Hey Shawn, love your journey. Pat yourself on the back, because your one of the only reactors to react to this hidden Gem! Thank you! Thank you , Thank You!
“Cool Change”, “Lonesome Loser”, “The Other Guy”, “Night Owl”, “Help Is On The Way”, “Reminiscing” all amazing songs and any would be a great choice for a reaction from you. Melodies, harmonies, tight instrumentation = Little River Band
not only my favorite song from LRB - one of my most favorite rock songs of all time. The music has so many textures - the lyrics are deep, hopeful, positive the vocals - lead and harmonies are magnificent. Released in '75. I was 24 then. This song transcends time and generations. LOVE it - LOVE LRB
What a great request, great version form a phenomenal band i think your reaction pretty much covers it. Glenn Frey {Eagles...RIP] called LRB the best harmonizing band in the world, as you can hear, high praise from a band that prided they selves for harmonies. Shawn dive down this rabbit hole you won't be disappointed
I grew up hearing this on the radio all the time and liked it But when i heard the album version on headphones it blew me away I learned it on guitar the next week Love It Love It
I consider myself very lucky to have heard them live in '78 in Calgary, Alberta. Bob Scaggs was the headliner and he was awesome but these guys.....wow! I highly recommend Time For a Cool change and Reminiscing.
The reason Shawn is my favorite (of maybe 7 or 8) reactor. He genuinely "gets off" on "our" music. The joy he feels when discovering great tunes is shown all over his face
Glenn Shorrock was the original singer for LRB. He quit for awhile, and Mark Farnham took his place for around 5 years. After Farnham left, Shorrock came back. When the band officially broke up, LRB member Wayne Nelson had rights to the name. Glenn Shorrock, Graeham Goble, and Beeb Birtles began and (as far as I know) still are performing as Birtles Shorrock Goble. Glenn Shorrock is singing on the album you played.
That is Glenn Shorrock on vocals, the original lead singer with LRB, John Farnham (the h is silent ) replaced Glenn for about 4 years in the early 80's, Both Glenn and John rock,
LRB played as a support act to Fleetwood Mac & Santana at Rockarena Concert in Sydney late 70’s. They blew the other acts off the stage with a brilliant live performance of excellent musicianship & incredible harmonies. I walked out of the gig surrounded by some Americans who were vocal in claiming that LRB were better than the Eagles live in concert.
These two are their best with the original lead singer (in my opinion)..but I prefer their earlier songs. The original videos are awesome because you can actually see each one singing… they can all sing! Also the song “Reminiscing”. Those give the vibe we love.
I grew up in a town called Werribee Vic Australia,A town called Little River was approximately 8 miles from my town. It had a pub back in the day that sold beer on Sunday illegally because there was no Sunday alcohol sales allowed😅
1982-1987: John Farnham years. In February 1982, Shorrock left Little River Band and resumed his solo career. Farnham replaced Shorrock on lead vocals and "Man on Your Mind", the third single from Time Exposure . John is an icon and legend of Australia. Please check out his solo work. He can sing anything from opera to pop, to rock. His reactions should be live as his performances are a show in themselves. He has done duets with Tom Jones, Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow, Jimmy Barnes.
……Little River Band have many hits 🎸❤️🔥 their actually still touring….. don’t think their’s any original members left but they keep their music alive ! My favorites…… 1) Help is on its way 2) The Night Owls 3) Man On Your Mind 4) Happy Anniversary 5) Cool Change
This is the best track they ever recorded, period. They had higher charting songs, but they weren't better than this imho. High charting songs are from the masses, the thundering heard. McDonalds has sold millions of hamburgers, but that doesn't make them good. This song, is greatness.
One of my favorite tracks from the late 70s. Rarely have I heard it anywhere except on YT or my stereo since then. Single is OK, but you already have learned the LP track is the best
Well done, Shawn. Glad you liked it. Yes, it's a masterpiece. These guys are grade A musicians and had many great songs. Light of Day is the other masterpiece, another long one. Check that one out.
Thank you. Their catalog is deep. Many great songs. This was perhaps their best. They were very new when this song was released. If it had come out after they were popular it surely would have been top 5. Over the years the song has gained a great deal of love and respect from fans and critics a like. Masterpiece is correct.
Highly recommend you react to John Farnham (you don’t pronounce the H in his last name) - his live version of the Beatles’ “Help” (which features the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) is spectacular. John was the replacement lead vocal for LRB, after Glenn Shorrock left. LRB has a great collection of easy-listening hits.
Me, my boyfriend and one of his friends used to go on road trips and we'd always play LRB's greatest hits and sing to the top of our lungs. We sounded like crap but man, we laughed like crazy. That was 36 yrs ago and still remains a very happy memory! Hope those 2 guys are still rocking out!
Hi Shawn….. this is the start of a very long career from LRB , their very first single from 1976….. plenty more from LRB…. Emma, Happy Anniversary, Home on a Monday, Shut Down Turn Off, …. John Farnham joined in 1982, anything before that features Glenn Shorrock on vocals.
Oh my, Shawn. Yes, LRB were an amazing band. John Farnham (pronounced Farnum), has always been a soloist except for the time he was LRB's lead singer 1980 - 85 (replacing Glen Shorrock). John is one of the greatest vocalists in the world (and that is from not just his fans, but many international artists such as Tom Jones, Celion Deon, Freddy Mercury, Ray Charles, Sammy Davies Jnr, Olivia Newton John, Richard Marx, just to name a few), he is known as "The Voice". John's professional singing career started in 1967 (he won King of Pop 5 consecutive years 69 - 73), but due to bad management and getting type-cast, he struggled through the mid to late 70s when he signed with his best "mate" Glen Wheatley (ex-Masters Apprentices) who was managing LRB, John's solo career took off again in the early 80s, he skyrocketed back to the top. John tried in vain to retire many times, but his fans won't let him & he just loves singing. He has continued to grace our stages until the country was shut down by Covid in 2022 (when he was 72yrs and still sounding amazing, still singing in the original keys). He is the only Australian Artist to have a number-one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. John can sing anything; he could sing the phone book and make it sound great. He is one of the most loved Australian performers ever, he is considered Music Royality over here. You definitely need to do some Farnham reactions, you will get swamped by the Aussie Army, they will flood you with requests. Only do "Live" versions of John (the studio versions are too clinical and do not capture his true magic). Love your reaction to LRB. Here's a live favorite of mine when John was fronting LRB from 1983, it called "Reminiscing: and I love the Jazzy way he does it... From a TV special.... ua-cam.com/video/iYgh_Irk46M/v-deo.html
