. It looked to be really nice, with just a bit of cosmetic wear! But within 20 seconds of it's arrival, I found out that I had been scammed...

    • @erickorff1919
      @erickorff1919 4 місяці тому +5

      Unfortunately, the auction house is at the behest of the seller. They're just a 3rd party that helps with the listing and transaction. They don't have the time, resources, or knowledge to do a thorough inspection of every vehicle. They have disclaimers all over the site detailing such. The sellers should be made public so they can be banned after shady auctions.

    • @funkyzero
      @funkyzero 4 місяці тому +10

      @@erickorff1919 the auction house in this case should be acting as a mediator for foolishness such as this. the car was misrepresented.. ie: the seller lied. did CP ban this seller? demand they re-run the auction with a proper disclosure? nope. so why pay the premiums at a place like this when you are better off just buying off of facebook marketplace? you can get screwed for a lot less money there. same reason i buy from amazon now instead of ebay. ebay wont back anything and hold sellers accountable. but hey, if CP wants to get a name for not doing anything about scammers who use their service to rip people off, then so be it.

      I would want to have every car with owner disclosures flagged before bidding (yea, it’s probably done, or should be). I’d love it if they started seeing lower hammer prices due to such foolishness. Just another trick to save their time and money and shift any blame back on the seller.

Transmission was ruined. I got the same reaction from Cxxxxx that Sam did, essentially, "stick it in your ear." . I sent it back to the auction to get rid of it and they listed it with mechanical issues. I lost $2,000. About 50% of what I paid for it. Buyer beware.

    From a former 360 owner: That's the notorious HEAT EXHANGER failure, not a "cooler". As it both cools AND warms up the gearbox oil. When it fails its gonna be huge $$$ but its also PITA (expensive) to change for "preventive maintenance" -> many owners overlook this and rest is ... well ... what Sam is experiencing. Will ruin your gearbox, even rear diff as they share the same .... how to say it, "oil space" or "housing" or such.

    I think that you should have taken legal advice and pursued it with the auction….. whilst you are in a position to minimise loss and absorb some loss, others aren’t. As a home gh profile UA-camr you should set an example, if only to safeguard others falling in to the same problem. It also may fall under fraud laws and need to be progressed within the police arena. The key is intent to defraud.

    Sorry to hear that happened to you, it sounds like you had all the pieces, the skills, and the tools to put it together an make it a really nice car and bring it back from the brink of death. Hopefully whoever you sold it to can enjoy the project. You did 90% of the work, I think it would have been better to just install the new engine, new trans, and enjoy the car or sell it for more money. But you know your situation better and you have to be happy with the decisions you made because they are justified by your personal experience.

    I know I’m late to this video. However, I would like to say that I have just received my very first auction car and would like to thank you for alleviating any stress I had with going for any Copart vehicle. You really have shown me that looking up auction cars and bidding isn’t so bad as long as you’re willing to fix some problems. I’m not taking anywhere near as much risk as you are as I’m messing with making a Honda fit a reasonable daily, whereas you’re fixed lots of cars. I wish to get where you’re at and making a living off of fixing cars the right way and keep one now and the for myself cause why not.

    i would have made a stink at the auction and demanded they do something about it or i would have complained to, well in the uk we have trading standards to help get our money back, and they usually win. i get why you didnt make more of this but there are lots of car auction sites in the US, so would it have been all that bad?

    Sorry you got burned on it though - real shame, because it looked like a nice car (and it is a lovely colour).
    You did the right thing getting out of it I'm sure and pleased that you didn't lose too much money in the end.
    I do think the auction house should not be getting off scot-free on this one though

    You did the right thing in getting rid of the Ferrari, based on the facts as described. If you didn't have the passion for the car any longer then it makes no sense to expend money or effort to make it right. The one exception to all this for me is, having seen Andrew's LS swap Ferrari, I might have wanted to duplicate that as a long-term driver. I'm not a purist when it comes to foreign cars (not a collector), so I would rather maintain an LS Ferrari that ruins than a finicky all-original Ferrari with problems just waiting to show their expensive faces. Having watched you deal with your other Ferraris, it seems clear that you base your decisions more on $$ than on personal feelings about a car, since for you, there will always be another interesting/exciting car coming down the pike.

    What I don’t get usually when you buy a car from the auction you can take a look at before you even buy, when I as a kid I used to go with my dad to the auctions “clean title auctions not copart “ and we could even go days before to check out the car etc

    Weak battery aka slow turnover will effect your numbers sometimes, as well as Throttle not open wide. Maybe its diff on a Ferrari but in most cases you have to have the throttle plates open full and a FULL battery turning fast to get good numbers from your test.
