What I love about your you is your enthusiasm and passion for your firearms. What it comes down to is simply collect what you love. You and I have a lot in common, 1911s and watches. I had been a Colt lover but the last three I purchased, including one out of the custom shop, left me completely disappointed. I have since purchased much better made handguns including 3 Les Baers. In my opinion you have great taste plus you 100% enjoy whatever your collecting. Never sweat the small stuff, or what others think. Keep doing what your doing.

I started my gun collecting days building up the guns I would absolutely go to war with, defend my home with, defend my family with, defend myself with.
After that it became fun and games to me personally, I went out and started buying guns I thought were cool, fun, crazy, weird, dream guns, I also around this time took up competition shooting so competition guns joined my roster.
Then after that there was another shift in my collecting. I started collecting for the people around me, I became that guy that said “hey ever shot a 50 BMG? No? Ok come with me I just bought one and I think it would be cool to shoot.”
Then there was another shift in my style of collecting that I’m still currently in, I got my FFL last year and really took to collecting cool military surplus firearms that have a place in our history.
I know a lot of people judge me because I buy guns people consider a “waste of money” but to me it’s a hobby and I enjoy building a giant collection like this. It’s about what you enjoy and think is fun, that’s how I look at it and that can be cheap or expensive.

Awesome channel, only the user can decide what they trust. Have a BFT and Girsan I would trust in a heartbeat

I can understand your logic. I buy all sorts of stuff too for all sorts of reasons. I do have one rule: it must be reliable just in case its needed and happens to be what is close. I have to trust ALL of mine or they go away.
Thanks for the video! Good topic👍

Love this vid very spot on. Collecting is all about what you like and what you can afford and I wish more people would understand that.

Pretty much same as you, I have my serious business guns and then range toys. I don't get into oddball calibers though, try to keep it mainstream in that regard.

I had the benefit of collecting in the 80s-2010s. Stocked up on Milsurps, AKs, battle rifles & ARs. Since 2020, just took my Instagram money and bought a few varmint ARs & lightweight ARs.
I don't really believe in a going to war gun. Never going to happen. Good home defense set up? Yeah. Got that.

Plus I use Dillon loading machines. Again very good taste for quality. Ever think about a couple reloading videos? I'm getting set up to get back into long distance rifle shooting. Matter of fact my new Garmin Xero C1 pro should arrive in a couple days, I'm pretty excited. Take care.

Thanks for the comment sir. I would love to do some reloading videos but UA-cam would shut me down so quick. I will probably do a walk around of my reloading setup. 🤠

Man I have gotten where I do my best to ignore the haters. I have PSA's, M&P Sport 2's, and one of the most impressive to me, My Diamondback DB15's have been absolutely amazing AR's. There reliable and very accurate. I also have some older Colt AR's and 1911's, my Dad left them to me. I also have Noveske and Kinghts AR's.
I tend to shoot my Diamondbacks and PSA's more than I shoot my so-called "A" Teer AR's. My Daughter and Girlfriend love shooting with me and we are lucky to have a Pistol and Rifle Range in the back yard, we also Reload and we try and shoot a couple time a week so we have gotten some high round counts on our AR's and Pistols. When I have tried to tell folks how many rounds we have on some of our AR's they call me the lier 😂 it kills there soul to know as long as the damned parts are in spec., and the firearm is taken care of, that the Firearm will run like it ought to. I have actually had to send one of our Knights back 3 friggin times to get it to run right all because of there property parts they use I couldn't fix the damned thing myself. We have 3 of the 22lr M&P AR's that we use to train with so we aren't shooting 556 and 9mm all the time. Those 3 little Carbine's have damned near a COMBINED (not each) 50,000 rounds of 22lr shot through them and most of that has been Suppressed. Our little 22lr Glocks have a shit ton of round through them as well. Shooting and Reloading are our Hobbies.
PSA's that have the FN Barrels and Toolcraft BCG's will run damned near forever. Also if folks would take the time to look at the spec's of the Diamondback AR's they would see that other than Chrome Lined Barrels they are made basically to what the TDP that Colt used to build M4's. When we get a new or used gun I will strip it, clean it, and check everything out about it. With the AR's I will immediately throw in a SpringCo Recoil Spring, and SpringCo Extractor and Ejector Springs. If its a Used one I might even put a BCM Extractor also. 99 times out of 100 after doing that we have a good running AR.
Anyway, thank you for your uploads!
    🤙🏻👍🏻

Thanks for the comment appreciate it, read yours and man I understand what you’re saying, unfortunately I live in a communist state and my next move will be able to have a shooting range in my backyard,, I envy you. My motto is that you can’t fix stupid!! Not even with duct tape… I’m a people person but sometimes theres no talking to them about anything that they don’t want to know, enjoy your time with your family, enjoy your guns and live a great life enjoying the things that you can enjoy. Labels and name brands are great, but if at the end day if you prefer something else “ go for it” .. and you have the money for it cool,, it what makes you happy and nobody else,, thanks again for your comment have a great day

My questions are do I want it, can I afford it, and--since I have a C&R license--can I find ammunition for it. Occasionally, I do contemplate what practical use I might have for it, but I've covered that consideration, unless I come up with some obscure purpose I hadn't thought of before.

I don't know if I'm a collector, but there are certain guns I'll never sell, they either have sentimental value or they would be too hard to replace if I regretted selling later on and wanted another one.

  • @greybeard277

I wouldn't consider myself a collector. I am looking for the best EDC (for me) in a couple of calibers, then one or two range toys, and that's about it. I think you become a collector after x number of pieces but I do not know what number x stands for, lol.

Good video thanks. I don't have the level of your collection, but a bit scattered like yours. Some more tool driven ones but more competition/pleasant shooters lately with some icons as well! 1911, colt python, and an AK seem required at this point. Milsurp is interesting starting to get into those as well.

Good video Matt. You know it's kinda like whatever floats your boat, go for it! I'm sure many collect by a manufacturer, type, caliber or whatever. We all work hard for our money and we'll spend it how we want regarding what type of firearms give us the giggles. Again Matt, good video and an interesting topic.

Cmp is now selling the tiass 1911a1. Definitely as good if not better than a colt. It cost less not because of materials, but because of Labor costs. My tiass are gtw capable firearms.

I buy what interests me. I have a couple of PSAs and they are functionally adequate. No, they aren't the best ones made but they are fun and can stand up to the round count that I'm realistically going to put through them. I have some higher end weapons as well but I'm about to turn 52 and can finally afford to buy some things just because I think they are interesting or fun. Also, if I buy a safe queen, I probably couldn't afford the 10k plus rounds of ammunition to actually matter.

Have a look at the 3 part videos from ‘School of the American Rifle’, from yesterday, a specification check on two new PSA upper receivers. (Pretty cool channel I didn’t know existed)
Pretty sure those ‘field experts’ wouldn’t look at their video and procedure because they already know everything?

I’m did see that 3 part series and it is fantastic. I am subscribed to his channel. He said he was very impressed with the build quality of those uppers. He did find some small issues like the clocking of the uppers but other than that they were better than he expected.