LITTLE RIVER BAND - It's A Long Way There !!! The 1st hit and i was an immediate fan. It is my favorite #2 by them is ..."Reminiscing" ... but there ore other greats that are being suggested below.
Reminicing by LRB is one of my favourite songs of all time , John Farnham mention was he took over lead singer later in life for the band, he is an absolute lengend as an Aussie , his redition of "Help" live with the melbourne Symphany Orchestra is one to react to for John , cheers Shawn.
Shawn, I don’t know if you’ve heard the song “Help” originally by the Beatles, sung by John Farnham, imo its best if you know the original first, so you can appreciate the essence of Johns version, which is also in conjunction with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Shawn thanks for this. I was suppose to see these guys in 1978 open for The Marshall Tucker Band but their bus broke down and they missed the show. Always wished they'd made that show because of this song and a song called Cool Change. Great reaction.
OH CMON SHAWN, I THOUGHT YOU DID, HMMMMM 😊WELL HELLLLL YOU'RE TALKING GR88888 HARMONIES LIKE CSN, AMERICA, BUT YEAH, THEIR FIRST 2 BIG RADIO HITS WERE : HELP IS ON IT'S WAY & HAPPY ANNIVERSARY👍😊 OTHER HUGE SONGS SHAWN ARE : REMINISCING, COOL CHANGE, LADY, THE NIGHT OWLS, WELL THERE'S SEVERAL SO 😊
Saw them as warm up band for Boz Skaggs in Portland OR in 1979.. with my cousin Danny Lee Schultz (died 1981),Rick Placid and Terry Grutzemacher.. both bands were exceptional.
John Farnham is just a blip on the radar when you talk about the Little River Band. This song is from their first LP with Glenn Shorrock as lead vocalist. The original members had a long string of hits, Farnham was with the band from 1982-85 and had some great songs with them but when I think of the LRB I think of Glenn Shorrock. The LRB started in 1975 and is still active today, however, the original members are no longer with the band and can't even sing as the LRB anymore because the current members took over the name from them. This is the original long version of the song; you picked the right one to listen too. AM radio liked songs under 4 minutes, so they did release a whittled down version which horrified me when I first heard it, how could they destroy a masterpiece! Thier second release for the LP was "I'll Allways Call Your Name", please listen to that song also!
Great sound and harmony on all their music.I never thought that Little River Band ever sounded like Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Both have great production and harmonies though their styles differ. You will like reacting to several more tunes already recommended by other people already!
Shawn you could put all their great songs, which is too many to mention, throw darts and you would always hit a classic song, I’ll stand by that statement.
LRB is my second favorite band from Australia after AC/DC because the harmonies are near Bee Gees level. Great album of hits for sure worthy of the dive. I would have requested the same song but the OG version.
Great lyrics, song construction, harmonies, & musicianship. So many other songs to check out, "Every Day of My Life, "Curiosity Killed The Cat," & "Cool Change" to name just a few.
Lead singer is Glenn Shorrock not John Farnham. John joined the group after Shorrock left to do his own thing. Not sure what year it was but John was a solo artist both before and after his stint with this band. And of course, John Farnham is by far the more revered singer here in Australia.
Check out John Farnham's live version of Please Don't Ask with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It was written by Graeham Goble, who wrote this, Reminiscing, Lady, and other LRB classics.
You can't go wrong with LRB. Their "Lonesome Loser" is one of my life-theme songs which I have also used as an on-line name. Of all the songs titled "Lady", theirs is the best. When it comes to tight harmonies listen to "Reminiscing" and "Cool Change".
How can anyone not fall in love with The Little River Band
True.
This song is brilliant - the production, arrangement, vocals, instrumentation (especially the guitar). A PERFECT song.
Hey Shawn, love your journey. Pat yourself on the back, because your one of the only reactors to react to this hidden Gem! Thank you! Thank you , Thank You!
I appreciate he is reacting to many songs that others do not.
cheers !
Agreed. Although I think this is their best song. Beeb Bertles was killing it on lead guitar.
not only my favorite song from LRB - one of my most favorite rock songs of all time. The music has so many textures - the lyrics are deep, hopeful, positive the vocals - lead and harmonies are magnificent. Released in '75. I was 24 then. This song transcends time and generations. LOVE it - LOVE LRB
My absolute favorite LRB song! I’m 66 and still enjoy it just as much today as I did in 1975! Thanks for returning me to my youth!💞
hard to do when it was released in 76
Same here mate!
One of the best all time band of the 70's. It's a very Deep Rabbit Hole
"Reminiscing" probably their biggest hit. And
"Night Owls" also one of my favorites of theirs.
John Lennon singled out that tune as hes fav. Also Frank Sinatra . Reminiscing that is.
This is LRB's original lead singer, Glenn Shorrock. John Farnham joined them later.
This band must be from the deep south.......of Australia.
I grew up hearing this on the radio all the time and liked it But when i heard the album version on headphones it blew me away I learned it on guitar the next week Love It Love It
One of the better live acts I’ve ever seen !! Their library of songs is a gift to mankind. !! ❤️
You WILL love this band.
I consider myself very lucky to have heard them live in '78 in Calgary, Alberta. Bob Scaggs was the headliner and he was awesome but these guys.....wow! I highly recommend Time For a Cool change and Reminiscing.
Lots of great music from every iteration of this band.
This will be a great rabbit hole. "Night Owls," "Cool Change," and many more!
'Cool Change'....their official video with the dolphins.
The reason Shawn is my favorite (of maybe 7 or 8) reactor. He genuinely "gets off" on "our" music. The joy he feels when discovering great tunes is shown all over his face
Great group, tons of hits. Nice start to LRB.

