  • Muriwai can be tricky to fish at times, reading the beach and finding holes and channels to fish. This Reel Kiwi Fishing adventure I take my Sis and her partner Glynn for a surfcast up Muriwai where I share a few tips and tricks on how to find your spot and how to fish it - I also teach Glynn how to surfcast with braid and help him work on his cast.
We arrive to a small swell rolling in and make our way up the beach. Arriving half tide out makes it even trickier as the inner troughs and holes are starting to shallow out. Those in-between tides especially going out is probably the hardest to fish if your not willing to wade out across a deep patch to make an inside bank.
I prefer to fish the low tides. This allows you to fish into the deeper channels that run between that inner and outer banks where fish love to mooch up and down over that tide.
Part 1 is all about trying to find that bank to stand on that will produce the goods. As we make our way up the beach and trying 2-3 different spots, near the top end of the beach we start to get into the fish...
I hope there is a few tips and tricks in this first part that will help a few of you guys out and don't forget to hit the like button, subscribe and leave a few comments - let me know if you're keen to watch part 2....

      Hi unz5205
I don't use a shock-leader, so there is no knots running through my guides at all.

      Hi Md-vc5hr
It's normally around that 11.00 o'clock mark (I like between 10-11.00) anywhere below that or above that makes for a short or high cast.