Who is 'Mark' Farnham? John Farnham's, who sung for LRB, brother?!
He means John!@@161recce
That is Glenn Shorrock on vocals, the original lead singer with LRB, John Farnham (the h is silent ) replaced Glenn for about 4 years in the early 80's, Both Glenn and John rock,
LRB has some of the best harmonies. Great choices Shawn.

They blew the other acts off the stage with a brilliant live performance of excellent musicianship & incredible harmonies. I walked out of the gig surrounded by some Americans who were vocal in claiming that LRB were better than the Eagles live in concert.
This is truely a very underrated band. Just beautiful music!
😍😍😍 "Take It Easy On Me" and "Lady" are great too.
These two are their best with the original lead singer (in my opinion)..but I prefer their earlier songs. The original videos are awesome because you can actually see each one singing… they can all sing! Also the song “Reminiscing”. Those give the vibe we love.
I know several other songs from LRB but this is the first time ever hearing this one and it was awesome. Glad you enjoyed it too.
So many great Little River Band songs.
Fantastic request and reaction!♥
Little River Band? Can't go wrong. Do it, do it!...You can DO IT!!
I think this is their best song.
I agree but they have some good ones. I liked it when mom bought their first album and played it all the time way back when.
Always loved these guys. This song is like a mix of CSN and Firefall.
more of this band would be great
I grew up in a town called Werribee Vic Australia,A town called Little River was approximately 8 miles from my town. It had a pub back in the day that sold beer on Sunday illegally because there was no Sunday alcohol sales allowed😅

John didn't sing lead on Man on Your Mind
Glenn Sherrock sang lead on Man On Your Mind in fact he wrote the song.
I love this band!! 🤗🤩
Glen Shorrock on lead vocals. This was well before Farnham did lead vocals for a couple of years.
Farnham is a great singer but when he replaced Sherrock for a few years it didn’t sound like Little River Band to me.
Speaking of John Farnham, introduce yourself to his Chart topper: "Your the Voice" one of Many, many songs he performed ❤
John Farnham is the GOAT!
Thank you , this is my favorite song it is my ringtone, not many reactions to this song great rabbit hole, please explore ❤
First time hearing this song. Reminds me of Alan Parsons.
The 70s 80s were Magical 👍🏴
Best Review on UA-cam 👍🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴
some more LRB favorites: I'll Always Call Your Name" and "Happy Anniversary"
……Little River Band have many hits 🎸❤️🔥 their actually still touring….. don’t think their’s any original members left but they keep their music alive ! My favorites……

Oh Yeah! LRB. Groovy band. Cool Change

One of my favorite tracks from the late 70s. Rarely have I heard it anywhere except on YT or my stereo since then. Single is OK, but you already have learned the LP track is the best
This was a song of it’s era. When I listen to this song, which I love, it lends itself to bands like Styx, Air Supply, Chicago and others.
Well done, Shawn. Glad you liked it. Yes, it's a masterpiece. These guys are grade A musicians and had many great songs. Light of Day is the other masterpiece, another long one. Check that one out.
They has 4 or 5 really good singers and some really good songs, they're one of my guilty pleasures.
The Little River Band is one of my all-time favorites band...check out "Lonesome Looser " It is FIRE 🔥 😊😊
Thank you. Their catalog is deep. Many great songs. This was perhaps their best. They were very new when this song was released. Couldn't agree more! Farnham IS the voice!
Damn, I never heard this version before, thanks great tune, added to my playlist, definitely a jam!!!
Shawn you're in my top three reactors.
Glenn Shorrock was the main lead vocal. Farnham came to the group a few years later
This song is 🔥🔥
One of the most beautiful numbers ever. 😍😍🎶🎶👍
This is a great roadtrip tune. I still have the OG vinyl LP that I bought in 1975. My high school graduation year.
Absolutely awesome song and a gorgeous reaction, it's impossible to sit still during this one 😊😊😊
brilliant

Congrats in discovering LRB, candy to the ears. LRB with Glen oh my goodness the melodies. Im throwing it out there my fav song Lady.

"Light of Day"
LRB was exceptional and worth checking out…especially ‘Reminiscing’
Woo Hoo LRB !!! 🎉🎉 Thank you for this reaction 😊❤
Shawn thanks for this. I was suppose to see these guys in 1978 open for The Marshall Tucker Band but their bus broke down and they missed the show. Always wished they'd made that show because of this song and a song called Cool Change.

My favorite song from this band !
Reminiscing, Cool Change, Lady, Lonesome Loser and more.....
Shawn you could put all their great songs, which is too many to mention, throw darts and you would always hit a classic song, I’ll stand by that statement.
My All-Time Favorite Song from LRB. Keep it in the 70's. Music Like this just isn't played anymore.
Anything from their greatest hits/big hits
LRB were just sensational .
They had a lot of good songs but this is the best song by them I think. Good for you.
LRB is my second favorite band from Australia after AC/DC because the harmonies are near Bee Gees level. Great album of hits for sure worthy of the dive. I would have requested the same song but the OG version.

I'm hoping to get through 2024 without hearing the words bars , vibe , fire , riff and genre
